Chapter 99 Ebony Disappeared
Major Morgan was really annoyed by Ebony.
He walked quickly and Ebony still closely followed him.
Major Morgan kept a straight face and turned around. He said, "I've called the finance department of the TV station. They said they'll give you the bonus after the advertisers settle the business expense for this period. It's useless to ask me now."
Ebony put both hands in her trouser pockets and continued to follow him. "They said that you are the top leader. I can just ask you."
Major Morgan was angry. "It's useless to ask me and I have no money."
Ebony didn't say anything but continued to follow him.
Major Morgan took Ebony to meet the director of the program team and wanted the director to handle this matter. "He is the director. You can ask him!"
Ebony instantly cast her eyes at the director.
The director had already known about the matter. He quickly said, "A director has no authority. The leader has the highest authority. He's responsible for contacting persons and mobilizing the logistics."
Then Ebony looked back at Major Morgan.
Major Morgan was speechless.
Finally, Major Morgan had no choice but called the financial department again to ask them about the earliest day for paying the bonus.
The finance department calculated for a long time and conservatively said, "Three months at least."
Major Morgan told that to Ebony.
Ebony almost jumped up after heard it. "It will take three months at least?"
Major Morgan said, "Paying bonuses needs a lot of procedures. Have you ever seen any bonus that was paid fast?"
Ebony felt so depressed.
When she took a bath later, Ebony became more and more angry at the thought of it. She was mollified a bit after she used up most the shower gel of the program team.
As she came out after a bath, she met Lloyd and the two strange men who she had seen in Lloyd's tent walking out.
Ebony didn't take it seriously and wanted to go back to her tent.
But she found that both the strange men were staring at her.
Ebony felt uncomfortable for their extremely intense gaze.
She narrowed her eyes and walked over there directly.
Jon's eyes glinted when he saw her coming over.
Stewart coughed and straightened his back a little to make himself look more formal.
Ebony walked up to the three with a towel hanging around her neck.
Holding the two sides of the towel with her hands, Ebony asked Lloyd, "Your friend?"
Lloyd frowned and said in a low voice, "Um".
Ebony leaned over and said to him in a low voice, "Don't make friends with unreliable people."
Then she took Lloyd's hand and left.
Lloyd was stunned.
Stewart and Jon who didn't say anything were also astonished.
Looking at the back of a man and a woman who were moving away, Stewart asked Jon with a livid face, "Did I hear it wrong? Or didn't I hear it clearly? She said that I am reliable?"
Jon was so unpleasant. "And me... Why?"
The father and son looked at each other and fell silent at the same time.
After Ebony pushed Lloyd back to his tent, she asked unhappily, "Did you see it?"
Lloyd was puzzled. "What?"
"They were staring at me!"
Lloyd was silent for a while and said, "Yeah."
Ebony said dissatisfiedly, "They must be captivated by my beauty. They must think my born beauty is unparalleled and they want to chase after me!"
Lloyd was so speechless.
"Listen. I've seen so many people of this kind. Few men are decent, including you. You should not be friends with them, or influenced by them you'll also be bad."
Lloyd tried to persuade her. "They have no spite."
Ebony would not believe it. "Why were they staring at me? They kept staring at me for a long while. Those men who stared at me before all had evil intentions."
Lloyd frowned. "Before?"
Ebony smacked her lips. "Forget it. Nothing important. By the way, the bonus won't be paid until three months later. And I should go."
Then she grabbed the towel and left Lloyd's tent.
Lloyd looked at her back and sighed. Then he lowered the curtain.
Although the top three place had been occupied, the recording was not over.
There were still many teams in the jungle.
Early the next morning, Lloyd was on the phone in the tent when someone outside the tent called him.
He hung up the phone and went out.
It was a worker of the program team who asked him whether he would continue to wait for other teams or go back to Clarida first.
Lloyd was silent for a while and looked at Ebony's tent not far away. He asked, "What did they say?"
The worker said, "Other people are asking them."
Lloyd walked directly to Ebony's tent.
"Hey, Lloyd. Good morning. Do you want to go back or stay here?" Jeremy came out of another tent at this time and greeted Lloyd with a smile.
Lloyd didn't answer him. He walked to the door of Ebony's tent.
At the entrance of Ebony's tent, a worker had called her many times. "Miss Gibson, are you awake?"
Lloyd frowned. "Didn't get up yet?"
The worker said, "It seems so."
Lloyd dropped his eyes. Ebony could not sleep so deeply that she was not woken up by such shouting.
His face became solemn instantly. Then he suddenly lifted the curtain.
There was no one inside.
Ebony disappeared.
In just a few minutes, the whole camp knew that yesterday's first place, Ebony of Team 01, had disappeared.
Lloyd looked gloomy.
When Warren, Kelly and Tristan heard the news, they all came out anxiously to find Ebony.
The director was also alarmed and asked with a livid face, "Who's the last to see her?"
A soldier said, "I saw her washing her face in the morning."
Lloyd looked at the soldier. "And then?"
The soldier shook his head. "I didn't see her after that."
Tristan was so worried. "Where did aunt go?"
Kelly even more anxious. "It's all over. Last night before my grandpa and uncle left, they told me to take care of my aunt. It's over. Is aunt missing again?"
"Don't talk nonsense!" Tristan heard it and patted his sister's head. He asked Lloyd, "Lloyd, what should we do now?"
Lloyd tightened his thin lips. He scanned around and suddenly narrowed his eyes. "No one will miss in the camp."
"What happened?" At the moment, Major Morgan heard something and came out of the monitoring room.
The director immediately told him about Ebony's disappearance.
Major Morgan heard that and fell silent for a while. He suddenly said to the crowd with a complicated expression. "Come with me."
Lloyd was stunned.
Everyone followed Major Morgan into the monitoring room.
"Switch to the internal channel." Major Morgan said to the soldier who was manipulating the surveillance.
The soldier pressed a button and the biggest screen suddenly changed what it displayed.
On the screen, there was a line of guards. Their upper bodies were naked and they wore military pants. They were running with weights in the mountains and doing morning exercises.
Major Morgan pointed to the small figure who was the only one wearing clothes behind the guards. He said, "Zoom in."
The soldier zoomed in.
Then everyone saw it.
Ebony had a ponytail and wore a camouflage vest. She was walking steadily behind the regular army.
Major Morgan complained unpleasantly. "Ebony insisted on it. She waited for the guards in the early morning and insisted on doing exercises with them. They refused her but she still followed them. She had a cheek and couldn't be rid of!"
Lloyd was speechless.
Others were also speechless.
When Major Morgan said that, he looked at other people and finally said to Lloyd, "Or you bring her back? She's bothering the guards. I saw that in the rainforest she only obeyed you."
