Chapter 234 Huge Legacy! Ebony Was on Cloud Nine
Upper Lection, Treating cough!
This hint was so obvious!
There had to be something on the roof.
But this house was too old, the walls were worn and a bit powdered.
Ebony was afraid to climb on the wall for fear that she would crush the house.
That's why she wanted Lloyd to hold her legs to lift her up so that she could reach the cant beam on the side, and then she could climb on the cant beam up to the horizontal beam.
After a pause, Lloyd seemed to understand her.
He put his arms around her waist, and was very close to her. He said, "Too far."
Ebony also felt the distance was still too far even she was lifted. She wrapped Lloyd's shoulder and said, "Let me try first."
So Lloyd lifted her up.
Ebony was lost for words.
She lay across his arms, her hands clasping Lloyd's clothes and blinking at the man close to her. She asked sincerely, "Why do you carry me in your arms?"
Lloyd looked at her eyes and said lightly, "I've got to seize my opportunity."
Ebony was speechless.
Why didn't Lloyd even blush?
Ebony patted Lloyd and said, "I'm not joking with you."
The man finally set her down and turned to walk out of the room.
Ebony was confused, and she had to follow him behind. She said, "Hey, you! Are you angry? Come on, be generous!"
He walked outside the house and stopped on the side of the wall.
Ebony followed his gaze and saw a dirty old ladder leaning against the corner of the outer wall!
Ten minutes later, Lloyd climbed up the beam with the ladder, and from behind the beam, he took down a small, tightly bound box.
As soon as Ebony took the box, she cried, "My music box! This was my favorite toy when I was a kid! At that time grandpa said that I lost it myself. I was sad for several days. Turned out it was my grandpa that stole it!"
The lock on the music box was a combination lock, and she expertly entered her birthday.
Soon, the box was open.
Inside the box, there was a key. On the back of the key, there was a label with a name of a bank.
Ebony took the key and looked up at Lloyd suddenly.
Lloyd was also looking at her.
Half an hour later, the two arrived in town.
Hesitantly, Ebony took the key and walked to the counter of the bank.
She handed the key to the clerk, and the clerk looked at it and called the manager out.
The manager checked the tag on the key and then looked at Ebony, who was wearing a mask and was dressed like a suspicious terrorist.
The manager hesitated and finally said, "This way, please."
Five minutes later, Ebony followed the manager into the back storage room, surrounded by four bulky security guards armed with electric batons.
When the safe was opened, Ebony saw that there were only three things inside: a letter, a stack of papers, and a passbook.
With her things being taken out, Ebony signed the papers and left the bank under the watchful eyes of security guards and the manager.
Lloyd was waiting for her in the car outside.
Ebony got into the passenger seat. When she was seated, she spread three antique objects on her lap.
She knew this might be her grandparents' legacy.
In her previous life, she had no idea about it at all...
Ebony pursed her lips and took up the letter first.
There were two words written on the envelope - "To Ebony."
It was her Grandfather's handwriting.
"Ebony," at this moment, the man who had been silent by her side suddenly called her.
Ebony turned her head, looking at Lloyd, and she said, "Huh?"
Lloyd looked her in the eye, moved closer, reached out a hand, wiped the tears from her eyes, and said, "Don't cry."
Ebony realized that she cried just on seeing the envelope. She winked, nodded and said, "Okay."
Ten minutes later.
"Wahhhh!"
Ebony buried her face in Lloyd's arms, her nose and eyes red. She wiped her nose with Lloyd's clothes.
She hugged Lloyd tightly and choked up as she said, "I miss my grandparents so much. Boohoo!"
The man gently hugged her body, palm covering her back of the head. He gently coaxed, "I know. Dear."
Ebony cried so long in Lloyd's arms that her head was hot and sweaty.
The man took a tissue, wiped her forehead, and held her face, gently coaxing, "Let's not read it for now. Okay?"
"All right." With tears in her eyes, Ebony put the letter back in her backpack and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.
Then she remembered to look at the other two things.
In the old bankbook, the words on the last line were "Five million dollars".
The thick document was a house purchase contract, showing the location of the property, which was in an older villa area of Sluvale.
Ebony said to Lloyd with tears in her eyes, "Grandpa left me all this. He said it was the dowry he prepared for me..."
The man held her face, wiped her tears again, and said softly, "Yes, they love you very much."
Ebony sniffed and said, "But which foolish girl would marry with so much money? Her husband would for sure take advantage of it if she married."
Lloyd was speechless.
Lloyd paused for a second, slipped a tissue into Ebony's palm, and said, "Do it yourself."
Ebony took the tissue, casually wiped her eyes, and said to Lloyd, "Lloyd, I'm rich now."
The man didn't say anything.
Ebony asked, "Are you jealous?"
Lloyd was still speechless.
Seeing Lloyd didn't reply to her, Ebony felt upset. She muttered, "Lloyd, why don't you talk to me? You think rich women are hard to get along with?"
Lloyd still kept silent.
Ebony then got back in the passenger seat, buckled up, and said to Lloyd, "I was just praying to Great-Grandpa and Great-great-grandpa to make me rich, and it worked. Drive me to the nearest funeral shop. I'm going to buy some ghost money and joss sticks to thank them."
Lloyd then drove around the small town like a driver, and finally found a funeral shop.
They got out of the car with their masks on.
Ebony walked to the door and said to the boss, "Boss, I want the most expensive package you have."
The boss went inside. Then he took out a big bag of joss sticks and paper money and said, "A total of 50 dollars. Cash or Apple Pay?"
Ebony was dissatisfied because she was rich now. Therefore, like all the filthy rich people, she replied in a loud voice, "I said I wanted the most expensive package! The most expensive one."
The boss took a look at Ebony, thought for a second, and said, "Oh, then I'll sell these for 70 dollars."
Ebony didn't know what to say.
In the end, Ebony paid 50 dollars to the boss and took away that big bag of offerings.
After that, they went back to the old house.
Squatting in the middle of the living room, Ebony began to burn paper money for her ancestors, muttering to herself as she did so.
Lloyd came back from throwing trash, and then he heard Ebony talking to her ancestor, "Win the lottery. I want to win the lottery. Not too much. One million would be fine, or two million. I'm not picky. I'm not picky..."
Lloyd was speechless.
They stayed in the old house for more than an hour, and when they left, it was dark.
It was too late to get back to Sluvale.
Therefore, they stayed in a small hotel in town.
Twelve o'clock, midnight.
Lloyd had no sooner finished an oversea call than he heard Ebony's cry of excitement from the poorly soundproofed room next door!
She had been hyper for hours. Because she had suddenly received a huge inheritance, now she was on cloud nine.
Lloyd sighed, got up, went next door, and knocked on the door.
A moment later, the door was opened and Ebony was standing inside in her bathrobe. She asked, "What's up?"
Lloyd looked at her and said in a low voice, "Keep your voice down a bit."
Ebony was shocked and asked, "What's wrong? Did you hear the voice of my fortune?"
Lloyd was speechless.
She was totally crazy.
