Chapter 21 Good Match
Ebony came out of the shower and saw that there was no one in the room. She did not bother to care, so she blew dry her hair and went to bed.
After a while, Rita and Teri came back.
Teri saw that Ebony had fallen asleep, and lowered her voice.
Unexpectedly, Rita closed the door very loudly!
Teri whispered, "Ebony is asleep."
Rita said loudly, "Everyone was in a meeting next door. She alone was in a temper and went to bed. She doesn't respect me. Why should I respect her?"
Teri said disapprovingly, "She was taking a shower, and might not have heard you calling her. I said I would come back and call her, but you wouldn't let me."
"I was in a meeting and if you were gone too, how would the boys listen to me?"
"Alright, alright," Teri was feeling annoyed. "Be quiet and go to sleep."
Ebony was actually awake. She was just lying on the bed.
After a while, the lights in the room were turned off, and Ebony heard that Teri, who was on the bed next to her, also fell asleep.
After a while, the door was suddenly opened.
Ebony opened her eyes, turned her head to look, and sure enough, Rita's bed was empty. It was Rita who went out.
Rita came back after only going out for a few minutes, but when she came back, she was obviously in a good mood.
The next day, when Ebony got up at seven o'clock, she saw that the others next to her were still sleeping.
She got out of bed to wash up, and then went straight out of the room.
As soon as she went out, she saw that Lloyd Vasquez, who was wearing a black coat, also came out of the boys' room next door.
The cameraman in the corridor followed with his camera equipment.
Lloyd put his hands in the pockets of his coat, looked at Ebony, and asked, "Breakfast?"
Ebony nodded, "You too?"
"Mmm," the man replied, walked to the elevator, and pressed the down button.
Ebony stood beside him and waited for the elevator with him.
Soon the elevator came down, and they arrived at the western restaurant on the first floor, which served free sandwiches in the morning.
After getting their sandwiches, the two went to get two cups of free coffee and sat by the window to eat.
The cameraman was shooting nearby.
The two by the window had prominent facial features and were good-looking. The aroma of coffee filled the air. The misty ambience appeared calm and pleasant against the bustling city.
Sporadic pedestrians hurried past the street outside the floor-to-ceiling glass window. The bustling international city had just woken up.
-- "Just had my dinner. I tuned into the live show and saw such a fantastic picture. I have taken a screenshot."
-- "It looks better than those over-edited blockbusters. I'll keep this as a wallpaper."
-- "To speak the truth, Ebony Gibson is so beautiful. She is the only woman I have seen who doesn't look inferior standing next to Lloyd Vasquez."
-- "I think so too. I feel that no woman is worthy of Lloyd no matter who is being coupled with him, but when Ebony Gibson sit with Lloyd, I feel like they make a really good match."
-- "You can donate your eyes if you don't want them. I don't think they're a good match at all!"
-- "She steals Lloyd. Do you want me to look for the post which digs up dirt on Ebony Gibson and throw it on your face? My Lloyd does not have such a low taste for this kind of woman."
-- "Ah, I'm sorry. I'm wrong. Don't jump on me."
It was still early after they had had their breakfast. Ebony did not go back upstairs. She left the hotel instead.
She felt something was wrong behind her after walking for a few steps. She turned and saw that Lloyd was following her.
Ebony said nothing, and the two of them hung around in silence.
After a while, they arrived at a nearby clockmaker shop.
The shop had just opened. The owner was a balding middle-aged man who was wearing an apron. He looked at the two customers and wished them good morning in English.
Ebony smiled and said good morning.
The clocks in this shop came in all styles, from ordinary ones to classical and luxurious ones, as well as some cute and fashionable ones. Ebony stood in front of the showcase and looked at the pyramid-shaped clock inside.
The owner cordially promoted it to her.
The clock was a little expensive at three hundred dollars.
When Ebony heard the price, she immediately shook her head at the owner with a wry smile.
Not to mention that she was not allowed to spend her own money in the show, she could not afford it even if she was to buy it with her own money.
All she had was only the four hundred and fifty dollars lent to her by Dolores Figueroa. She had spent quite a bit of it and was now left with less than two thirds of it.
She did not have enough money for the clock.
"Like it?" Lloyd asked suddenly beside her.
Ebony's eyes were glued to the clock, but she shook her head, "Not really."
Lloyd looked at her thoughtfully.
They hung around the hotel, and when they walked back, they passed by the clockmaker shop again.
Ebony took a closer look and found that the pyramid clock behind the window was gone.
"It's sold?" Ebony said disappointedly, "This shop has good sales."
Lloyd looked at her, "If you like it, why didn't you reserve it?"
"Reserve it?"
"Reserve it and buy it after the show."
Ebony looked at Lloyd as if he was rich, and after a while, she sighed, "You know nothing."
"..."
At eleven o'clock in the morning, the others got up one after another.
Rita ran next door to see Vernon Hale as soon as she had put on her makeup.
Vernon was having his bandage changed by the doctor of the crew. The cameraman shot only his handsome face with his eyes screwed up in pain and not the wound, because the wound was bloody.
There was another wave of bullet screen comments feeling sorry for him.
Rita felt sorry for him too. In order to show that she cared, she ordered a luxurious breakfast set from the hotel!
She had spent thirty dollars in one go!
"We will rent a car to our destination in the afternoon," Rita announced abruptly over lunch.
