Chapter 223 Is Lloyd Not Their Biological Son?
Ebony felt at a loss for a moment.
She looked at these people in front of her blankly.
Suddenly, someone took her by the shoulders.
She turned around in panic and saw that it was Lloyd who had come up to her.
Then, with his head down, he whispered in her ear, "Don't be afraid."
He said as he led her into the house.
At that moment, Grace took off the birthday hat that was on her head. Then she worriedly walked up and held Ebony's hand and said, "Did we scare you? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. We wanted to surprise you. Gee, poor girl! What's wrong with you?"
Grace said as she took Ebony's face in her hands and touched it with compassion.
"Ahem." There was a sudden coughing sound behind her.
Grace turned around and saw Chasidah staring at her with a warning look in her eyes!
Grace felt speechless.
Grace was a little embarrassed. She just had to put her hand down. Then, she took Ebony's hand and walked to the cart as she said, "Come here! Come and see this double-layer ice cream cake. Ebs, do you like it?"
When Ebony heard Grace say the word "most expensive", she looked timidly at Grace, who was close to her.
After a long moment, she nodded and said, "I like it."
Grace laughed as she said, "Alright. Great."
However, Virginia couldn't wait any longer. Then she raised her short arm and pointed to the electronic watch on her wrist and said, "It's-it's-it's almost midnight!"
"Gee, it's almost midnight!" Grace quickly started lighting candles and complained, "Why is Llo driving so slow? It's almost too late!"
Ebony froze. Then she hurriedly explained, "Aunt Grace, well, Lloyd's hand is hurt. He wasn't the one driving. I was the one driving the car. I..."
"Okay. It's alright. It's okay."
After lighting the candle, Grace put the lighter down. Then she rushed over to pat the back of Ebony's hand and said reassuringly, "You're right to drive carefully. It's dark at night. If you drive fast, it's not safe. You did a good job. You are more discreet. You're not like those boys who are reckless!"
Lloyd frowned slightly at that moment.
Then Beau also frowned, but he was very upset and glared at Lloyd and said, "You only have a small injury. Can't you drive a car? How can you let a girl drive in the middle of the night? Anyway, you're useless. You've slacked off since you became a star! You need to work out more in the future. Got it?"
Lloyd took a deep breath. Then, he pursed his lips and muttered a reply to his dad.
Ebony thought Beau didn't understand the situation. Then she explained, "It's not a minor injury. Lloyd has a gunshot wound!"
Beau waved his hand and said, "Ebs, you don't have to make excuses for him. As a man, he only suffered a small gunshot wound. He's not crippled. How could he have been seriously injured?"
Ebony felt speechless.
Ebony was a little confused.
She wondered if Lloyd was Beau's biological son.
Grace didn't think his son could do anything right. And she didn't want to mention her son. Then she took Ebony's hand and said, "Come on! Make a wish first. Then you blow out the candles."
At that moment, the maid turned off the lights again.
The large living room was suddenly dark. The only light in the living room was the orange candlelight on top of the cake.
Ebony looked at the beautiful and sweet double-layered cake with the words "Happy Birthday Ebs" written on it.
In fact, Ebony hadn't celebrated a birthday in a long time. When she was a child, she celebrated her birthday every year.
However, later, her father passed away.
And then her grandparents passed away...
After Roxanne brought her to the Gibson family, Ebony never had a birthday again.
And the only time Roxanne celebrated Ebony's birthday was in her previous life. And she drugged Ebony on her birthday and sold her to an illegal underground factory.
Ebony had no concept of celebrating a birthday for a long time.
But now she looked around at the many familiar people standing around her.
Ebony felt warm inside.
Then, she closed her eyes and folded her hands. She put both hands in front of her chest and made a wish.
After a while, she opened her eyes, bent over, and blew out the candle.
"Wow!" Virginia shouted excitedly.
Then, the room lights were turned on again.
Music was played on the loudspeaker in the room.
Then, everyone suddenly began to sing in unison.
"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to Ebs... Happy birthday to you..."
By the time Chasidah reached the last line, her eyes were red.
She turned her face away and wiped the corners of her eyes with a tissue. Then she turned her head. And she smiled again and pretended she hadn't been crying.
Ebony felt sad when she saw this scene.
Grace looked at Chasidah, then took Chasidah by the shoulders and said to Ebony, "Ebs, do you have something you want to say to someone in the room?"
Ebony froze. Then she looked at Chasidah. "I..."
Grace encouraged and said, "If you want to say something to someone, just say it boldly."
Ebony squeezed her fingers and gritted her teeth. Finally, she looked over at Lloyd on the other side and mustered up the courage to say, "Lloyd, I have something to say to you!"
Grace and Chasidah were instantly disappointed.
However, Lloyd smiled and said, "Hmm? What?"
Ebony said, "I want to advise you to take filming seriously in the future. You must not become a singer! You sing too badly!"
Lloyd felt speechless.
"That's right. He can't sing in tune. He sings out of tune..."
Beau was about to take the opportunity to laugh at his son when his wife suddenly slapped him on the arm.
Beau then rubbed his arm and turned to Grace.
Grace glared at Beau. When Grace saw that Ebs would rather talk to Lloyd than Chasidah, she could only say regretfully, "Come on. Let's cut the cake first. Where's the knife? Where is it..."
Then, the maid quickly handed over the knife. Chasidah handed Ebony the silver knife.
Ebony took the knife, kept her head down, and didn't dare to look at Chasidah. And then she cut the cake with one slice.
After that, the maid cut the cake into small pieces and distributed them to everyone.
Virginia did not get a piece of cake because she could not eat sweet food at night as a child.
But Virginia had a craving. Then she quietly pulled Ebony's coat and tilted her head as she said, "Ebony, I want to eat..."
Ebony knelt down and whispered to Virginia, "No. I don't have enough cake to eat!"
Virginia felt speechless.
Then, Ebony snickered. She teased Virginia a little and then scooped a spoonful of cake and fed it to her behind the others' backs.
Virginia ate it in one bite. Then she put her arms around Ebony's neck and rested her little head on Ebony's shoulder.
At that moment, the clock struck twelve.
The ninth of April had passed.
There was still a lot of double-layer cake left. The three elders were not big eaters and did not eat at midnight, so they did not eat much.
Ten minutes later, five people sat on the sofa and watched the double-layer cake turn from two layers to one.
After another ten minutes, one layer of cake turned into half.
After another five minutes, the cake was eaten up, and there was not a bit left...
When Lloyd watched Ebony take the last bite of the cake, he handed her a tissue and asked, "Aren't you stuffed?"
Ebony licked the corner of her mouth. Then she came over and whispered to Lloyd, "Honestly speaking, I overspent on groceries to make you a medicinal meal. I actually didn't eat enough at dinner tonight!"
Lloyd felt speechless.
He thought, 'Isn't Ebony full? I saw her eat four bowls of rice. And didn't she also mix her rice with the soup from the stewed pork?'
Grace got a little upset at this point.
She glared at Lloyd and thought Lloyd was too petty. Then she snapped, "Since Ebs likes to eat the cake, let her eat it. Having a good appetite is a blessing, got it? Ebs, ignore him. Have you eaten enough? If you're full, let's open the presents!"
