Chapter 152 Ebony Knew Lloyd Was Single Again
When Ebony was on her way back, bring a box lunch for Lloyd, she saw Beau Vasquez.
She didn't recognize him at first.
After all, it was long ago when they were young.
Beau first laughed and then said, "You have grown up."
Ebony looked at him curiously.
Beau leaned his body against the back of the armchair. His solemn face now turned into a kind smile. He said, "Ebs, don't you remember uncle Beau? I've been waiting for your call."
Waiting for her call...
Ebony's eyes widened in surprise.
The memory of the past was like a dusty box, being slowly opened.
Her grandparents got caught in a car accident, and she woke up from a coma.
She became an orphan overnight.
Many people came to visit her in the hospital afterwards, including a very distinguished uncle, who he said was her father's friend.
The uncle wanted to adopt her, but she refused. She said she would wait for her mother.
The uncle left her a note with a phone number on it, but the note was thrown by Roxanne Gibson."
"Beau..."
Ebony looked at the middle-aged man in front of her.
She opened her mouth trying to call the man with an uncertain voice, "Uncle Beau?"
The smile in Beau's eyes became deeper, and he asked softly, "Now you've remembered me?"
Ebony was unable to speak.
She turned her head looking at Lloyd, and then looked at Beau again.
Lloyd, uncle Beau, Marshal Vasquez...
Ebony asked uncertainly, "Are you Marshal Vasquez?"
Beau said to Lloyd, "Lloyd, can you give us a minute? I'd like to have a word with Ebs alone."
Lloyd sat on the sofa, glancing at his father lightly. He leaned back, saying, "No."
Beau was lost for words.
Ebony was still in shock at the moment.
She thought about it for a while, turned her head and said to Lloyd, "I'd like to talk to him alone."
Lloyd stood up from the sofa. He stroked Ebony's hair, and said softly, "Call me over when you need help."
After saying that, he walked out of the room.
Beau was helplessly in silence.
Now there were just two of them in the room.
Ebony quietly looked at uncle Beau sitting opposite for a while, and finally she asked, "Are you really uncle Beau?"
Beau smiled.
Ebony pursed her lips, lowered her head and pondered for a while, and then she asked, "Have you eaten yet?"
Beau shook his head and said, "Not yet."
Ebony quickly got up and took out the box lunch prepared for Lloyd. She opened it up and said, "If you don't mind..."
Beau took the box lunch with a warm and cordial attitude, saying, "Back in the days when I was young in war, I ate everything, so I am not a picky eater."
Ebony also smiled. Her tension for seeing an elder had been relaxed a little.
The middle-aged man sitting on the sofa, held the box lunch and started to eat. He really felt at home.
Ebony sat opposite him, twisting the corner of her clothes with her fingers. She hesitated for a moment and then went on, "You and Lloyd..."
"We are father and son." As he was speaking, he took out the wallet from his pocket and handed it to her.
Ebony hurriedly refused by saying, "No, no. You don't need to give me money as a gift. I'd feel bad if I took it."
Ebony's reaction made Beau speechless.
He continued, "There is a photos in it."
How embarrassing!
Ebony suddenly remembered that when uncle Beau wanted to adopt her long ago, he showed her a family photo.
Ebony felt extremely embarrassed. Turned out he wasn't going to give her money.
She took his old wallet embarrassingly, and as soon as she opened it, she saw an old photo of a family of three on the side of it. It was just like what she saw years ago.
The last time Ebony saw the photo, she was too young to have an impression on it.
Looking at the photo now, she immediately saw Lloyd among the three.
He was a teenager in his teens, but his features had grown pretty delicate. Compared with what he was now, he looked very immature and youthful back then.
Ebony couldn't help but smile a little bit.
She thought to herself, "Lloyd was pretty cute when he was a kid."
Beau took a bite of the food. On seeing her smile, he said, "Your uncle was handsome, right?"
Ebony was speechless.
"Oh yes, you were!" Ebony quickly took a look at the adult man next to the boy. She was only looking at Lloyd.
The young Beau gave her a feeling of familiarity.
It seemed that this uncle Beau was really the same person she saw when she was a child.
Ebony closed the wallet and respectfully returned it to him.
Beau put the wallet in his pocket. He looked at Ebony's shy look, saying, "You are still as well-behaved as when you were a child."
Ebony hurriedly put her legs together, and straightened her back, trying to make herself look like a good girl.
Anyway, no matter how crazy children were when they were outside, in front of adults, they had to pretend to be obedient!
Beau became more and more satisfied with Ebony.
But the better she was, the more regretful he felt.
He put down the lunch box, looked at Ebony, and said hesitantly, "Regarding the termination of the engagement, actually..."
The termination of the engagement?
Ebony was stunned. She blinked and looked at the him.
When Beau saw the girl's gaze, he remembered that the child still didn't know her background!
He didn't finish his words.
Beau waved his hand and said, "Never mind."
Ebony blinked suspiciously.
Seeing she was looking at himself ignorantly, he explained, "It has nothing to do with you. It's Lloyd, and he had a fiancée..."
When speaking of the word "fiancee", Beau glanced at Ebony with a guilty look, and then continued, "The engagement has been canceled."
Lloyd and his fiancée canceled the engagement?
Ebony's eyes widened in surprise.
Beau hurriedly said, "Never mind. Forget about it." And then he started to eat again.
Ebony and Beau talked in the room for about ten minutes.
Beau finished his meal, and got up.
While wiping his mouth with a tissue, he said, "I still have something to do in the army, so I am going there. If you need anything in life, just tell Lloyd."
Ebony nodded obediently and sent Beau out.
Outside the room, Lloyd was on the phone.
Seeing his father came out, he put away his phone and walked over.
Beau patted Lloyd's shoulder, and left without saying anything.
After he left, Ebony looked at Lloyd, and asked hesitantly, "Well..."
Lloyd looked at her and asked, "Huh?"
Ebony bit her lip and lowered her head. She said, "Your father told me about your engagement."
Lloyd was amazed.
He immediately looked in the direction of the elevator, and saw that his father had already gone.
Lloyd's face darkened. He looked at Ebony deeply, "He told you everything?"
Ebony grabbed the corner of her clothes and nodded, "Yes, he did. I don't think I should hide it from you, so I feel like I should tell you."
Lloyd frowned, and he explained, "Ebony, in fact..."
"I know. I know all about it!" Ebony interrupted Lloyd's words.
She looked at Lloyd, who had a sad look, saying sympathetically, "You must be very sad to be dumped."
Lloyd was puzzled.
Ebony encouraged him by saying, "Don't feel daunted! It's that woman's problem if she dislikes you. Tell me her name and I will help you scold her."
