Chapter 38 I'm Your Dad, Ever-changing
"Yes, she's a Gibson," Moses Smith, who was also known as Moses Gibson, nodded, "but there are many people with the surname Gibson in this world. She is definitely not from our family. She is so beautiful. I wouldn't have forgotten it if I had seen her."
The voice on the other end quietened, "Are you in Sluvale now? I remember we have a relative in Sluvale called Ja something?"
"Jared Gibson," Moses had obviously asked about it before he came to Sluvale. "He has a daughter, but her name is Lorena Gibson, and she is not the same age as Miss Gibson."
"Humph," said the person on the other end of the phone. "No matter who she is, no one is qualified to steal our aunt's man!"
Moses agreed, "Although our aunt has been missing for nineteen years, Grandpa and Grandma have never given up searching, and our uncles have not given up either. I heard that there have been some clues in the past two years. When we have found her, Lloyd has to marry her no matter he wants it or not! Only the best man deserves the Gibson's daughter!"
"We'll talk about this later," said the person on the other end of the phone. "I've booked a flight. I'll get over there."
"Should we tell Mum and Dad?" Moses asked.
"Don't worry, we'll see after I come."
A few more words later, Moses hung up the phone and looked up again. Ebony Gibson was no longer at the other side of the street.
--
When they saw her coming, they both stood up.
Ebony Gibson smiled and said, "Sorry, I'm a little late."
"It's alright, Miss Gibson. We're sorry to trouble you," Rita Obrien's brother said politely.
Rita ran to Ebony's side at once, took her hand and said, "Ebony, I have shown my brother all the information you gave me. My brother is a lawyer. He said this battle could be fought if it's proven to be true!"
Ebony glanced at Rita's brother, who handed her a business card.
Ebony took it and saw the words "Lucas Obrien, Senior Lawyer" on it.
"Hello, Mr. Obrien," Ebony shook hands with Lucas.
They sat down and Lucas asked the waiter to serve the dishes. Soon, all the dishes were on the table. Ebony had not have dinner, so she immediately took a piece of beef.
Lucas smiled and said, "I've watched your variety show. My sister is ignorant. Thank you for taking care of my sister, Miss Gibson."
Ebony glanced at Rita.
Rita's flushed, obviously thinking of the times she had gone against Ebony in the show.
"It's okay, she's still young. Although she's a little affected, she's not unkind. I'm fine with her ignorance." Ebony picked up the hot beef and ate it in one bite.
Lucas was taken aback. He did not expect Ebony to be so frank with him.
"You're genuine, Miss Gibson," Lucas complimented. Then he got down to business, "The previous document..."
They discussed the matter over meal. By the time the meal was over, the matter had been discussed rather thoroughly.
The reason that Rita and Lucas Obrien asked Ebony out was because Ebony had sent Rita some information two days ago, which consisted mainly of the dark secrets of Bulllife Media. But the amount of information was too large, and Lucas and Rita could not believe it was true, so they asked Ebony out to ask her in person.
In fact, Ebony did not discover those dark secrets, but she had seen them in her previous life.

Bulllife Media was full of bad deeds and had a bad reputation in the industry. Although Rita's incident did not happen in the past life, Bulllife Media would still get into lawsuit after a few years when the people they offended exposed their dark secrets.
What Ebony was doing now was just sorting out some known facts and giving them to Rita and Lucas. It would be up to Rita and Lucas on the matter of how they wanted to use them.
They came out of the restaurant and Lucas offered to give Ebony a ride since he was driving.
Ebony accepted it gladly. Who would decline a free ride? She thought.
They drove all the way to the entrance of the hotel. Rita did not get out of the car as she would be easily recognized, and Lucas walked a little with Ebony.
Ebony knew from his look that he had something to say, but she was not in a hurry, so she waited.
Sure enough, Lucas took out a check from his wallet.
Ebony glanced at the number on it: a hundred thousand.
Lucas smiled bitterly, "It's not much, but take this as a little thank-you from me."
Ebony looked at Lucas in the face, "Mr. Obrien, you're a lawyer. You should know that it's illegal for you to give me this."
Lucas smiled and said, "You're well aware of the law, Miss Gibson, but this money is from me personally as a token of gratitude to you, and has nothing to do with my identity as a lawyer."
"It's not for you to say that it has nothing to do with your identity." Ebony said indifferently, "Besides, if you were to fight Bulllife Media, you'll need lots and lots of money just to influence the hot searches and public opinions. If you really want to thank me, I will accept your money after the matter is settled, but not now."
Ebony pushed the money back.
Lucas looked at Ebony in a different light, "You really did impress me, Miss Gibson."
Ebony nodded, "I am also impressed by myself. " A hundred thousand was an astronomical sum for Ebony, who did not have two pennies to rub together.
Enduring the heartache, Ebony wiped her face and said, "I've got to go."
Lucas watched Ebony get into the hotel.
When Lucas turned to go back to his car, he suddenly felt as if someone was watching him.
He looked around, puzzled, but didn't find anyone.
Was it an illusion?
Lucas ignored it, got in the car, and drove away.
It wasn't until the car drove away that Lloyd Vasquez, who was sitting in the back of a black BMW on the side of the road, drew back his indifferent gaze.
"Well, okay, yes," Mathew hung up the phone in the driver's seat, turned and said to his boss behind him, "Mr. Vasquez, Ivan said that he has already arrived and ordered a meal. We can just go back to the hotel instead of eating out."
"Mm," Lloyd answered noncommittally, and the car moved.
As the car passed the gate of the shabby and rudimentary little two-star hotel, Lloyd could not help but took another look.
Ebony was no longer there.
--
Carlton Gibson, who had flown over from Kopool, also thought this hotel shabby and rudimentary.
Carlton stepped into the hotel with a look of disgust and booked a room. He went into the room and made a call to his younger brother, Moses Gibson.
Moses was memorizing his lines when he received the call. He heard that his brother had arrived and hurried over.
When he arrived at Carlton's room, Moses saw as soon as the door was opened and before he said anything that his brother was looking at the tablet in his hand. Ebony Gibson's domineering voice issued from the tablet, "I'm your dad, ever-changing."
"Damn, this woman is something!" Carlton was watching the playback of Amazing Tour on his tablet with all his attention and a smile on his face. "This Ebony Gibson is really something, and she's starting to grow on me."
