Chapter 291 He Will Be Beaten if He Says That to the Others

Yvan didn't expect Ebony to say that. He was a little stunned for a moment. Then, he asked blankly, "Ebony, don't you think it's romantic?"

Ebony was speechless.

Ebony thought, 'Is it romantic to think that way?'

Yvan said, "If you could live with your loved one far away from the city and in a place with beautiful nature, wouldn't you find such a life very cozy and quiet?"

Ebony was speechless.

She thought, 'Is that so?'

Yvan continued with a smile on his face. "You don't need a big house. As long as you can have each other, anywhere you stay will be your home. And you don't need to have much money. It's enough for you two to have three light meals every day. When you walk out of your house, you will see the garden and the sea across the street. The little yard will be a happy place for you both."

Ebony was speechless.

Ebony looked embarrassed.

She wondered how many Chicken Soup for the Soul books Yvan had read. How did he become so odd?

Ebony whispered to Virginia, who was beside her, and said, "How long has your father been like this?"

Virginia didn't quite understand what Ebony meant. She chewed the rice in her mouth and asked, "Huh?"

Ebony didn't think Virginia would understand. Then she came up to Lloyd and asked quietly, "Has he seen a doctor?"

Lloyd was speechless.

Lloyd raised his hand to press his head that had a sharp pain and then said, "Some people do like this kind of life."

Ebony said with a surprised look on his face, "Like you?"

Lloyd said, "Like him."

Ebony looked at Yvan again and then said, "Is this the life that rich people live? You already have a big house, but you'd rather choose to live in a small house. You can eat delicacies, but you want to eat light meals. Whatever. Then you'd better remind him to talk to his family and friends about his wishes. He'll be beaten if he says that to the others."

Lloyd was speechless.

Finally, they finished their dinner.

While Ebony went to change the dressing on Virginia's wound, Lloyd took the dinner plates and went to wash the dishes.

Yvan followed Lloyd to the kitchen door and sighed at Lloyd. "I'm sorry. I failed you."

Lloyd washed the dishes skillfully as he said calmly, "It's okay. You had already helped me by shutting up later on."

Yvan was speechless.

Yvan frowned as he said, "Is it because I know too little about Ebony? Why does she seem to think differently from the other young girls? Do you know what she likes?"

Lloyd said, "She used to like money."

Yvan froze and then asked, "What about now?"

Lloyd said, "The same."

Yvan was speechless.

Yvan was confused and said, "What does she need so much money for?"

Lloyd was silent for a moment. He thought of the current situation of the Rhonten Group. Then he said, "According to her, she doesn't have to spend money, but she can't live without it."

Yvan was speechless.

After having dinner, Yvan was about to leave.

Virginia hid upstairs and didn't even want to go downstairs to see her dad off because she was afraid he would take her away with him.

Ebony called out to Virginia from downstairs for a long time. Seeing that Virginia was determined not to come downstairs, Ebony could only say to Yvan awkwardly, "I'll ask Lloyd to see you off."

Lloyd frowned.

Yvan smiled and said, "You don't have to."

Yvan looked at Ebony. After a moment's hesitation, Yvan reached out to touch Ebony.

Ebony froze. She tried to control the urge to break the arm of a stranger when one reached out to her. Then, she stood still and remained motionless.

Yvan placed his warm palm on top of Ebony's head. Then he whispered, "When you got lost, you were just a child. In the blink of an eye, you've grown up."

Ebony kept her head down as she controlled herself and remained silent.

Yvan felt her tense up. Then he sighed and withdrew his hand. He said gently, "It's okay. We'll have a lot of time to spend together. We can gradually get back our long-lost relationship, right?"

Ebony didn't know how to reply to Yvan, so she could only mutter a response to him.

Then, Yvan turned his head and looked at Lloyd as he said seriously, "Take good care of her."

Lloyd nodded his head steadily.

Yvan smiled and then left.

Virginia, who was lurking on the second floor, was not willing to poke her head out until the door was closed again.

Then Ebony waved at Virginia.

Virginia came running down the stairs.

Ebony picked Virginia up and pinched the tip of her nose as she said, "Why don't you say goodbye to your dad?"

Virginia buried her head in Ebony's neck and mumbled, "I can still see my dad later, but I won't see you anymore."

Ebony froze and then said, "Why won't you see me anymore?"

Virginia pursed her lips and said, "Because Lloyd is going to steal you away from me."

Ebony was speechless.

Lloyd chuckled and said, "You even know that?"

Ebony glared at Lloyd and then asked Virginia, "Who told you?"

Virginia grunted, "Grandma said so."

Ebony was speechless.

Lloyd asked curiously, "What else did grandma say?"

Virginia said, "Grandma also said that Lloyd was the enemy and told me to give him a hard time."

Lloyd was speechless.

Virginia spent another day at home.

On Monday morning, a staff member came to pick up Virginia and said that her guardian had arrived.

After dropping Virginia off, Ebony turned around and saw Lloyd sitting on the couch watching the news.

She walked over and tapped Lloyd on the shoulder from behind as she said, "Virginia just said goodbye to you. Why are you ignoring her?"

Lloyd put the remote down and held Ebony's finger as he said, "Sit down."

Ebony didn't sit down. Then she took her hand back, went around to the other side, and sit on a single couch with Rolls-Royce.

Lloyd smiled at her and said, "If you like kids, we can have our own later..."

"Rolls-Royce, go bite him!" Before Lloyd could say anything else, Ebony called the sleeping kitten up and urged it to attack Lloyd!

Rolls-Royce yawned. Then, it rolled over and crawled into Ebony's arms, cowering under her clothes and not coming out.

Lloyd said calmly, "It ate so much canned cat food from me that it won't bite me anymore."

Ebony tapped the kitten on its head and condemned, "You disappoint me!"

Rolls-Royce couldn't understand the human language either. It tilted its head, gently meowed at Ebony, and went back to sleep.

At that moment, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Lloyd got up and went to answer the door. When he came back, he was holding two oversized boxes with a card on top.

"A new mission card?" Ebony put the kitten down. Then she got up to bring the card over, flipped it open, and took a look.

After reading it, she froze.

Lloyd put the box on the coffee table and straightened up to ask, "What does it say?"

After a moment's hesitation, Ebony handed him the card.

After reading through the card, Lloyd froze for a moment. After quite a while, he read out the words written on the card. "Please take wedding photos within two days."
