Chapter 7
In fact, as soon as Vanessa Green left the bathroom, Lily Scott followed her out.
They walked back to the office area of the financial team one after another. There was less than three meters between them.
In ordinary days, people in the same team came out, either holding hands intimately or chatting side by side.
But at that time, they were like strangers. One was in a happy mood, the other was terrified. The self-evident atmosphere of gossips pervaded them.
Vanessa looked at her phone in the eyes of her colleagues, and then walked to Zoie Lopez's office.
The matter had been settled. Zoie didn't have to deal with her most annoying disputes among her subordinates. Her agitation after receiving Lily Scott's script had disappeared. At this moment, she sat lazily on the swivel chair, spinning the pen in her hand and looking at Vanessa in front of her with a smile.
"What Lily did is insincere. I just warned her and bore her mistakes in mind. The performance and year-end evaluation have been postponed. I'll definitely put an end to this situation in the future."
Seeing Vanessa's calm appearance, she said, "you are in the same team and often meet each other. It's impossible to fire her because of this thing, right?"
As a subordinate of Zoie for many years, Vanessa had known that Zoie always tried to mediate the differences at the sacrifice of principle. Thus, she didn't expect Zoie to give her a clear solution.
The grievances and embarrassment made her angry and feel difficult to subside.
Vanessa looked down at her nails and said nothing.
From Zoie's angle of view, Vanessa hung her eyes, and the curled eyelashes covered her eyes, but she pouted, showing her dissatisfaction.
Zoie suddenly felt a little helpless. As a woman, she even couldn't resist Vanessa's expression which was a bit natural and naive, like being pettish and disgruntled.
When her thoughts diverged, she thought of Vanessa's ex boyfriend.
She wondered that what kind of beauty made him leave Vanessa.
Or it was because men were just like this?
There was a strange silence in the office.
Zoie was deeply immersed in the philosophical problem that she could't come up with. Her mind didn't come back until she received a meeting invitation from her phone app. While reading the message, she said, "it ought to be stopped. Her script has been rejected, and yours will certainly be published in the Q4 key column this year."
Vanessa gave a lazy "um". When she stood up, she heard Zoie coax her, "it is not to compensate you. Your content is indeed much more valuable than her. Both of you have the same interviewees and similar outlines, but there is still a gap."
"Oh." Vanessa raised her eyebrows, showing some pride in her eyes, "there's no way. I'm more liked by Shawn Yeats."
"Fine." Zoie glanced at her while sorting out the meeting materials.
From her glance, she seemed to be saying, "what are you talking about, like after drinking fake wine?"
"I know that you are the best at deep exploration in our team. You don't have to be modest."
"..."
"I'm not modest."
"Why can't I reply on my appearance?"
____
"What did the chief editor say?"
In the afternoon, there was a summit forum in the financial center. Vanessa and Tracy Jones were arranged to participate in together. On the way, the topic they talked about naturally revolved around Lily Scott.
Tracy Jones looked at Vanessa's face and realized that she had not suffered any losses, "Has this matter come to an end?"
"How?" Vanessa took a small mirror to make up and said, "you know that Zoie doesn't want to give it a real play, she doesn't care at all. Can she let Lily to do the self-criticism under the national flag?"
"Tut..."
Tracy made a motion of vomiting, "this kind of situation occurred when I worked for the campus news agency. The person is still the top reporter of the TV station, developing very well. We can't deal with this kind of person who use dirty tactics to pass."
Vanessa didn't answer again, and pressed powder puff hard.
She bore a grudge and couldn't forgive easily.
Twenty minutes later, the taxi arrived at the destination and was pulling over.
Vanessa sat on the right and got off first. Tracy sat inside and was bending over to get off with her bag. At this time, Vanessa suddenly rushed in and pushed her inside, then closed the door.
"What are you doing?" Tracy almost fell down, and half of her body leaning on the seat, looking at Vanessa with panic, "is the ground outside hot?"

"Shh!" Vanessa made a "shut up" gesture to her and took a breath.
Hell, she just saw Jackson Scott.
It was pretty normal to see Jackson here since he worked here.
But he got off the driver's seat of a Mercedes Benz.
He changed new car so soon.
For a moment, Vanessa felt her head was smoking.
At ordinary times, she was not afraid to meet Jackson.
It was just that Jackson drove a Mercedes Benz, while she took a taxi. The contrast was obvious.
Vanessa wasn't saying a word. Tracy poked her head out and turned eyes to the front, just in time to see Jackson.
He went around to the trunk, carried something out and left.
Tracy blinked, "isn't he your boyfriend?"
"..."
"I try to make a bold guess and prove it. Did you break up?"
"..."
"And you were dumped."
"..."
"If I guessed right, you were not only dumped, but also cheated."
"..."
"Well, it seems that his new girlfriend is rich. He has changed his new car."
Vanessa sighed. Seeing Jackson go farther and farther, she was relieved. Her shoulder collapsed and she was dying to look at Tracy.
"You don't have to guess so accurately."
Tracy was not surprised that her analysis was correct, and even had some pride, "If I lose the acute abilities of collecting information in the current context and fully understanding, I would not be qualified for a journalist."
"..."
It was until Jackson entered a coffee shop that Vanessa opened the door and got off, followed by Tracy.
"Oh, it's ok." Seeing that Vanessa was walking so fast, Tract trotted to catch up with her. She didn't forget to look back at the Mercedes Benz parked at the roadside. "Mercedes Benz C is just more than 300,000. It's not a good car. The real rich people don't care about it, and we can also afford it with efforts."
Vanessa also looked back at that car, but she thought of Shawn Yeats.
He drives Rolls Royce and Bentley, but buys a Mercedes Bens worth 300,000 for his niece.
The man is not only mean, but also vulgar.
Thinking of Shawn, Vanessa touched her empty earlobe, as if deep in thought.
 ___
In the evening, the first rush hour of Lantrie CBD came. The pedestrians were in a hurry and the vehicles were in good order.
A black Rolls Royce slowly merged into the traffic.
Shawn sat in the back. He took off his glasses, closed his eyes and rubbed the brow ridge, with a meeting minutes at hand.
When he opened his eyes, he seemed to see a small dazzling thing on the seat next to him.
He put on his glasses, looked carefully and found that it was a pearl earring.
Shawn pinched it up and was wondering who had left it. Barron Chance's phone rang from the front row.
After connected, Barron said "Hmm" twice, hesitated for a moment, then turned around and handed over his phone to Shawn.
"Shawn, Vanessa Green from Financeweek is looking for you."
Shawn lowered his eyes, clasped the earring in his palm, and took over Barron' phone.
He answered calmly, and the other side spoke at once.
She said "president Yeats", and the ending sound was raised, which sounded a little flustered.
"I seem to have left my earring in your car. Have you seen it? It's a pearl earring."
Shawn loosened his palm again.
Night was about to fall, and the sky turned from dim yellow to dark blue. Only the searchlight on the driver's seat was on in the car, and the afterglow penetrated into the back. The pearl earring was shining in his palm.
"No."
"..." Vanessa paused and then said, "could you please have a look again? The earring is really important to me."
"How important is it?"
"..." Vanessa paused again.
Is that the point?
Forget it.
"It was... My grandma gave it to my mother, and then my mother gave it to me."
There was no sound across the phone.
Vanessa choked, "it's our family heirloom."
There was still no answer.
Vanessa took a deep breath, and her voice sounded like crying, "it...is my dowry. I'll wear it at my wedding in the future. When I see it, I'll think of my grandma. I haven't seen her for a long time."
The performance was sentimental and pitiful.
There was a moment of silence on the phone. Shawn's usual cold voice was a little muffled.
"Well, I see it now."
Vanessa squinted and smiled. She feel relaxed, stretching out and even turned around in a half circle.
The plan of using earring to get a chance to meet would work.
"Well..."
Vanessa didn't finish her words and waited for Shawn's reaction.
His voice from the other side sounded calm.
"Your dowry is plastic."
"..."
