Chapter 71
On a sweltering hot day, a group of guests came to Iroca.
Adare Manor was located in Emmerick. The terrain around it fluctuated, and the guests had suffered a lot on their way here.
Especially Emily, who was extremely carsick, ran to the trash can as soon as she got off the car.
But no one complained.
Although the wedding was grand, there were not many guests. They were all relatives and friends of Vanessa and Shawn.
Since Shawn was so meticulous, and his background relationship was crisscrossed, Vanessa thought that she was bound to see many strangers whom she had never met at the wedding a few months ago.
However, she didn't.
No business or social interests was weighing, only the guests who came to attend the wedding with their blessings.
It was the first time for the guests to attend such a grand and simple wedding.
It was sunny, the wind was gentle, and the sky was clear and bright.
Even the air was filled with fresh sweetness.
Rachel sat in front of the piano and sang for the new couple.
Holding Abbot's hand, Vanessa walked up to the arched gate full of flowers. She looked around again and again.
She wanted to look more carefully, hoping that every corner of the wedding would never fade in her memory.
However, when she saw her groom, she couldn't move her eyes anymore.
The fairy-like wedding arrangement was also overshadowed in her eyes.
Only he was there, she was the princess.
While Rachel was singing, Vanessa walked toward Shawn step by step.
For the first time, she felt that a song was so long and the flower road was so far.
The closer she got to him, the more excited she became.
For some unaccountable reason, she had butterflies in her stomach.
When Shawn was still more than ten feet away, it seemed that Vanessa couldn't wait any longer. Vanessa suddenly loosened Abbot's hand, lifted the hemline of her dress, and ran towards Shawn.
The white veil slowly fell, and the bride's smiling eyes brightened the world.
All the guests didn't come back to their senses from the surprise.
Only Shawn opened his arms to her when Vanessa lifted the hemline of her dress.
The white veil fell at Emily's feet.
Emily, Abbot, and all the other guests were stunned to see Shawn hugging Vanessa, who was rushing to him. He turned around slightly. When they steadied themselves, Shawn bent over and kissed her on the lips.
The applause and fireworks finally rang out in surprise at this moment.
Even the emcee, who had hosted hundreds of weddings, was stunned for a while.
When he came to his senses, his chubby face revealed a happy laugh sincerely.
Everyone present, including the bridegroom, the bride, the guests, and the staff, was affected by the atmosphere, with a smile on their faces.
It was the first time for the emcee to meet such a bride, and he almost said something wrong.
It was not easy for him to move on to the most familiar process. He looked at Vanessa and asked solemnly, "Vanessa Green, would you like to marry Shawn Yeats as his wife? No matter what happens, whether healthy or sick, whether rich or poor, you will always be together, be loyal to each other, be considerate to each other, respect and take care of each other forever?"
Vanessa kept nodding, "Yes, yes, I DO."
The audience burst into laughter again.
Only then did Vanessa realize that she seemed to be a little too excited, and her face flushed unconsciously.
She lowered her head and leaned toward Shawn.
Shawn raised his hand to encircle her head and block her in her arms, but his chest shook because of the smile.
He turned his head to look at the audience, and his voice came through the emcee's microphone.
"I'm sorry."
Vanessa was speechless.
The emcee asked Shawn the same question again.
Vanessa pursed her lips and looked at Shawn expectantly.
She thought that every bride's deepest memory should be to hear her lover say "I do" to her in person.
But Shawn was not as anxious as Vanessa.
He looked deeply into Vanessa's eyes. At this moment, the time was just like the future, quietly and affectionately flowing in his eyes.
"I do."
As he spoke in a deep voice, he raised his hand and stroked the long hair near her ear.
"I do."
He repeated.
When Vanessa had tears in her eyes, he said "I do" for the third time, then lowered his head and kissed her.
Many years later, it was expected that Vanessa could only remember every kiss, every look, and every sentence of Shawn on the wedding day. She had thought that she would remember the shape of the castle, the pattern of the rose pillars, and every beautiful dress on her body the most. But she didn't.
Oh, no, she was impressed by the evening dress.
It was an evening dress with a hollow wrapped silk belt on the back.
She wore the light pink dress and held Shawn's hand to propose a toast to the guests.
All the guests focused their attention toasting the bridegroom, not persuading the bride to drink. Therefore, after the dinner, Vanessa only blushed.
But Shawn drank a lot.
Although he didn't look drunk according to his face and actions, only Vanessa, who was holding his hand, could feel his body temperature rising little by little.
Until the dinner was over, the guests had to go back to their rooms, and Shawn could still see them off calmly.
But when it was their turn to go back, Shawn suddenly held Vanessa's hand tightly.
Shawn and Vanessa followed William and Valeria. The moment William and Valeria stepped into the elevator, Shawn suddenly pulled Vanessa and ran out.
The elders in the elevator looked at their backs, feeling both funny and extremely embarrassing.
"What are you doing?"
The corridor was long and quiet. Vanessa's hemline became a burden and she staggered.
Shawn looked back and picked her up.
"Ouch!" Vanessa wrapped her arms around his neck at ease but said, "What are you doing in public?"
Shawn didn't say anything but walked faster and faster.
They returned to the lawn where the wedding ceremony was held.
Before the decorations were moved away, Shawn took her through the rose arch to the place where they put the rings on each other,
"I forgot to tell you one thing today."
Vanessa asked, "what?"
"I wanted to tell you something here." He held her hand and pressed it on his chest. Under the starry sky, his drunken eyes were brighter than the stars. "The first time I met you was at the award ceremony in October of the year before last."
Vanessa's eyes widened, but she couldn't think of anything about Shawn.
It was a bad feeling that she couldn't remember anything. Vanessa regretted that she didn't notice Shawn at that time.
But Shawn didn't care about it.
The smell of alcohol in his breath was diluted in the night wind, but the affection in his eyes was getting stronger and stronger.
"I've been missing you for a long time, Mrs. Yeats."
This night, they kissed under the starry sky.
The wind with rose fragrance blew from the lawn to the room.
The moment they entered the room, Shawn put her against the door. His right hand slowly stroked the butterfly bone from Vanessa's waist and unwrapped the light pink silk in circles.
The room was full of love and sex.
Vanessa was immersed in the warm water of the bathtub, floating up and down in the water with the silk.
She put her hands on Shawn's shoulders and heard Shawn say in her ear again and again in the surging water wave.
"I love you."
