Chapter 54
Vanessa stood still, with her hands on both her sides. Shawn leaned against her quietly, breathing alcohol fumes all over her.
At this moment, Vanessa was standing here like a statue so foolishly. Smelling the whisky on Shawn's breath, Vanessa felt like she also got drunk.
Shawn snuggled up against her shoulder. It had been a long while, but Shawn didn't attempt to move, as if he was lingered there by the sweet smell of Vanessa.
Shawn's lips were close to her head and his breath tickled her ear.
They just clung to each other quietly like two lost souls, but there was something going on between them.
Vanessa slowly raised her hand and then gently fell on Shawn's back.
"How much did you drink?"
Shawn thought Vanessa was urging him, so he looked up and rubbed his neck.
"Just a little bit."
Then, Shawn walked straight in.
It was at Vanessa's house, but right now, Vanessa felt like she was an outsider. She paused for a moment and then followed in. After she closed the door, she looked back and saw Shawn leaning back on the sofa. He took off his coat and threw it aside.
Vanessa didn't say anything.
She was a bit startled by Shawn's look of having no sense of boundary.
Standing in the living room of her own house, Vanessa didn't know what to do right now. She looked around and then slowly approached the sofa. She squatted down and reached out to touch Shawn's face.
"Are you drunk?"
Shawn slowly opened his eyes and looked at her.
"Kind of."
Unable to resist the impulse, Vanessa touched Shawn's glasses.
It was said that people who wore the glasses would feel offended and insecure if someone took off their glasses suddenly.
But at this moment, Vanessa just felt that she became brave under the influence of alcohol and slowly took off Shawn's glasses.
She wanted to see what Shawn looked like without glasses when he was drunk.
Shawn just looked at Vanessa directly, and his eyes were even deeper than usual when he was drunk.
He just stared straight at Vanessa with his misty bright eyes.
Vanessa's heart missed a beat, and she suddenly blushed. The next second, she put the glasses back on the bridge of his nose.
Then, she explained out of nervousness.
"I just want to know if you can see clearly without your glasses," she said, "How good is your vision?"
"I am nearsighted with 4.5 diopters," Shawn said.
Vanessa actually didn't pay much attention to what Shawn said. After hearing the answer, she nodded and said, "So, you can't see things very clearly without your glasses, right?"
Shawn closed and opened his eyes slowly.
"Don't worry! I can still see you clearly."
Vanessa didn't say anything.
"What's wrong with him?" she thought.
Vanessa was very surprised to find that Shawn was totally a different person after he was drunk.
But, she kind of liked the new Shawn.
With a smile, Vanessa moved closer to Shawn and poked him on the chin.
"Will you still remember what happened today when you wake up tomorrow?" she asked.
Shawn half-closed his eyes with a faint smile. Without the usual coldness in his eyes, he just smiled with raised eyebrows.
Vanessa thought Shawn really looked like a beckoning demon right now.
Now, the demon asked near her ear in a demagogic voice, "So, what happened today?"
Vanessa blushed and didn't say anything.
Shawn traced the line of her jaw with his finger and said, "Tell me."
Vanessa didn't know what to say.
But soon, she no longer felt shy.
After all, it was him who crossed the line, not her. She didn't need to feel embarrassed.
So, Vanessa supported herself on her arms and bent over Shawn, with just a little condescending attitude.
"You kissed me forcibly today!"
However, Shawn didn't show any trace of embarrassment as Vanessa thought.
Instead, he smiled and rubbed Vanessa's lips gently.
"Forcibly? But you liked it, right?"
Vanessa didn't know what to say.
In Shawn's gaze, she blushed visibly.
Now she realized that the others might just have overstepped the mark when they got drunk.
But Shawn totally changed into a different person when he was drunk.
"Shawn?" Vanessa waved her hand before Shawn's eyes and said, "Are you still Shawn?"
Shawn closed his eyes and let out a groan.
After seeing that Shawn could even answer such a boring question, Vanessa's interest was aroused. She looked at him and said with a seductive tone, "Call me baby."
However, Shawn made no reaction.
Vanessa pinched his face and repeated bravely, "Call me baby."
Shawn slowly opened his blurred and attractive eyes under Vanessa's gaze.
He opened his mouth and called Vanessa in a breathy voice.
"Baby."
His drunk soft voice went straight into Vanessa's ear.
Vanessa suddenly didn't know what to do next.
She was breathing quickly and tried to calm herself. Her's hands clenched tightly, and she slowly lost her mind.
"Will you really remember what you said when you wake up tomorrow?" Vanessa said wistfully," Will you become that cold Shawn again?"
Shawn smiled. "But you still like me, don't you?"
Vanessa made no answer.
Meanwhile, she was wondering to let Shawn get drunk every day.
Shawn smiled, but something manly suddenly showed in his eyes.
"Then, it's better to leave some proofs."
As soon as he finished speaking, Shawn suddenly held Vanessa tightly by her waist. The next second, Vanessa fell on him.
Vanessa was leaning on the sofa, but now, Vanessa leaned against Shawn, and her head pressed on Shawn's shoulder.
"You..."
As she was about to say something, Vanessa felt a wet gentle touch on her neck.
She immediately stiffened and remained motionless in her present position.
Then, Vanessa suddenly felt intermittent pain in her neck.
Shawn was kissing and gently nibbling her neck.
Vanessa dared not to say anything.
She clenched her hands and didn't know what to do.
Vanessa was very afraid of pain, but right now, she didn't push Shawn away. Instead, she was kind of enjoying the strange sense of comfort in pain.
The time seemed to stop in the room, and only the sounds of their gasps could be heard.
The night outside the window was dotted with sporadic flickering lights.
Vanessa frowned and moaned as she felt the soft pain in her neck.
Having no idea how long passed, Shawn's lips finally left her neck while his fingertips against her neck.
"These are proofs."
Shawn's soft voice echoed near Vanessa's ear, and she felt that her skin was burning. Her breath came in convulsive gasps, and she struggled to stand up, but Shawn reached out and pressed her head against his chest.
"Don't move! Just a moment."
Vanessa immediately stopped moving after hearing Shawn's words.
She leaned quietly against Shawn and could hear the sound of Shawn's slow and heavy breathing.
Vanessa still felt that the skin of her neck was burning.
Shawn's chest heaved, and Vanessa began to hear her own taut, shallow breathing.
It was Shawn who was drunk, but Vanessa now felt that she was the one who was drunk.
After a while, Vanessa felt that Shawn seemed uncomfortable.
She opened her eyes and looked at Shawn.
"Are you okay?"
Shawn made no answer.
Vanessa slowly stood up, and Shawn didn't stop her this time.
Vanessa was really worried about Shawn, but meanwhile, she also wanted to give herself a chance to calm down.
"I'll go get you the water."
Vanessa didn't like drinking, and even when she had to have a drink, she would only drink a little, so there were no medicines to sober up in her house.
But, there was honey in the kitchen.
So, Vanessa walked to the kitchen and poured a cup of hot water. Then, she added some honey to the water.
Vanessa slowly stirred the steaming water, absent-minded.
Occasionally, Vanessa touched her burning cheeks.
If there were a mirror, she must have seen her shy look in love.
And if Shawn looked at her like this, he would definitely make fun of her.
Therefore, Vanessa stayed in the kitchen for ten minutes and didn't walk out until she calmed down.
When she came out of the kitchen, Vanessa suddenly caught sight of the full-length mirror in the hallway, and a thought flitted through her mind.
In the living room, Shawn still lay on the sofa with his eyes closed.
Vanessa slowly walked to the mirror with the honey water in her hand.
She raised her head and saw the love bites on her neck in the dim light.
The memories of what happened just now suddenly came to her mind vividly again with the feelings of Shawn's lips moving across her neck and the sounds of Shawn breathing.
Suddenly, Vanessa raised her free hand and touched her neck.
While she was immersed in her reflection in the mirror, a figure suddenly appeared behind her.
Shawn showed up suddenly with his coat in his hand.
He just stood right behind Vanessa, and through the mirror, they looked at each other.
"What are you doing here? You've been standing here for ten minutes."
"I'm enjoying my beauty," Vanessa said calmly.
Vanessa didn't feel embarrassed at all.
After all, she was now facing a drunk man, and there was no need to reason with him.
Shawn, however, didn't say anything and didn't move at all. He slightly leaned against the wall while looking at Vanessa deeply in the mirror.
They just stood there for a long while.
Vanessa was a bit confused, so she asked, "What are you doing here?"
Shawn looked at her in the mirror and said calmly, "I'm enjoying your beauty."
Vanessa was speechless.
She did feel no embarrassed when she said that.
But now, standing here with him and hearing Shawn say this in a flirting tone, she immediately blushed.
Vanessa handed the honey water to Shawn.
"Come on! Drink it! I hope this may sober you up."
Shawn took over the glass of honey water, raised his head slightly, and drank it all. Meanwhile, he looked down at Vanessa with a faint smile.
He swallowed the honey water while staring at Vanessa. His eyes glowed with Vanessa's reflection.
His eyes were so deep with an unclear desire burning in the depth.
Vanessa could feel her face reddening with embarrassment.
Other men might only act like fools when they drank too much.
However, Shawn looked like he was erotogenic.
Vanessa took a step back and said, "Have you done looking at me?"
"Yep."
Shawn casually placed the glass on the shelf beside him.
"Are you leaving now?" Vanessa asked when she saw that Shawn grabbed his coat.
"You don't want me to leave?"
There was still a distant look in Shawn's eyes. The honey water helped to moisten his dry throat, and Shawn said gently, "Do you want me to stay here tonight?"
"No." Vanessa turned her back to him and said in a low voice. "I'm wondering if I should send you home. After all, if you get lost, I won't have a boyfriend."
Then, Vanessa fell into silence, waiting for Shawn to respond.
Vanessa thought that if Shawn said that he wasn't her boyfriend yet, she would definitely kick him out of the room at once.
Then, the drunk Shawn might die in the cold night and be found tomorrow morning. Then, she would be the suspect.
As Vanessa was woolgathering, Shawn's hand suddenly slipped to her chin from behind and pinched it gently.
"Don't worry! Your boyfriend will not get lost!"
Vanessa froze for a while and then smiled.
When Shawn opened the door, Vanessa suddenly pulled him.
"Wait a moment! Give me your phone."
Shawn took out his phone and unlocked it before he handed it to Vanessa.
Vanessa took over his phone and turned around. Then, she corrected her name on Shawn's Whatsapp.
Then, she found her phone number and did the same thing. After doing that, she handed the phone back to Shawn.
"Okay! You can leave now!"
...
The next morning.
Breakfast was already served on the table in the dining room on the first floor.
The Yeats family preferred light meals. Besides, Shawn didn't feel comfortable last night, so the cook prepared soup for him.
When everyone sat at the table, Sophia lowered her head sleepily, as if she would fall asleep the next second. Her hair tumbled every which way.
Suddenly, the phone on the table vibrated.
Sophia quickly reached for her phone, and as she answered the phone, she suddenly opened her eyes widely after she saw the name shown on the screen.
"Sweetheart?"
Sophia immediately came back to her senses and realized that she got the wrong phone.
What was more important was that there were only Shawn, Edward, and William except for her.
Sophia raised her head and was about to ask whose phone it was. Then, she suddenly noticed Shawn's cold gaze.
Sophia was startled.
The phone in her hand fell on the table.
However, as Shawn picked up his phone, Sophia asked subconsciously, "Who's your sweetheart?"
As soon as she finished speaking, both Edward and William all looked at Shawn.
And Shawn glanced coldly at Sophia.
Sophia lowered her head and whispered, "Just forget it!"
Then, Shawn calmly answered the phone.
Vanessa's voice sounded on the phone.
"Did you get up?"
Shawn said, "Yeah."
Vanessa continued to ask, "Have you had breakfast?"
Shawn glanced over the others and said calmly, "I'm having breakfast now."
Vanessa then said nothing.
As expected, Shawn again became that cold man after he sobered up.
After a short silence, Shawn said, "Anything else?"
"No," Vanessa replied.
Then, she directly hung up.
Hearing the beep on the phone, Shawn frowned and put down his phone.
Meanwhile, Edward and William were still looking at him.
Edward suddenly smiled and looked away.
And William gave a quiet cough and asked, "Your girlfriend?"
"Yeah," Shawn said.
Sophia's eyes suddenly lit up, and she asked Shawn the question that everyone was thinking, "I never found that you're such a man that is mild on the outside but wild on the inside! Sweetheart!" Sophia couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Shawn put down his spoon and looked at Sophia with a smile.
"Your stomachache is gone?"
Sophia then stopped laughing. She suddenly had a bad feeling.
Sophia blinked with guilt and said, "Yeah. Thanks for your concern, uncle."
"Then, you can go back to work!" Shawn said calmly.
Sophia's eyes widened.
...
After breakfast, Shawn left home and went to the Mondred Group.
After getting into the car, he received a call from Barron and then checked his phone.
As expected, Vanessa's name on his phone was changed into 'sweetheart'.
He didn't know when it changed, but he was sure that he had never done that before.
He looked at his phone and sighed. Then, he called Vanessa.
After a while, Vanessa finally answered the phone and said coldly.
"What's up?"
"Are you going to work?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah," Vanessa said still in a cold voice.
Shawn heard the noise in the background and asked, "Where are you now?"
Vanessa said, "On the street."
Shawn finally noticed the coldness in Vanessa's tone.
He felt a bit tired and didn't know what to do.
Then, Shawn coaxed Vanessa gently in a soft voice.
"What's going on?"
It was a hot day today.
Vanessa, who was wearing a turtleneck, now stood in the sun, sweating.
But Shawn, who caused this, asked her what was going on.
"Nothing! I'm just thinking about something."
Shawn asked, "What's that?"
"My boyfriend is so cold! And I thought about it. It should be my fault." "
"What?"
"I should find myself a boyfriend who isn't so cold."
