Chapter 14

Chapter 14
Paisley wake up again, because the phone rang.
It kept ringing annoyingly with the screen flashing. Just when she was about to answer the phone, the screen darkened.
Paisley sat up and fingered her hair. She felt uncomfortable. She was thirsty and having a headache. She felt like she'd been run over by something, and she felt sore all over her body. She had no idea what had happened or where she was. She was muddle-headed and didn't know what was going on until she saw the dried blood stain on the white sheet.
Realizing what had happened, Paisley suddenly stiffened. Matthew?
He was sleeping beside her, with the quilt that was mostly on the edge of the bed, revealing his smooth and strong waist with the bright texture of scratches on it. Matthew used one arm as a pillow and put the other around Paisley's waist. He looked like a harmless sleeping cat with his eyes closed and his mouth tilting upwards slightly at the corners.
Paisley was very angry. She shook off his hand on her waist and then threw back the sheet to check out her body. She wrapped herself in despair. From her chest down, there were kiss marks. Some bruises scattered on her white skin. All of these things cruelly reminded her of what happened last night.
She hugged herself in terror, feeling a wave of nausea. She felt the chill coming from the skin that he had touched. Her tears fell silently. She wanted to cry, but she could not make a sound in her throat. What came to her mind was a sense of powerlessness and disgust at the man beside her.
She wanted to kick him down! She hated him!
She didn't want to wake up to face all this.
She felt giddy when she saw the red blood stain, and she would ignore him forever!
However, terrible things didn't seem to end. The mobile phone rang again. It kept ringing. It was her mom calling. She immediately hit the answering button with trembling hands as if it was her life-saving straw. What should I do? What should I do? How would I tell her? How would I tell her? But before she could speak, her mother's angry voice came from her mobile phone,
"You! Where the hell are you?"
She was running with her hair tied randomly and her clothes half buttoned.
When she left, she looked back again. She saw the innocent face of the man sleeping beside her and the dazzling blood stain. She gritted her teeth and ran out.
It was just about four o'clock, and it was still dark.
She looked for a taxi while running. Finally, she found one and said to the driver, "Go to the hospital."
She looked terrible. Her eyes were red, her face was white, and the corners of her mouth were broken. Although it was not cold, she was quivering uncontrollably. Noticing her trembling like this, even the driver started to worry about her. "Miss, are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Please drive faster."
She shook her head with clenched fists and fingernails pressed into her palms. But she did not feel pain. Her mother's words were in her ear.
"Where the hell were you?
"Didn't I ask you to deliver medicine to Grandpa?
"Your grandfather..."
Madison stopped to speak to her. An ambulance siren and noisy voices emerged from the phone.
Paisley was still trembling, so she held herself tight. She silently said to herself, "You will be all right, Grandpa. You will be all right. Don't worry, otherwise I can't stand it. I really can't stand it. You are my only one whom I can depend on."
She bit her lips. The closer she was to the hospital, the more she felt that her blood was frozen and cold. She had a sense of foreboding. No, he wouldn't. She hugged herself harder than before. No, he wouldn't.
But when she got out of the taxi and walked to the emergency room, she saw someone lying on the bed, covered with white cloth and pushed out. The doctor said to her mother impatiently, "I told you that your father had died last night. Why don't you believe me..."
"No, my father was fine yesterday."
Impossible. Grandpa was still fine when I came out yesterday!
She staggered, and was almost dizzy. Fortunately, there was a trash can beside her, which supported her. She heard the doctor say to her mother continuously, "Sudden cerebral thrombosis. You dad was all alone last night, so nobody found out. He died at twelve at night."
Paisley shook her head and thought, "No. It's impossible." She dared not even look at the white sheet. She couldn't believe that her grandpa who loved her so much had passed away.
With her tears falling down, she walked a few steps unsteadily, and before her mother, she whispered, "Mom..."
Her voice was hoarse and weak. She shakily stood in front of her mother. Seeing Paisley, Madison seemed to find an outlet for all her grief. She rushed over and then suddenly stopped. Her eyebrows were frowned as she looked Paisley up and down with great hatred. Then she stared at Paisley in shock. "You......"
She lowered her head. She thought, I'd rather die, than live alone. She was wearing Matthew's T-shirt. Her own clothes were torn and could not be worn. She nervously held the clothes tight to cover her chest. However, it seemed that Madison had already figured something out. She stepped forward and saw the unusual mark on Paisley's neck.
How could her mother not understand what it was about? Her mother was angry and could hardly stand. Her mother raised her hand and slapped her daughter in the face. "Where did you go to fool around? Didn't I ask you to buy medicine for Grandpa and accompany him?"
"Mom," she said in a supplicating voice.
"Don't call me mom. I don't have a daughter like you." Madison was so mad that she could hardly breathe. Then she pushed Paisley violently and said, "Go away. Just go away. I wish I didn't have a child like you. All you do is fooling around. You are like your heartless father."
She was pushed back several steps, but she dared not contradict. She silently let her mother scold her. She was cold, and the beaten part was swollen shamefully. She didn't dare to look up. The accusation was like a huge mountain, which made her unable to lift her head. She thought, my mother is right. I am shameless. I went out to fool around, I didn't buy medicine for Grandpa, and I didn't accompany him...
Yes, Grandpa? How is Grandpa? She looked up in panic. With her face swelling, she looked very embarrassed. She plucked up the courage to ask, "Mom, how is Grandpa?"
At the mention of Grandpa, Madison also broke down. Stopping beating Paisley, she turned around and walked to see the man lying in bed. She burst into tears. "Dad, my poor dad..."
The wails, like ice arrows, struck into Paisley's heart and broke it badly.
Although being near the bed, she dared not look at it. She didn't want to face all this. But she finally raised her feet and moved forward step by step. Each step seemed to exhaust all her courage and strength. She stood in front of the bed and shakily took away the white sheet.
A familiar face. He seemed to be sleeping and dreaming.
There was no sign of injury or pain on his face. He just fell asleep with his eyes closed.
But he would never smile at her again. He couldn't save her from trouble any more or cover her with a warm military coat, and she could never lean against his back or be a spoiled child in front of him. He was gone...
With her tears falling on the face of Grandpa, she choke, "Mom, what's wrong with Grandpa?"
Her mother didn't hear that. She was still crying. She thought, I lose my father, I become an orphan. In the future, nobody will nag her about her remarriage, nobody will worry about whether she has a good meal or not or boozes or not. She has become an orphan and a child without a father.
She cried sadly and desperately, "Dad, it's my fault. You've been lying on the floor all night without anyone knowing..."
Her father had a sudden cerebral thrombosis and collapsed in the living room. He was alone at home and died. When she got home, she found him dead. She didn't believe it. She called an ambulance and sent him to the hospital for rescue. But it was too late. He passed away quietly without seeing any relatives.
With her tears falling on the old man's cold face, Paisley touched Grandpa's face. Grandpa's face was cold. She hugged him and put her face on his. It was still cold. It was she who made Grandpa so cold. If she didn't go to Mo Cheng's birthday party, she wouldn't get drunk, and she would buy medicine and accompany Grandpa. If Grandpa got sick, she would send him to the hospital in time, so he wouldn't pass away.
Yes, that's right. If it wasn't for Mo Cheng, Grandpa wouldn't die! It's all Mo Cheng's fault! His fault!
She stood up. She gently wiped the tears off Grandpa's face, bit by bit, very carefully, very gently. She didn't want to let Grandpa feel pain at all. She wiped away her tears and looked at the man she loved most in her life. She looked strange, tender and painful.
Grandpa, I will avenge you.
From the bottom of her heart, she hoped that all her broken heart would harden into a sharp knife, facing herself and Matthew at the same time.
Yes, it's all Mo Cheng's fault! He forced her and let her lose her grandfather!
Grandpa, I'll be back soon to accompany you.

She put her face on Grandpa's face again, and stood up decisively and walked out without looking back.
"Where are you going?" Her mother shouted to her.
She didn't look back. She casually called a taxi car and soberly told the driver where she wanted to go.
When she got off the taxi, it was still gray. There were few people on the street. There was a fruit stand nearby. She came over to its boss, who greeted enthusiastically: "Little girl, buy fruit?"
She took out the money and pointed to the long watermelon knife, "Can you sell it to me?"
The boss said, "Little girl, I sell fruit."
"Is that enough?" She took more money out.
She bought the knife, wrapped it in newspaper, put it in her bag, held it tightly in her arms, and walked towards the club where Matthew stayed overnight. Her hands shook, but her mind was clear. Her face was white and blue, but her eyes were clear and bright. She was in despair. She got a room card from the receptionist. She said to the receptionist that she left her card in the room, and the receptionist didn't think much about it.
On the way to Mo Cheng's room, she met Zhao Yishu, who rubbed his temples and came out of a room, with his hair and clothes being a bit messy. It seemed that he had drunk a lot last night. When he saw her, he called out, "A Nuo."
She did not answer. She was indifferent and walked forwards, holding her knife tightly.
She wanted revenge. She wanted to kill the ruffian. She was afraid that if she was discouraged, she could do nothing.
She opened the door and rushed in regardless of whether it was closed.
Matthew was still asleep like a log with the quilt in his arms. He didn't know what he did to her or what happened to her.
She took out the knife, threw away the bag, held the handle tightly, and step by step, came to Mo Cheng. With her eyes being red, she wanted to kill him! He said he loved her, but forced her!
But her hand could not help shaking. The closer she came, the more her hand shook.
She was an aloof girl, but she has never hurt anyone. She was just used to arming herself like a hedgehog full of thorns. She was not close to anyone for fear of hurting or being hurt by others.
It was he, Mo Cheng, who told her to believe him, but what did he do to her?
She raised the knife. Her heart trembled. Fear, despair, and sadness all surged together. Grandpa died, and she did not want to live. She wanted to end all this.
She looked at Mo Cheng, who was unprepared. The past sweetness came forth and she almost gave up. But Grandpa's face appeared in her mind. It was so cold that Grandpa could not come back again. Her heart ached. She closed her eyes, yelled, and was about to stab him.
"A Nuo, you are mad!" Zhao Yishu held her wrist, looked at her incredulously. He grabbed the knife and threw it far away. He said angrily, "What are you doing?"
The knife was thrown on the wall and made a loud noise. Mo Cheng was awakened. Looking at the two people in the room, he was surprised, "What's wrong with you?"
When Matthew spoke, she collapsed and went crazily to grab the knife.
"I will kill you, I will kill you!"
Because Zhao Yishu was here, she could not get the knife again.
Zhao Yishu put away the knife, closed the door, pressed her on the chair, "What's the matter with you?"
What's up? She was crazy, and also wanted to know what happened. Overnight, she was forced by her boyfriend, and she lost her grandfather. She only drank a few glasses of wine. Why did she wake up and lose everything? The most precious thing was gone!
Matthew was very confused. He frowned and sat by the bed with his upper body bare. His head was still very confused.
As soon as Zhao Yishu saw his bare upper body and the mess in the room, his heart felt a little heavy.
He couldn't bear it. He found a bathrobe and threw it to him. Mo Cheng put it on and pushed away the sheet. The blood stain was suddenly exposed to the three people, which was a dazzling reminder of what happened here last night.
She looked away painfully, and Zhao Yishu suddenly understood.
He grabbed Mo Cheng's collar and said, "What did you do to A Nuo?"
"This..." Matthew was frightened, his face white, and looked anxiously at Paisley.
"Bastard!" Before he answered, Zhao Yishu hit him with punches, "Are you crazy? This is A Nuo. who is she? You don't know? How can you do this?"
"I..." Matthew wanted to say something, but when he opened his mouth, he didn't say a word. Mo Cheng silently received punches from Zhao Yishu. With his eyes being red, Matthew looked at her with the worry and guilt. Matthew was confused, and he remembered that she refused and struggled, but he could not control himself.
She didn't look at him, as if it didn't matter to her. She felt that what happened yesterday was like a piece of rag. She wanted to cover it, but she could not. Finally, she showed it to others shamefully. She didn't cry any more. She held herself stupidly, and her heart was empty. She just kept thinking - what would she do after her grandfather passed away?
Matthew was pushed in front of her. He was beaten black and blue. He knelt in front of her and sobbed, "A Nuo..."
Matthew reached out to touch her, but she shunned. She stood up and looked around coldly.
She looked at Zhao Yishu who was filled with righteous indignation and said, "You were here last night. Why didn't you stop?"
Zhao Yishu's face turned red, and said shamefully, "I drank too much..."
"Too much?" She repeated it. She looked at Matthew bitterly, "Then you? You must have drunk too much?"
"A Nuo, I..."
"Don't call my name." She shouted uncontrollably, covering her ears with her hands, "I feel sick when I hear you call my name!"
She stepped back and looked at both of them. She smiled nervously, "You drank too much, and you didn't know. Why?"
She pointed to her chest and said, "Why should I suffer like this?"
She didn't want to. When she woke up, the dearest person left. Grandpa lay on the cold floor and nobody could help him. She should have help him, but she didn't. Grandpa would not have died. Tears fell from the corners of her eyes. She looked at them spitefully, "You don't know what I lose!"
Her love, her trust, the man she tried to trust and accept, died! All dead!
She remembered that she refused it before. But he did it brutally, he had no pity for her, he made her hurt from body to heart.
What promise? His promise is false! What Du Yiling said is right: He is villainous!
Grandpa passes away. She will never see him for the rest of her life. She misses him, but she will never see him or find him.
She was still crying. She pushed Zhao Yishu away without even looking at Mo Cheng, and haltingly walked out.
Mo Cheng wanted to catch up, but Zhao Yishu stopped him, "She won't want to see you!"
She really didn't want to see him. She didn't want to see him at a glance! All the time, every second, every minute, every hour, every day, she didn't want to see him.
She went out. Before returning to the hospital, she changed her clothes. She could not go to see her dearest person with shameful marks. But she still felt dirty. Even if she changed her clothes, she still felt dirty.
She didn't notice that Zhao Yishu and Matthew secretly followed her.
They saw her return to the hospital.
Lan Qingqiu was very tired. She didn't have the strength to scold her daughter anymore. She said hoarsely, "A Nuo, take a good look at your grandfather. He is leaving."
The body was sent to the mortuary.
"Why?" Paisley asked foolishly. She couldn't bear the thought of leaving her grandfather. She hadn't yet said goodbye to him. She wanted to take a good look at him.
But others didn't give her time. When the white sheet settled like the dust on the face of the dearest person, her heart stopped beating as if struck by lightning. She endured heart-wrenching pain and great despair. She didn't want it, and she couldn't live without Grandpa...
She ran after him. Don't take my grandfather away. Please, don't take him away. I only have him. Only he cares about me.
She couldn't stop them from taking her grandfather away, just like her life that she couldn't change again and again, she lose what she loved.
This time, she has grown up, but she is still unable to change. Destiny is like a surging river, always drowning her.
The mother and daughter cried together as if they were abandoned orphans. With her vision being blurred, the daughter was so painful that she could hardly live.
She hugged her mother and sobbed, "Mom, I really want to die. I don't want to live at all."
She really wanted to die. How could she go without her grandfather?
Matthew, who stood in the corner, was heartbroken.
He wanted to go over and hold her in his arms as before, coaxing her and teasing her. He knew her. She seemed cold, but in fact, her heart was softer than anyone. This time, he could not, because he was unqualified.
He didn't know what happened last night, although it happened.
He leaned against the wall and slowly slid down. His eyes were red and his heart seemed to be torn.
Zhao Yishu looked at the crying mother and daughter, and at Matthew, feeling helpless.
What people possess should be cherished.
You hate me so much,
You may not let me go.
