Chapter 122 She Pursued Him in the Way Teresa Suggested
The Old Madam looked at her grandson while he looked at her.
She parted her lips many times and wanted to say something but remained silent. Finally, she burst into laughter.
Hubert's face darkened as he watched his grandmother laugh out loud.
The Old Madam laughed as he patted Hubert's shoulder. And Hubert had to hold his grandmother because he was afraid that she would laugh so excitedly that she would fall.
After quite a while, the Old Madam stopped laughing. She said, "Hubert, I was wrong about you. Teresa has practiced sparring. And that's true. She has great fighting skills. She'd have no problem fighting with eight or ten rascals."
"In my opinion, when you see Teresa in danger next time, even though she doesn't need your help, you'd better go help her. And you'd better get hurt a little. And Teresa will feel guilty and treat you better."
Hubert's face darkened. He pursed his thin lips tightly.
"It will take a little trick to pursue a girl. The most important thing is that you have to be true to her."
Hubert said coldly, "Grandma, I'm not going to pursue her."
"Alright. Fine. You'll never pursue Teresa. And you just won't admit it. There will be a time when you beg me. Whatever."
Hubert's face clouded over. Was she really his grandmother?
Why did he think his grandmother was just waiting to see him make a fool of himself?
Her grandmother sounded a bit gleeful.
The Old Madam's driver came driving toward them.
"I'll leave first. Keep running slowly. If you don't have an appetite for breakfast, learn from me. My tricks still work. I'm more experienced than you."
Then the Old Madam tapped Hubert on the shoulder. She walked smilingly to her car and asked the driver, "Did Mr. Vega ask you to bring the packed breakfast?"
"I did. They're in the car."
The Old Madam muttered in reply.
Hubert thoughtfully pulled open the door and helped his grandmother into the car. He pursed his lips and remained silent when he saw three insulated lunch boxes on the seat next to him.
Then, his grandmother left.
Hubert stood still and watched his grandmother leave.
After a few moments, he walked back.
Then, he finished his morning run.
When he got back to the villa, he changed his clothes. Then, he went downstairs to have breakfast.
Because his grandmother asked Mr. Vega to pack three lunch boxes for her to take away, the breakfast the chef prepared for Hubert was packed. Then, the chef made breakfast for Hubert in a hurry. Because of the rush, the chef did not make him a big breakfast.
Hubert did not have a good appetite, so he did not care whether his breakfast was big or not.
After having breakfast, he drank half a cup of coffee to freshen up. Then, he went out with a group of bodyguards.
The concrete road in front of the villa connected to the big highway outside. This was the only way for the residents to go out.
Hubert's fleet of vehicles was forced to stop halfway across this road.
A car had stopped in the middle of the road.
It was not a formal road, which was wide enough for two cars to pass side by side. The driver began to slow down. Otherwise, the cars could easily collide with each other.
And the car happened to be stopped in the middle of the road, which made it impossible for the car behind to pass either to the left or to the right.
The driver honked his car horn.
The driver of the car crawled out from under the car and said loudly in embarrassment, "My car is broken down."
Hubert's driver turned to Hubert and said, "Mr. Donovan, there's a car broken down up ahead."
Hubert was thinking about something else. When he heard what the driver said, he just glanced at the car in front of him and said, "You two get out of the car, and go check it out. Help him out if you can. If it takes too long, tell everyone to get out of the cars and work together to push his car to the side. Otherwise, his car will stand in the way of others. Then, you guys tell him to call for someone to tow his car away."
"Roger that."
Then, his driver and Steven got out of the car.
The driver of the car in front of them was grateful for the two of them getting out of the car and offering him help.
After checking it out, Hubert's driver said, "If you're going to get your car fixed, it will take several hours. We're in a hurry, so there's nothing we can do to help you. I'll tell the others to get out of the cars and push your car to the side. Otherwise, your car will block the cars driving behind. After that, you can call someone to tow your car away."
Everyone together moved that car to the side a little.
If that car was moved to the side a little, it would not block the oncoming traffic behind it.
Then the driver said gratefully, "Alright. Thank you. It's just that the lady who owns the car has an emergency and has to go first. I'm wondering if you could give her a ride."
Steven and the driver were not able to make a decision. Then Steven went back to the Rolls Royce and respectfully said to Hubert, "Mr. Donovan, there is a young lady in that car. The driver said she is the owner and is in a hurry to run some errands. Now that her car has to be towed away and to be fixed, he asked if we could give the lady a ride."
Hubert asked coldly, "Which family is she from?"
Steven said, "... I didn't ask."
"Ask him which family she comes from. Then, get someone... You don't have to ask. I know who she is."
Hubert saw the young lady step out of that car. She was none other than Sophie, who pestered him, expressed her feelings for him in public, and pursued him.
Teresa had told him that Sophie had gone on vacation to the beach. How could she be back so soon?
When Hubert saw Sophie approaching his car, his face tensed up. Then, he somehow remembered Teresa telling him that Sophie had asked her for advice on how to chase him.
Damn Teresa! She was so enthusiastic that she almost told Sophie all the ways she could figure it out. It seemed that she was eager to help Sophie pursue Hubert.
He had never seen such a generous wife as Teresa. And he had never expected Teresa to help the other woman to chase him.
At this point, Hubert figured Sophie had deliberately let her car break down.
Normally, Sophie drove by herself if she went out. However, she let the driver drive today. It indicated that she had her car broken down just to block his car.
Steven was also a bit surprised when he saw Sophie. He didn't say anything and stepped aside.
Sophie walked over, bent down slightly, and knocked on Hubert's window. However, Hubert ignored her and didn't even roll down his window.
"Hubert, my car broken down. Can you give me a ride?"
Hubert wouldn't roll down his window, so Sophie had to raise her voice to ask him.
Hubert kept facing the front and didn't even look at Sophie.
"Hubert, I promise that I only want you to give me a ride. And it won't affect you in any way. I'll just take your bodyguard's car."
Steven watched the scene in silence.
He speculated whether Hubert would be soft-hearted and let Sophie get into the car.
Hubert remained silent.
His bodyguards t out and together moved Sophie's car to the side. When they were sure that there would be enough space for a car to drive by, they let go and got back into the car.
When the driver and Steven got into the car, the driver turned his head to peek at Hubert. Then, Steven whispered, "Keep driving."
"What about Miss Lisbon?"
The driver wondered if he was going to take Sophie for a ride.
Steven said, "Do you want to lose your job?"
Then the driver immediately started the engine and got the car moving.
He didn't want to lose his job.
Although Hubert was cold, he offered him a decent income and excellent benefits. He could support his family with the money he made alone, so he didn't want to lose his job.
