Chapter 120 What a Jerk
It was 1 a.m. when Teresa arrived home.
The moment she pushed open the door, she found the room was pitch black. Hubert had either not returned or was in his room.
Teresa silently closed the door and then locked it. Then, she turned on the hall light and remained silent for a minute. Afterward, she walked to Hubert's room. As she raised her hand to knock on the door, she remembered that his grandmother had told her that Hubert would be very angry if he was awakened when he was sleeping. Moreover, it was already late at night.
Then she got rid of the idea of knocking on the door of his room.
So what if he was home?
And they were still giving each other the silent treatment.
Finally, Teresa turned around and went back to her room.
They remained silent all night.
The next morning, because Teresa had slept late last night, she was still asleep. Hubert, who went back to live at Honor Land, woke up at the usual time. He then changed into his workout clothes and got ready to go out for his morning run.
As soon as Hubert came downstairs, Mr. Vega said to him, "Mr. Donovan, the Old Madam is here."
When Hubert heard his words, his face darkened, but he did not stop walking. The moment he walked out of the main house at a steady pace, he saw his grandmother had just stepped out of the car.
Although he didn't like the idea of his grandmother suddenly coming over and interrupting his life, Hubert walked over to her quickly and offered to help her.
His grandmother did not refuse him. Seeing him in his workout clothes, she asked him, "Are you going for a morning run?"
"Yeah."
"I'll run two laps with you."
Hubert frowned and said, "Grandma, you're too old."
"I'm very healthy."
Hubert was rather helpless. Since his grandmother wanted to run with him, he had to listen to her words.
Then, Hubert and his grandmother walked out of the villa together. They ran slowly on the concrete road in the neighborhood. Although his grandmother was very old, she was in good health. Usually, she would sometimes work in the field with the workers at home.
She would never put on the air, so all the workers at Donovan Villa were glad to have a master like her.
"You've been living in Florence Garden. Why did you move back in?"
His grandmother had actually come over because she had heard that something was going on between Hubert and Teresa. However, she didn't know what had gone wrong between them.
Chad only said that Hubert seemed a little distracted lately.
She had heard from Mr. Vega that Hubert had moved back into the villa. And she had been hoping that Hubert and Teresa would have chemistry and become a real couple. Thus, she rushed over to see if she could fix their relationship.
"I'm used to living here."
The villa was bought when Hubert became an adult. And he had been living here until now. Besides the old manor, he saw this place as his second home.
As for the other villas in his name, he only lived there when he had to. Most of the time, he returned to Honor Land to live.
"Did you have a fight with Teresa?"
His grandmother changed from running to walking. She asked her eldest grandson, who was standing beside her.
Hubert said calmly, "I'm a decent man, so I won't argue with her."
He refused to admit that he lost his sanity that night and forced a kiss on Teresa.
He never dreamed that he would put on such bad behavior. When he recalled that scene, he could not help but slap himself in the face. He wondered how he had lost his manners.
How could he have lost his sanity like that?
"And what did Teresa do to keep you from going back to Florence Garden?"
"Nothing."
"Hubert, you grew up around me. The one who knows you best in this family is me. You would not have come back to live here if there had not been a falling out between you and Teresa. What exactly did Teresa do? It's okay if you don't talk about it. Later, I'll ask her at her store, and I'll know."
Hubert stopped in his tracks. When he looked at his grandmother, he got a little angry and said, "Grandma, I told you not to interfere with anything that happens between Teresa and me after we got married."
"I don't meddle. I'm just concerned about you guys. And I want to know what's going on between you two. You're arrogant and have your own pride. And you pretended to be poor and married Teresa secretly, so Teresa didn't even know who you really were. Even if you did something wrong, you won't apologize to her. You need me to give you a hand and ease your relationship at this time."
His grandmother had promised Hubert that she would not interfere in their married life after he and Teresa received their marriage license.
However, her grandmother kept an eye on Hubert's and Teresa's every move.
She knew that Hubert and Teresa had gone from forgetting about each other to getting along well. And Hubert began to care about Teresa. Moreover, she even gloated that she had sharp eyes. And the relationship between Hubert and Teresa did develop as she had hoped.
However, Hubert and Teresa were separated before she could get her hopes up.
Therefore, his grandmother was anxious.
She was still waiting for Hubert and Teresa to have a baby.
"There was a little misunderstanding between us. No big deal. Grandma, you don't have to worry. I'll be back to Florence Garden in a few days."
Hubert was still reluctant to tell the whole story.
After being criticized by Morgan, Hubert felt like he was getting jealous.
Morgan said that Hubert was now starting to care about Teresa.
However, Hubert would not admit it and intended to keep up appearances. He felt that Teresa may have cheated on him and cuckolded him while having dinner with Ezra. He was humiliated by this.
In fact, Hubert and Teresa were secretly married in private, so only a few people knew they were married.
Even if Teresa had nothing to do with Ezra and she did something wrong to Hubert, the public would not know about Hubert and Teresa's relationship. Therefore, Hubert would not be shamed.
He would be mad at Teresa and question her. And he would only believe what he saw with his eyes. He became very possessive with Teresa.
As a dominant man, once he cared about a woman, he didn't want to see her having dinner with another man, even if her best friend was present.
Hubert hoped that Teresa would only be thoughtful to him and that she would only smile at him. However, Teresa didn't even realize his feelings for her. Moreover, he was stubborn and never admitted his mistakes. As a result, the relationship between the couple eventually ended up like this.
Not only did they defriend each other on WhatsApp and blacklist each other's numbers, but they also lived apart and no longer spoke to each other.
"Are you sure there's nothing wrong between you two?"
"Of course."
His grandmother laughed and said, "Okay. I believe you. If you say nothing is going on between you two, then you're fine with each other. Even if I go to Teresa, I won't ask her about it. I won't humiliate you in front of her."
Hubert looked a little embarrassed, but he was stubborn and said in a deep voice, "Grandma, why would you do that?"
His grandmother smiled, patted her grandson on the shoulder, and said, "Hubert, as a strong man, you're supposed to be big-hearted. Besides, you and Teresa are a couple. And you're going to spend the rest of your lives together. How can you not be able to fix the problems between the two of you?"
After a moment of silence, Hubert said, "Teresa and I have signed a six-month agreement. If we don't fall in love with each other within six months, we'll get a divorce. Grandma, you don't have to feel bad for her about this. I haven't touched her so far. She's still intact."
He only kissed her twice when he couldn't stand her flirting with him. He kissed her forcibly once when they had a falling out that night.
He just kissed her. It wouldn't have had much effect on her remarrying someone else in the future.
"We got married secretly. Only a few people knew about it. In that case, it would minimize the damage to her after the divorce. Also, I promised to give her the suite at Florence Garden and the Chevrolet. And I would not kick her out of the house without giving her a penny."
His grandmother thought, '... What a jerk!'
