Chapter 117 Let's Just Live Like This
"It's not like that. Mr. Donovan, even if you saw Teresa eating with another man and serving him food, you would have to find out the relationship between him and her. What if he is her relative?"
Hubert's face darkened. "He's Ezra."
Morgan asked, "Who's Ezra? Well, I get it. He's the son of the CEO of the Porter Group. Currently, Ezra works for the Porter Group. He... Let me analyze it first. The last name of Ezra's mother is Gaston. And the last name of Mrs. Donovan's best friend is also Gaston."
Hubert said bluntly, "Ezra is Gwendolyn's cousin."
"That's right. They're cousins. And Mrs. Donovan is good friends with Miss Gaston, so she must have known Ezra for a long time. And she's a few years older than Ezra. Maybe she only sees Ezra as her younger brother."
"They're not even related, so he won't ever be her brother!"
Morgan choked.
Even though Teresa claimed that she saw Ezra as her younger brother, they were not related by blood. In any case, he couldn't be her brother.
After a moment of silence, Hubert added, "Ezra has a crush on Teresa."
Morgan said, "How do you know that?"
"I'm a man. It's my gut that tells me. And Ezra has had a crush on Teresa for more than just a day or two."
Morgan trusted Hubert's instincts. He asked, "Does she know?"
At this point, Hubert choked on his words.
Teresa didn't know Ezra had a crush on her. And she was only being nice to Ezra because the two of them had known each other for a long time. In her words, she had watched Ezra grow up. Besides, Ezra was Gwendolyn's cousin.
In that case, Teresa had no feelings for Ezra. She only saw Ezra as a younger brother.
"When you saw her and Ezra having lunch on Saturday, it was just the two of them?"
Hubert's face tensed up as he said, "And Gwendolyn."
"That's it. It wasn't just the two of them. It was the three of them eating together. As for her serving Ezra's food, it was probably because that dish was a little far away from Ezra. That was why she picked up the food for him."
Hubert's face tensed up, and he remained silent.
However, Morgan chuckled.
"Hubert, are you jealous right now? Did you begin to care about your fiancée?"
Morgan didn't realize it had only taken Hubert a month to start caring about Teresa.
It seemed that Teresa was quite something.
Morgan gave Teresa a thumbs up in his heart.
Teresa was awesome!
She won Hubert's heart so easily and made him have feelings for a woman for the first time.
Hubert's face darkened. Then he grabbed his phone, got up, and was about to leave.
When he reached the door of the conference room, he stopped, turned his head, and said coldly, "I never get jealous. That's too sour!"
Morgan laughed. He wouldn't believe what Hubert said!
Hubert was obviously getting jealous. Anyone could tell by the look on his face.
However, he wouldn't admit it anyway.
Morgan also understood Hubert's reluctance to admit that he was getting jealous.
After all, Hubert and Teresa had married in a flash. And he had only married her to express gratitude on behalf of his grandmother.
Hubert was arrogant. He was not the kind of person who easily had feelings for others.
It was too hard for Hubert to admit that he started to care about Teresa in just one month. And Hubert couldn't put away his pride, which made him reluctant to admit it.
Hubert didn't leave the office immediately after leaving the conference room. Instead, he went back to his office.
After talking with Morgan, Hubert began to feel better. And he knew in his heart that it was unreasonable for him to assume that Teresa was cheating on him just because he saw Teresa and Ezra eating together and picking up food for Ezra once.
He somehow was mad at her.
Was he really getting jealous as Morgan said?
How could that be?
As he sat in his black swivel chair, Hubert pulled out his phone. After thinking about it for quite a while, he decided to put away his pride and reply to Teresa's message. When he clicked on WhatsApp, he remembered that he had already unfriended Teresa.
Luckily, he remembered Teresa's mobile number.
After a moment of hesitation, Hubert mustered the courage to make a phone call to Teresa.
"Hello, the number you have called is switched off."
Hubert felt speechless.
Had Teresa turned off her phone?
Or had she blacklisted his number?
After Hubert immediately called Teresa on the landline, he was able to get through. Before Teresa could answer, he hung up because he confirmed that Teresa had blacklisted his number.
He initially wanted to put away his pride and ease his relationship with Teresa. However, when he found out that Teresa had blacklisted his number, they were back at square one.
He unfriended her first. Next, she unfriended him. At this point, they were even.
He thought they were just going to live like this.
Hubert made no further attempts to contact Teresa. Instead, he got up and left the office. He left the office surrounded by bodyguards and headed to the Watenll City Hotel for lunch.
Teresa spent tens of thousands of dollars at the gold store and then cooled down.
When Teresa returned to the store, Leila had already returned from her job search. And Teresa knew from the look on Leila's face that Leila still hadn't found a job today.
And Teresa didn't dare to take the things she had spent tens of thousands of dollars on off the car. Otherwise, if Leila saw those things, she would criticize Teresa.
Gwendolyn did not have a big mouth. Without Teresa's permission, she would not tell Leila about Teresa and his husband not speaking to each other because of a misunderstanding.
"I thought you were going to pick up Hubert and come over for lunch with him."
Leila blurted out when she saw Teresa getting out of the car with only her son in her arms and did not see Hubert.
"I did go to his office, but he wasn't available for lunch. He had to have lunch with his clients."
Teresa lied to Leila.
Leila didn't even suspect Teresa's words.
After lunch, Leila took a short break in the store. Then she went back to her job search in the afternoon.
By now, Teresa, who had spent tens of thousands of dollars of Hubert's money, had calmed down.
She remembered that when she decided to marry Hubert, she was looking for someone to live with her. Since they didn't love each other, she didn't have to care what he thought of her.
As long as he didn't file for divorce, they could just live their lives without interfering with each other.
With that in mind, Teresa was in the mood to knit her crafts.
In the evening, Leila and her son had dinner at the store and refused Teresa to drive them back home. Then, they took a taxi.
Teresa had to look after the store because Gwendolyn was going out in the evening. Therefore, Leila insisted that she would not let her see them off. Teresa then called a taxi for her sister. As she watched Leila and her son get into the car, she went back to watch the store.
She stayed until 11 p.m. before closing the store and going home as usual.
When she just drove out of the gate of Watenll City School and drove into the main road outside, she almost hit a Land Rover. It scared her so much that she braked urgently to avoid hitting the car.
Teresa started driving after the Land Rover drove past her.
Hubert, who was slowly coming up behind her, saw the scene. At this point, Hubert was sitting in his car, which was the one that Teresa found familiar. And Teresa thought it was a Rolls Royce owned by a resident who lived in the same neighborhood as her.
Hubert bought the car Teresa was driving. And he had a very good memory, so he recognized it was Teresa's car.
However, he remained silent. He just said to the driver, "Slow down. Don't pass the car in the front."
Although the driver didn't know the reason, Steven figured out Hubert's intentions. Then he explained to the driver in a soft voice, "The one driving in the front is Mrs. Donovan."
