Chapter 133 Patching Up
Morgan was not surprised that Patrick was cheating.
He said, "Your sister-in-law has changed a lot after marriage. Patrick has been promoted and the women around him are all better than your sister-in-law. After some time, it's reasonable that he gets tired of her."
With a cold look in his eyes, Hubert said in a cold voice, "Why has she changed so much? Because she loves him, and she had children for him, not worrying about her body figure. She takes care of their child and family on her own so that he can focus on work. She has sacrificed her youth and her beauty."
He agreed that his sister-in-law had changed a lot after marriage. He thought she should at least lose weight.
But this was not an excuse for Patrick to cheat. Ruthlessness and injustice had long been lurking in Patrick. It was just not revealed previously. Now that he was successful in his career and proud of himself, he looked down on his wife and got tired of her.
Patrick could remind Leila to lose weight if he thought Leila looked ugly now.
Leila still had feelings for him. She would probably work hard to lose weight if he reminded her to lose weight. However, Patrick suppressed Leila in their married life and accused her of various shortcomings. He even suggested for them to pay for their own part of expenses in the family.
Didn't Patrick know that Leila was jobless with no income?
"This is true. A loving and righteous man will not change his mind even if his wife weighs two hundred pounds."
A devoted man would not cheat just because his wife became ugly or fat.
After all, Patrick was tired of Leila.
Maybe he made Leila get fat on purpose so that he had an excuse to cheat.
"Don't put Patrick on guard."
Morgan said assuringly, "Don't worry. He won't know even if I've found out everything about him, unless I want him to know."
"Hubert, your idea is not bad. Your wife will be grateful to you when you give her the evidence of Patrick cheating, and the two of you will patch up like before."
Hubert's mouth twitched, and he said, "Patch up like before? When we first met, I couldn't even remember her name."
Morgan was speechless.
He had used the wrong phrasal verb.
After telling Morgan to get someone to investigate Patrick, Hubert handed the signed documents to Sunan and said lightly, "It's time to get off work."
"I also want to get off work, but I have to socialize at night."
Hubert said nothing.
Yes, he had to socialize as well.
Hubert talked about business with others either in the company or in the Watenll City Hotel, where he lives in the presidential suite.
He did not have to go purposely to the hotel to drink tonight, he could drink enough when socializing. ...
Haitong distributed some of the seafood sent by Sophie to her sister to take home to eat, and some to Gwendolyn. Gwendolyn's family was rich, and she ate seafood every day, but she accepted it gladly since it was given by a friend.
When Chad came to pick up the old lady, Teresa took out the biggest bag of seafood.
When Chad saw her sister-in-law struggling with a big bag, he got out of the car in a hurry, took a few steps forward, reached out to get the bag and said, "Just ask us to help you carry such a heavy thing in the future."
He did not want to tire his sister-in-law.
The old lady also said, "That's right, I told you not to carry it. Let Chad do it. He's a man and strong."
But she thought that Chad was considerate while Hubert was not.
This was really worrying.
The old lady admitted that she was worried, but there was no worried look on her old face. Her eldest grandson had provided her with a wonderful show. She watched the show with relish. She was not actually worried.
That was not true.
"Teresa, what are these?"
Chad had actually got a whiff of the fishy smell of seafood.
"Seafood. A friend of mine brought it back from a vacation at the seaside. She gave me a lot of it, all fresh. Your brother and I can't eat that much. I'll give you some to take back to eat."
Chad glanced at his Grandma. Seeing that she didn't refuse, he said, "There are so many."
The most abundant thing at their home was seafood.
However, he would still take it home if it was from his sister-in-law.
"Grandma, give some to everyone so they can taste it."
Teresa had carefully prepared a portion for each family, and they were all packed in net bags. The old lady only had to give them to each family after she went home. The amount for each family was the same.
"Okay, I will give it to them."
The old lady waited for Chad to put the seafood in the car before getting into the car. She didn't forget to say to Teresa, "Teresa, I just sent a message to Hubert and asked him to come and have dinner with you before going back to the office for overtime.
"He should be on his way here. You see, Chad and he work in the same company and Chad is already here. You should go back and cook. You don't have to see me off."
Teresa said, "Grandma, why don't you tell me sooner? I was going to warm up the food that I hadn't finished at noon and eat it. It's just enough for me alone."
The old lady said, "It's not too late for you to cook now. Hurry up and cook. Hubert always works overtime late. Cook more dishes for him to keep him full."
Teresa could not refuse in front of the old lady.
After the old lady was gone, there was only Teresa in the bookstore.
She quickly picked up her phone and wanted to send Hubert a WhatsApp message, asking him not to come over as she was too lazy to cook for him. After opening WhatsApp, she remembered that she had deleted him. No, he deleted her first.
After thinking for a moment, Teresa opened the blocked contacts list and unblocked Hubert's mobile number.
Then, she called Hubert.
The ringtone rang.
It rang outside the door of her bookstore.
Hubert still picked her call up. From her call, he knew that he had been unblocked by her."
"Teresa."
Hubert's voice was always low and attractive.
Teresa thought that if she was someone who would fall for people by their voice, she would love him so much when she heard Hubert's voice.
Fortunately, she was not, but she still liked listening to him.
"What's the matter?"
"I want to tell you not to come here. I'm too lazy to cook again. But since you're already here, I'll go buy some rice for you now, and reheat the lunch dishes. Just make do with it."
Teresa came out of her shop and hung up the phone after she saw Hubert. "Do you want to have other dishes? What do you want? I'll buy it for you."
Hubert took the phone away from his ear, then put it in his pocket. Trying to keep his face as mild as possible and his voice a little less cold, he said, "Just buy some rice and no other dishes."
"Alright, are you in a hurry to go to work? If you are not in a hurry, look after the store for me. I will go to the nearby fast-food restaurant to buy food. You can warm up the food."
Hubert replied in a low voice after a moment of silence, "Okay."
In order to patch up his relationship with his wife, the eldest young master of the dignified Donovan family had to eat the leftovers that were not finished at noon.
