Chapter 19 An Acciden

Chapter 19 An Accident
She enjoyed the courting and pampering from her boss. She accepted his flowers and gifts but only made out with him rather than let him get on third base.
It was not that she was chaste. She was just leading Patrick by the nose.
Being a lover was indecent and not something desirable. She wanted to be his wife.
Unfortunately, Patrick and his wife had been in love for many years. They were classmates back in college. That woman named Leila used to be the financial director of this company. When she joined the company, Leila had already quit and turned into a housewife.
Isabelle hadn't met Leila before. From those veterans in the office, she learned that Leila had given birth to her son, Andy, one year after they got married. Since then, she had taken care of the boy at home. Isabelle also heard that Leila had been out of shape and gained a lot of weight after having the baby.
She had heard Patrick complaining about his fat wife more than once.
Isabelle sneered in her heart. Leila was really a stupid woman. Even after getting married, she should have kept fit. No man liked an overweight lady.
She was excusable for hooking up with Patrick. Leila didn't know the importance of keeping fit, and Patrick was fed up with her. What was worse, she spent money like water.
If Leila spent less, more of Patrick's money would be spent on her.
Speaking of Leila, Patrick immediately snorted, "She is a swine who makes me sick. If it were not for the sake of giving my son a complete home, I would have divorced her long ago."
In contrast, his sister-in-law had maintained her figure. She was younger and prettier than Leila. Although they were both from the countryside, Teresa's temperament was more refined.
Leila had been elegant too. Obesity ruined everything.
The poor woman didn't know that her husband had hooked up with his secretary. Leila knew that he had a secretary and had heard her sweet voice over the phone. Instead of thinking much about it, she put her son back in the stroller and pushed him away.
She took no notice of the road ahead and bumped into a Maybach parked there.
The stroller crashed into it and scratched the body of the limousine. When she saw the logo of the car, she freaked out.
Coincidentally, the owner of the car came back, saw everything, and strode over.
"Sir, I'm so sorry."
Leila apologized repeatedly.
The owner of the car was a man around 35 years old. In black clothes, he had fine features, but there was a scar on the right side of his face. It made him look a bit scary. As soon as Andy saw him, he turned around in fear, reached out his hands, and asked for a hug from his mother.
The scar-faced man checked his car and saw Leila carrying a child. His face was sullen, but he didn't shout abuse. Instead, he said in a deep voice, "Give me your phone number. After my car is refinished, I'll send you the bills."
"Sir, I'm sorry."
After a moment of silence, the scar-faced man said, "What's done is done. Apologies won't change anything. Be more careful when you walk on the road. My car is scratched, and you will pay. If your baby is injured, you'll be sorry."
"You're right. It was my fault. I'll be more careful."

Leila took out her phone and said, "Sir, tell me your number. I'll call you, and you can save my number. The bills for repairing the car will be covered by me."
The scar-faced man then told her his number.
Leila called and hung up when his phone rang.
"What's your name?"
"Leila Heller."
The scar-faced man saved her number and waved his hand. "Okay, you're free to go."
Leila apologized again and hurriedly left the scene with her son.
She was afraid her husband would bitterly scold her at home.
Just then, a bunch of luxury cars slowly came over. One of them was a Rolls Royce. It was Hubert's ride. The car pulled off the road, and the window came down. Hubert saw the scar-faced man and called out, "Dean, what are you doing here?"
"I went to buy something, but someone scratched my car."
"You didn't catch that person?"
Hubert blurted out, "Need my help find out who it was?"
"It's alright. I've got her phone number and will send her the bills. In Watenll City, she can't hide from me."
Dean went back to his car, quickly started the engine, and said, "Let's go."
Hubert made no further comments but rolled the window up. The luxury cars then sped away.
One day passed by quickly.
Soon, it was evening.
After the students were dismissed from the evening class, Teresa planned to go to the kitchen and prepare dinner for Gwendolyn and herself when her sister called.
"Tess, something is troubling me all day. I can't figure out a way and have to turn to you."
"Sis, what's wrong?"
"I went shopping in the morning and accidentally scratched a Maybach when I was pushing Andy in a stroller. It will be costly to repair that kind of luxury car, and I'm afraid my savings are not enough. I told my husband about it, but he scolded me for the blunder and refused to help."
Teresa's heart tightened, and she said in a hurry, "Sis, don't worry about it. How much does it cost?"
"I don't know yet. The owner of the car had my number and said that he would send me the bills."
"Sis, it's not a big issue as long as Andy and you are fine. We will pay the bills no matter how much it is. I'll lend money to you. Don't worry about it."
Leila sobbed, "Tess, I'm so stupid to make such a mistake."
"Sis, you didn't mean to. Don't take it too hard. Compared with your safety, money is nothing."
Teresa comforted her sister and then said to her friend. "Gwen, I have to go home."
"Okay."
Gwendolyn learned about the accident and urged her friend to go.
Teresa rushed to her sister's house and comforted the latter till midnight.
When she reached home, she was met with Hubert's emotionless question. "Why are you back so late?"
While closing the door, Teresa replied, "Something happened to my sister."
Hubert's face softened a little, and he asked blandly, "What happened?"
"When she was going shopping with Andy in the morning, she accidentally pushed the stroller into a luxury car parked by the road. The body of the car was scratched, and the repair may cost a lot of money. My sister has no income since she hasn't worked for years. She's afraid she can't afford it."
Hubert's dark eyes flickered. Was it his sister-in-law who crashed into Dean's car?
"What kind of car was it? Will the repair cost a lot of money?"
Hubert asked calmly.
"According to my sister, it was Maybach. Presumably, it will be costly."
She couldn't tell exactly how much it would cost to fix the scratch of a Maybach.
