Chapter 18 Wife and the Lover
"It doesn't cost me much to buy some breakfast. Leila, I know what to do."
Teresa had a decent salary, so she would help her sister a little. However, she wouldn't use all her income to help her sister because she still wanted to buy a house.
"Has Andy eaten breakfast yet?"
Teresa asked as she touched Andy's forehead and found his body temperature was normal.
"He's had his formula. I'm cooking pork porridge. When it's done, I'll feed him some. I won't let him starve."
Leila was very attentive to the care of her son.
"Leila, Hubert will be back in a couple of days. His parents will come to our place on Saturday. We'd like to invite you and your husband to go to the Florence Garden and meet his family on that day. Please tell Patrick."
Upon hearing her words, Leila said joyfully, "Has Hubert come back from his business trip?"
"He said he'll be home on Friday night."
"Okay. I'll tell Patrick."
Teresa was suddenly married. And Leila knew in her heart what was going on. Even though Teresa had lied to her, she didn't point it out. And Leila was worried about Teresa marrying the wrong man.
Moreover, Leila had never even seen what Teresa's husband looked like.
Moreover, she was very concerned about Teresa meeting her husband's family.
After staying at Leila's house for a while, Teresa went to work.
Leila fed her son porridge after Teresa left. Then, she took her son out for a walk and went shopping, because she wanted to buy two new outfits. Leila would like to wear her new clothes on the day she met Hubert's family.
Usually, when Leila was at home taking care of her son, she wore casual clothes, which were cheap clothes she bought from the market.
Leila thought back to when she was still married, she was very decent in every way. Although she didn't wear brand clothes, those clothes looked much more upscale than cheap ones. Currently, she was married and had a baby. And she was out of work and had lost her source of income. Moreover, she spent her previous savings on house renovation.
She spent her money in a calculated way every time. Basically, she spent her money on her family and rarely on herself.
To impress Teresa's in-laws, Leila bought two decent outfits and also bought a new suit and tie for her husband.
The moment Leila had just walked out of the clothing store, she received a phone call from her husband.
"Hello, honey."
Leila was carrying her son in a stroller. She answered the phone as she walked.
"What did you buy again? You spent over 200 dollars at once. You spent most of the month's living expenses. I told you we go dutch on living expenses. You spent over 200 dollars today, so that's on you. If you don't have enough money to spend later, go figure it out."
Leila's husband, Patrick, also opened a bank card for her, just like Hubert did. And he would transfer a certain sum of money into it every month as living expenses. And the card was associated with his cell phone number. So every time Leila spent the money, he would receive a message.
The family's food expenses were limited to 20 dollars per day. And Patrick transferred 600 dollars to the bank card every month. If Leila saved money, there would be a few dozen dollars left as her pocket money. If Andy got sick and had to go to the doctor, 600 dollars would not be enough for her to spend until the end of the month.
When she went out, she forgot to bring her personal bank card, so she swiped the one Patrick had given her. Then, she didn't expect Patrick to call her and confront her the moment she had just left the clothing store.
"I saw you were shopping at the clothing store. Did you buy clothes? Why did you buy such expensive clothes? You spent over 200 dollars in one go. Can't you save any money? Do you think it's easy for me to make money?"
"I have a mortgage and a car loan to pay. And I have to pay for my parents' living expenses. And Andy has to eat formula, needs diapers, and so on. These are all things to buy. And you don't even make money. You only rely on me to make money, so why don't you save a little? Why can't you be considerate of me?"
Leila paused for a while. When his husband stopped accusing her, she explained, "Tess said her husband would be back on Friday. They are planning to have the elders of their two families get together and have dinner on Saturday. I'm Tess' family, so I like to make a good impression on her in-laws. And none of my old clothes fit anymore, so I had to buy two new outfits."
"And I bought you a new suit and tie too. Patrick, let's not go back to your mom's place this weekend, okay?"
Patrick listened to her explanation and muttered in a low voice, but Leila didn't hear his words and asked, "Patrick, what did you say?"
"Nothing. Although you want to dress decently to meet Tess's in-laws, you don't have to buy two sets. You can only buy one. Also, you need to lose weight and get your weight down. That way, you can wear the clothes you bought before. And the quality of your old clothes is so good. It's too bad if you can't wear them."
"Look at you, you just eat and drink and spend a lot of money all day long. You're too fat! You're so damn cheap and useless!"
Patrick felt disgusted once he thought about Leila's bloated figure.
When they slept on weekdays, he didn't want to touch his wife unless he could not suppress his sexual desire any longer.
He realized that the smart, slim, and beautiful Leila he used to know was gone!
He didn't expect that just three years of marriage would turn Leila into a fat woman! His mother and sister were right about Leila that Leila became like this because she ate too much. And not only did Leila not know how to make money, but all she did was spend it.
"Mr. Cerone."
Patrick's secretary pushed the door. Patrick quickly said to his wife on the other side of the phone. "Leila, I'm busy now. Go home and make dinner. Don't let me find out that I have nothing to eat when I get home from work. I wonder what you're doing at home all the time."
After complaining about his wife, Patrick hung up before Leila could reply.
"Mr. Cerone, please take a look at this document. Please sign it if there is nothing wrong with the document."
Then the young secretary handed a document to Patrick.
Patrick muttered a reply to her. Then, after taking the document and reading it, he made sure it was all right and signed it. When he handed the document back to the secretary, he took out a velvet box from the drawer. Then, he handed the box to the secretary. He looked at the secretary with affectionate eyes and said, "Bella, I passed by Tiffiny on my way home after my business talk last night. I went in and picked out a gold necklace for you. See if you like it."
Isabelle took the box and opened it. When she saw that there was indeed a gold necklace inside, she had a smile on her face. Then she took the gold necklace out of the box.
Patrick got up, walked around the desk, and then came behind her. He took the gold necklace from her hand and said thoughtfully, "Let me help you put it on."
"Okay."
Patrick helped her put on the gold necklace and kissed her on the cheek. He complimented, "It's beautiful. It suits you."
Isabelle stood up, turned, threw her arms around his neck, and kissed him on the cheek. Then, in a delicate voice, she thanked him. "Mr. Cerone, thank you. I really like this necklace."
"When no one else is here, you can call me Patrick."
Patrick held her tightly. There was a look of desire on his handsome face. Then, he whispered those words in Isabelle's ear.
Isabelle immediately pushed him away. Then, she grumbled in a flirty manner. "You have a wife and son at home. We agreed that we would only have a spiritual relationship. We aren't going to do anything physically."
