Chapter 145 The Proud Young Master Donovan Came Home
Leila looked at him.
Dean could tell that she misunderstood again. This woman was really vigilant.
He explained, "I mean, you'd better not leave your son alone in your house. It's not safe."
Her son was probably two or three years old. Children at this age were naughty, active, and curious about everything. They tended to touch everything in sight. It was fun for them.
She would have herself to blame if something happened to her son.
"Thank you for the advice, Mr. LaRoche. I'm gonna go upstairs."
Leila lifted the diapers, thanked Dean, and hurried away.
Although Dean was tall and strong, not looking like a nice person with a horrible scar on his face, he was actually very considerate.
A book shouldn't be judged by its cover.
After Leila was gone, Dean went back to his car and drove away.
On the way, he called Hubert and said when the line got through, "Man, I think your sister-in-law hates my cars. Guess what? The windshield of my Porsche is broken because of her."
"What happened? Did you run her over? Or she bumped into you again?"
Hubert was concerned.
His sister-in-law was nice to him.
"Not really."
Dean unfolded the whole story.
In the end, he said, "What do you say? Your sister-in-law hates my cars or what? I'll go to buy a $15,000-worth car tomorrow. It will be my ride, and she will not have another chance to ruin my supercars. It really broke my heart."
She had done it twice.
It was fine the first time. His car was just slightly scraped, and the repair didn't cost much.
It was serious this time.
He couldn't imagine what would happen next time.
Hubert didn't know how to respond.
He was lost for words.
It was just too coincidental.
If Leila were not a wife and a mother, Hubert would have teased Dean and said it was destiny.
"For your sake, I didn't ask her for compensation."
"How much is the repair fee? I'll pay the bills for her."
Hubert said generously.
"It's alright. I'm not short of money and just pour out my grievances. By the way, is your sister-in-law on bad terms with her husband? She bought a lot of things and called her husband to pick her up, but that man refused."
A normal guy would have asked his wife to go home in a taxi if he really couldn't go over.
Dean thought of Leila's financial situation. She probably would not hail a taxi even if her husband told her so.
He felt that he thought too much about the matter.
Hubert's voice turned cold. "If I'm not wrong, her husband is attending a party at Watenll Hotel, and there should be a sexy lady with him."
Dean was surprised. "No wonder. Turns out her husband is cheating on her."
"It's not confirmed yet. I've had Morgan look into it and gather the necessary evidence. He hasn't told me the results yet."
Leila was the person Teresa cared about the most.
Since he was Teresa's husband, he decided to help Leila after learning about Patrick's betrayal.
He didn't like that man after the beginning.
"You care about your wife's family so much. Why don't you take her out to meet us?" Dean was eager to know how brilliant Teresa was. Vivian was so fond of her that she nagged Hubert for three months until he agreed to marry Teresa and repay Teresa's kindness to her.
Vivian might act like a willful child, but in fact, she was clear about everything and a good judge of character.
There should be something about Teresa that she appreciated.
After a moment of silence, Hubert said, "That's unnecessary. Like everyone else, she has two eyes, a nose, and a mouth."
"Ha-ha."
Dean laughed out loud.
He knew his friend's implication. Hubert didn't plan to let them meet Teresa.
Morgan might have seen her and even knew much about her. That man was a gossip and had an information network after all. If he wanted, he could even trace her origins.
Aware of how busy his friend was, Dean soon hung up the phone instead of going on with the topic.
Time passed quickly.
It was late at night again.
In his Rolls Royce, Hubert tiredly rubbed his brows.
His workload had doubled or even tripled in the past few days, and he had been working crazily, so he was stressed out.
"Sir, are we going back to Honor Land?"
The driver asked.
Instead of giving an immediate reply, Hubert leaned against the seat and closed his eyes.
Two minutes later, he croaked, "Take me to Florence Garden."
"Got it."
Steven was relieved to hear that.
Mr. Donovan finally went back to his wife, and they could expect easier lives.
Although Mr. Donovan would not vent his spleen on the bodyguards, he obviously had been in a bad mood, and the bodyguards had never been so nervous. They were afraid of making mistakes and getting fired.
Hubert wasn't coming home from the office. He had been at a party, and the trip back was a bit long.
It took them 20 minutes to arrive at Florence Garden.
Hubert opened the door and entered the house. It was pitch-dark.
Teresa still hadn't come back?
He turned on the lights and checked the time. It was 11 pm, and Teresa would soon come home. Fortunately, he had come upstairs quickly enough. Otherwise, if she saw him getting out of a Rolls-Royce, his identity would have been exposed.
He hadn't been back for just two or three nights.
But he somehow felt so long.
The cold war, separation, and mutual deletion also felt so distant.
In fact, it happened just two or three days ago.
If his grandma hadn't created an opportunity for him, their cold war would have continued.
A fortune cat and a dragon were lying on the coffee table.
They were the handiwork Teresa had promised to give him.
Hubert walked over and picked up the fortunate cat. She had a pair of dexterous hands. The objects she weaved were all lifelike.
He heard the door opening.
In reflex, he quickly put the fortune cat back on the coffee table and acted as if he had just come out of his room. However, he was still in a suit, and Teresa had come in, so he gave up pretending.
The couple looked at each other.
Teresa started, "Mr. Donovan, did you just come back too?"
"Yeah, I just arrived home."
Hubert calmly picked up the dragon and asked, "When did you finish it?"
"I brought it back the night you didn't come home."
While replying, she came to his side. "I didn't take it to your room since it's the forbidden zone, so I put it there, believing that you'll see and take it when you come back."
