Chapter 137 My Timid Wife

Chapter 137 My Timid Wife
Hubert's expression suddenly turned cold. And then, he walked out of the cashier's desk with a calm expression.
Teresa stood up straight and fixed her messy hair. Seeing him acting as of nothing had happened, she scolded him harshly in her heart. Then, she sat down, waiting for those shameless people to come in. Those who called her that way must be her shameless relatives.
Less than a minute later, Bobby and Jenny came in aggressively, followed by Teresa's two uncles and two aunts. Teresa smiled, thinking almost all of them had come.
When Bobby and Jenny saw her sitting at the cashier's desk, they intended to rush over to her, but Hubert blocked their way. Hubert was tall and handsome but looked unusually indifferent. When he stood there, he was exuding cold but noble vibes, which made people unconsciously flinch in fright.
Bobby and Jenny were taken aback by Hubert who was extremely cold. Instinctively, they took two steps back, and then Bobby asked, "Who are you? Why are you standing in our way? Are you trying to scare us?"
Hubert glanced at him and pursed his lips tightly in silence, not wanting to talk to such a shameless man.
"Honey, is he that wicked girl's husband whose surname is Donovan?" Jenny whispered to her husband.
They had known from the villagers that Teresa was married, but they had never seen her husband. The villagers had said he was extremely good-looking but didn't look good-tempered. They had said that the look in his eyes was very ruthless, so they did not think he was a good person.
Was he a gangster? Thinking of this, Jenny quickly grabbed her husband's arm and hid behind him.
Tom was the head of the Heller family. At such a time, he came forward, looked Hubert up and down, forced a smile, and asked politely, "Are you Teresa's husband? I'm her Uncle Tom. Nice to meet you."
Hubert glanced at the Heller family and said coldly, "What did you guys come here at night? Do you want to scare my wife? I warn you she is timid and can't be frightened."
The Heller family was speechless. Teresa was timid? If she were timid, there would not be bold people in this world.
When Teresa heard him say she was his wife all the time, she felt weird even though she knew he was just trying to protect her in front of outsiders.
Well, maybe because they were just living together but did not want to have feelings for each other, they could not be as intimate as ordinary couples.
"We came here to see Teresa. Since her parents passed away, she and her sister have estranged us. We haven't seen each other for a long time. Now, we've moved to the city and know that she is here, so we came to see if she's doing well."
Tom was lying shamelessly. He was so thick-skinned that Hubert thought Sophie was no match for him.
If Sophie knew his thoughts, she would say, "...Young Master Donovan, it doesn't matter if you don't love me, but please don't bring me down. How can you compare me with such a shameless man?"
"I heard someone yelling, "Teresa, you wicked girl! Get out!" The volume was high, and the tone sounded as if he were going to make trouble for my wife."
When Hubert was seriously arguing, average people were no match for him.
Tom smirked, "I heard your surname is Donovan. Mr. Donovan, you may have heard it wrong."
The rest of the Heller family kept silent.

"No, I heard it clearly. There are surveillance cameras in the store. Would you like to watch the surveillance video?"
Tom was speechless. He knew Teresa was difficult to deal with. But he had not expected her husband to be a hard nut to crack too.
When Hubert leaned against the cashier's desk with his hands in his trouser pockets, Teresa thought his action was so charming that her eyes were twinkling. But it was not time to appreciate this handsome guy now. So, she quickly looked at her uncles and aunts seriously.
Hubert said, "Tell me why you asked Teresa to get out. So many of you came together. Why? Do you want to beat her up? Or do you want to coerce her to give you a lot of money to pay your mother's medical bills? Do you want her to pay for your house rent, gas, and bridge tolls?"
"Do you think we can beat that brutal girl?" Jenny said angrily. She was here to settle accounts with Teresa.
After knowing that her son Troy was detained, everyone said that they should bail him out before settling accounts with Teresa. But when they had gone to the police station, they had been told that he couldn't be released on bail. Jenny was anxious, angry, and distressed because she could not even see her son. She suspected Teresa's backer was making things difficult for them again because the other punks could be bailed.
The Heller family had long been in conflict with Teresa, and Troy's detention had escalated the conflict. So, the elders had come to meet her together. In the past, it was always the younger generation that had come here, and the elders had at most called her.
"Teresa, is it you that sent Troy to prison? How can you be so vicious? He is so young! He is a child! You are ruining his life! If he has a criminal record, his future will be ruined! You are cousins. You're older than him! Why can't you just let him go? How could you call the police? You are too ruthless. If you have any grudges, you should have retaliated against me!"
After flowing into a rage, Jenny wasn't afraid of Hubert anymore. Hubert did not look like a good guy, but so many of them had come here tonight! She did not believe he dared to beat them. Teresa had called the police, so they could do the same thing. They were all middle-aged people. If they lay on the ground and said Teresa and her husband had beaten them, the latter would have to give them a lot of money as compensation.
Before Teresa could do anything, Hubert moved first. He took a few steps forward, grabbed Jenny by the back collar under the watchful eyes of everyone, dragged her out of the door of the bookstore, and pushed her hard.
Then, Jenny lost her balance and fell to the ground.
"Get out! You're too noisy!" Hubert snapped coldly.
Turning around, he went back into the store.
The Heller family was dumbfounded. He had moved too fast, so before they could react, Jenny had been pushed out of the bookstore.
Hubert returned to the store like lightning and said to Teresa who was also dumbfounded, "I need to wash my hands. They are dirty."
Teresa hurriedly fetched him a basin of water because he was indeed a clean freak. When they had first lived together, he had not allowed her to touch his things. Hubert then put his hands in the water and rubbed them hard as if he had really gotten his hands dirty when throwing Jenny out.
His actions were not very harmful but were extremely insulting, so the members of the Heller family were quivering with rage.
