Chapter 042 Hubert Felt Like His Wife Thought he Was Useless
Gwendolyn was very enthusiastic. She walked around her new car and praised, "It looks nice. How much is it?"
"30 something grand."
"Full payment or just a down payment?"
"Hubert paid in full."
Gwendolyn smiled, patted her friend on the shoulder, and said, "Teresa, you're amazing! Hubert bought a car for you! You won his heart so fast!"
"Even it was a lightning marriage, I still knew you would get him. You're so good, and Hubert has to be blind if he didn't fall for you."
In Gwendolyn's eyes, her friend is the best.
Entering the store, Teresa poured herself a glass of water. After drinking half of the glass of water, she said, "That's not quite right. I asked Ezra to take me home last night, and Hubert caught us. Hubert thought I was cheating on him, so we almost had a fight."
"After I explained it, he realized he misunderstood me, so he sent me a car as an apology."
Gwendolyn didn't know what to say.
She had already fantasized a million ways of his syrupy apolgies, but reality still hit her in the face.
"Gwen, we've been friends for years. I've only told you the truth about Hubert and I, and I didn't even tell my sister. Frankly, after meeting with his parents on Saturday that night, Hubert brought me an agreement and asked me to sign it."
"The agreement was almost all about protecting his interests, and he seemed to have a preconceived view of me, thinking I was a calculating person. He wrote in the agreement if we don't fall in love with each other in 6 months, he would divorce me, and he would give me the house we live in and his car as a division of the divorce property, which was in fact six months' money for the loss of youth."
"Actually, he is pretty generous in this regard. He bought the house in full, and it was pre-marital property. I can just live there with no strings attached. Since he had already written down the conditions, I didn't bother to negotiate anything, so I signed it. After a long pause, she poked her finger at her friend's forehead and said, "Teresa, what are you thinking? Hubert said that there would be six months, and you would be divorced if you didn't fall in love with each other during this period. Why can't you just try harder?"
"Hubert is the serious type and I guess he doesn't usually talk much. This kind of man actually has a soft heart. If you can conquer him, I believe you will have a happy life in the future. Why are you so fascinated with getting divorced anyway? Did you also tell Hubert about your post-divorce plan?"
Teresa didn't answer.
Gwendolyn knew her, and her silence was actually an affirmative answer.
Gwendolyn helplessly said, "Don't blame Hubert for leaving without you just now. Although he gave you a car as an apology, he also changed a little for you. Otherwise, he would say sorry or give you a bunch of worthless flowers to solve the problem. Why bothered to give you a car?"
Teresa was silent for a long time, and then she said, "Without love, even if we are married, I don't want to owe him too much. However, he is better than my brother-in-law. He pays for the living expenses of our house, and does not split the bills with me."

Teresa had a big heart, so she soon let it go.
However, Hubert felt bad.
The whole afternoon, he wore that angry look and scared everyone at the Donovan Group. They wondered who had offended this unhappy president.

Even people like Chad Donovan and Morgan Swan tried to keep a distance from Hubert.
Although Hubert was unhappy, he kept his promise. After work in the afternoon, he went to the bookstore and waited for Teresa as usual.
Teresa was busy, so he went into the store to help.

Teresa therefore said to him, "Hubert, Leave the counter to me."

Teresa got up helplessly and went out.
She said to Hubert, "Let's go."
Hubert stood still, and when Teresa tried to pull him, he said in a low voice, "You don't think I'm being helpful here!"
Teresa found his words ludicrous, and she pulled him and said, "No. It's just you are not fit for this. Students are more afraid of seeing you than seeing their teachers."
She pulled him into the car and said, "I'll drive the new car back to our house, and then you can drive me to my sister's."
Hubert didn't answer, and he acquiesced to her arrangement.
He felt a bit better.
