Chapter 9 They Had a Cha

Chapter 9 They Had a Chat
After breakfast, Hubert took out his wallet and looked through it. There was not much cash in it, so he drew out a bank card and put it in front of Teresa.
Teresa looked at him with her eyebrows raised.
"If you want to buy something, use this bank card. The password is..."
He went to find a pen and a piece of paper, wrote the password on the paper, and then handed it to Teresa.
"The money in this card will be used for our family. My salsary will be tranfered to the card every month. However, you need to keep an account of everything you buy. I don't mind how much you spend, but I want to know what the money is spent on."
Actually after they got their marriage license, Teresa once asked him if they needed to split the bill. He refused to do that and said they were a couple since they were married and he was willing to spend money for her.
After all, he had so much money that he couldn't even know the total amount. He was always working in the company and didn't spend much money. Therefore, feeding a wife could help him spend some money.
But he didn't plan to be too generous because Teresa was a scheming woman in his eyes. He believed he should be wary of her.
As long as she spent all his money on surporting their family, he didn't mind how much she spent.
Teresa didn't like Hubert's attitude and way of doing things.
She pushed the bank card and the paper with the password on it back to Hubert. She didn't even take a look at the password.
"Mr. Donovan, you are not the only one who lives in the house. I live here as well. You bought the house and let me live here without paying the rent. So I don't think you should pay for all the family expenses. I will pay for the things we need to equip the house."
"I'll discuss with you if we need something worth more than three hundred dollars. At that time, you can surport me with some money."
She made a relatively good salary and it was able to meet the daily expenses of the family. Unless something worth a lot of money should be bought, she didn't need to use his money.
She actually could accept his bank card, but the main reason why she didn't was that she was unhappy with his attitude just now. His attitude suggested he was worried that she would covet his money. Besides, he even asked her to keep an account. She never kept an account of the things she bought in daily life except the expenses of the bookshop.
Hubert was obviously not a fool. On the contrary, he was very smart, noticing that Teresa refused him because his attitude hurt her self-esteem. After a moment of silence, he pushed the bank card and the paper with the password on it towards her and said in a gentle voice, "I know you earn a lot by running a bookshop. Since you said we were both members of the family, we should feed the family together. How can I let you bear all the household expenses alone? Take the card. If you don't like to keep accounts, then don't do it."
"Have you considered buying a car? How about I offer a down payment? It's easy for you to pay for the rest by installments."
He did not deliberately investigate her income, but he knew she ran a bookshop at the gate of Watenll City School, which showed that she was capable of making a lot of money. After all in these years, it was not hard to make money from women and students.
"Our house is not far from my bookshop. I can ride my electric scooter. You know, it's easy to get stuck in a traffic jam during rush hours every day in Watenll City. A car might not be as good as a scooter."
Hubert thought so.
What she said was true.

He usually chose not to go to work during rush hours.
Occasionally, he went out for urgent business in the rush hour and roads were solid with vehicles so much that he even wanted to go out by private jet.
"It's more convenient to have a car. On weekends, you can take your sister and nephew for a short weekend trip."
Hubert remembered that his grandmother said that Teresa was very close to her sister and the people whom she cared about most were her sister and nephew.
"Let's talk about it later. We just got married and still don't know each other well. I think it's weird to let you spend so much money on a car. In fact, my savings are enough to buy a car. But I prefer to buy a house first. Only my own house makes me feel at home. I know men prefer to buy a car, but I'm a woman."
Men and women always had different choices in buying a house or a car. Women generally wanted a house first, while men wanted a car.
"By the way, my sister wants to see you. I told her that you were on a business trip. I will take you to see my sister a few days later."
Hubert said okay.
After the chat, Teresa went to dry her clothes. Hubert sat in the living room and wanted to read newspapers. He hadn't subscribed to newspapers and couldn't find any in the house, so he had to use his mobile phone to read the news to kill time.
"Have you done the laundry?"
After drying her clothes, Teresa asked Hubert who was looking through his mobile phone on the couch.
"I'll do it myself."
His clothes were usually sent to dry cleaners.
Teresa pursed her mouth, made no reply and went to do other things.
Sweeping the floor, mopping the floor and tidying up the house.
Seeing her walk around the house and do what was supposed to be done by maids, Hubert frowned and wanted to say something. After a thought, he chose to keep silent.
In his villa and Donovan Manor, it was the maids who were responsible to do such things, but in ordinary people's homes, wives did all the housework.
Fortunately, before they moved into the house, Hubert's butler had arranged some maids to clean the house. The house was still very clean. Teresa walked around to sweep the floor but did not find any garbage.
After finishing all the housework, Teresa returned to tidy her own bedroom. After a while, she walked out with her phone and said to Hubert who was sitting on the couch, "Mr. Donovan, I'll go to my sister's house and then go to the bookshop. When will you return home tonight? Please send me a message if the time is set. I'll leave the door open for you."
"Except for business trips, I will return home every night. If I go on business trips, I will tell you in advance."
Teresa said okay.
"Te.. Teresa, take this bank card."
Hubert stood up with the bank card in his hand and went to Teresa. He handed it to her and apologized, "I apologize to you for my bad tone just now. I'm sorry!"
Teresa looked at him for a moment and felt that he was very sincere, so she took the bank card and the paper with the password written on it and put them into her trousers pocket.
"I'm going to take off."
"Okay."
Hubert stood still and watched Teresa go out of the house.
When the door was closed, he was relieved.
He didn't seem to play the role of husband very well.
He sat back on the couch and picked up the mobile phone on the tea table to call the butler of Donovan Manor. After the butler answered the phone, Hubert said in a low voice, "Mr. Yordish, after my grandmother gets up, tell her to bring some gentlemen and their wives to Florence Garden for dinner this weekend. She will understand what's going on."
