Chapter 77 Go for It, Teresa
Teresa chuckled, "I heard that Grandpa and Grandma only do three things in the hospital. Sleeping, eating, and criticizing me. They don't think they were wrong at all. Do they really want to apologize?"
Oliver opened his mouth, trying to defend his grandparents, but words would not come out.
The old couple didn't really give in. Temporarily persuaded, they just wanted to end this soon and eliminate the influence on everyone.
Once both parties were reconciled, the matter would dissolve. Newer events would appear on the trending topics to distract the netizens till they forgot the matter. Peace would then be restored in the Heller family.
The whole thing let them know the power of the internet, but water could carry a boat or overturn it. They couldn't randomly leverage the internet to attack anyone. If things backfired, they were going to suffer.
"If this is all, you can leave now. Don't overcrowd the place and affect my business."
Teresa ordered the guests to leave, unwilling to go on with the meaningless conversation.
Her cousins were livid.
Gwendolyn and Ezra stood on the side, glaring at them.
After a long time, Petter said, "Teresa, be lenient wherever it is possible. Don't burn your bridge."
With that, he turned around and headed out.
In the Heller family, Petter was unparalleled in his generation. Beyond his family, he was the most capable person in the Hellereign Village.
Whenever he went back to the village, he would be flattered by everyone. Now he was too embarrassed by Teresa's words to stay there any longer.
He hated Teresa's guts, thinking that she didn't care about their kinship. When her parents were alive, their families had been on good terms. After they passed away, Leila and Teresa drifted apart from them.
If Teresa knew what Petter was thinking, she would probably jump on him.
Did her sister and she drift apart from them? They knew the answer.
These people were shameless to put the blame on them.
Her cousins then left. Except for Troy, who was too young to have a driving license, the others all had cars. Each of them was driving one.
They came and went quickly.
The cheapest one among the cars cost 30,000 to 50,000 dollars. Petter was driving a 150,000-dollar-worth Mercedes-Benz.
"Teresa, they went too far. You should not compromise easily. Keep them anxious for a few days and consider reconciliation after they suffer great losses, or they'll think that you're easy to bully. They resorted to guilt trip, apologized to you insincerely, and hoped that you would let it pass. If you grant their wish so easily, they will bully you again."
Ezra had read Teresa's tweet and felt sorry for her.
It was a shame that he had just entered the workplace and hadn't established himself. He was too young and powerless to support Teresa.
If he had the same status, position, and means as Hubert Donovan, he would definitely make these people pay for what they did.
"I won't be reconciled with them easily. They sued for peace not out of sincerity but under the pressure of public opinion. Their lives have been affected. They have no choice but to come and see me. If no influence and losses had been caused, they wouldn't have bowed to me."
All along, those people believed that they had done nothing wrong. In their minds, Teresa should pay the medical bills for Astra and cover the expenses of their trip downtown.
The old couple had been living in Teresa's house, and that made them believe it was her responsibility to take care of the two seniors.
They chose to turn a blind eye to unfair things they had done.
"Honestly, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears, I wouldn't have believed that there are such terrible people in this world, and it's not one person but a family."
Gwendolyn had never heard of such things before.
Ezra also found these people thick-skinned and shameless.
"Teresa, I've recorded your conversation."
Gwendolyn said, "I'll send the recording to you lest they should make up stories on the internet again."
Teresa gave her friend a thumbs up. She had been too angry to record the whole thing.
"Ezra, are you not going to work?"
After sending the file to her friend, Gwendolyn remembered that her cousin was still in the store. She urged the latter to go.
Unwilling to leave, Ezra said, "It's alright. I'm working in the family business anyway."
"Just because of that, you should work hard, abide by the rules, set a good example for everyone, and let no one find faults with you. Come on and go. If your mother learns you're not in the office, you will be taught a lesson."
Ezra was the eldest son of their family. His parents had high expectations for him. They hoped that he would become the successor of the Porter Group.
Teresa also urged him, "Ezra, you should go before the shift is over."
Ezra muttered something, grabbed the car keys, and reminded Teresa while heading out, "Teresa, don't forget our appointment."
"Rest assured, I've never broken my promise."
Only then did Ezra reluctantly leave the bookstore.
Peace was restored.
Gwendolyn resumed her business while Teresa was weaving the craft.
When it was almost noon, she put away the tools since the class was over.
In the CEO's office of the Donovan Group, Morgan said casually, after discussing business matters with his boss, "Mr. Donovan, a dozen people from Teresa's family menacingly drove to her store."
When Hubert heard that, his dark eyes flickered, but on the surface, he remained calm. Without even raising his head, he said indifferently, "Teresa is an independent woman. Besides, she's on the right side. Those people could do nothing."
Met with such composure from his boss, Morgan sensibly changed the subject.
It hadn't been long since their lighting marriage, and his boss was cold by nature. It would probably take Teresa some time to win Hubert's heart.
Teresa, don't give up.
Go for it!
Morgan encouraged Teresa in his heart, hoping that she could sweep Hubert off his feet sooner. He would have more fun to watch.
"Why don't we have lunch together?
After signing a document, Hubert put down the pen, glanced at Morgan, and refused, "I'll lose my appetite if I dine with you."
Morgan was speechless.
"I hate gossip and prefer quiet."
Morgan was stunned. How would he gather information for his boss without gossiping?
