Chapter 30 The Taste of Jealousy

Chapter 30 The Taste of Jealousy
Teresa didn't know what Hubert had said to Madam Donovan. She was surprised to meet Hubert at Violet Cafe. When she remembered Madam Donovan had helped Gwendolyn persuade her into accompanying her to attend the blind date, she understood why Hubert had appeared there.
But what was her purpose?
To make Hubert misunderstand her?
But it was Gwen instead of her who had gone on the blind date. Even though Hubert had seen...
When she had met Hubert in the coffee shop just now, his expression had been even colder than usual. No matter how dull Teresa was, she knew he had misunderstood. After all, Gwen had gone to the lavatory, and she had been alone with Mr. Moore.
Fortunately, Gwen came out later and she explained in time, and then Hubert's expression softened a little.
Teresa couldn't understand why Madam Donovan had done this to her. She had saved Madam Donovan but she never thought of herself as her benefactor. It was Madam Donovan who always wanted to reward her. Moreover, Madam Donovan was always treating her well. So, Teresa did not believe she had tried to harm her.
After she returned home in confusion, she sat on the swing chair on the balcony without even turning on the lights and quietly looked at the night sky.
Hubert returned late at night.
When he came back, Teresa was asleep. She had fallen asleep on the swing chair, but he didn't know. When he saw the door of her bedroom was closed and the lights were turned off, he guessed she had gone to bed.
Then, he sat down on the sofa in the living room and turned on the TV. He barely watched TV, but now, he felt that the apartment was too quiet.
But he turned the volume down for fear that the noise would wake Teresa, who was sleeping in the bedroom.
Suddenly, his phone rang. It was Chad..
So, he answered the call and said, "Chad?"
"Hubert, are you okay?" Chad asked concernedly on the phone.
After remaining silent for a while, Hubert asked, "Did you know grandma was playing a trick on me?"
"What did she do to you? I know she called you and asked you to buy Violet café's snacks. You should know she likes the snacks there very much."
Hubert sneered, "Teresa happened to have a blind date at Violet Cafe."
"What?" Chad whispered in astonishment, "Teresa went on a blind date? Is she cheating on you? But you just got your marriage license. Yesterday, you two even had dinner with your parents to discuss the wedding affairs. Why did she go on a blind date today?"
"She accompanied her friend to attend the blind date."
Chad said, "...Hubert, you should have made it clearer! I misunderstood Teresa just now! She looks upright. I know she won't mess around with other men."
"When I arrived, her friend happened to go to the bathroom, and she was having coffee with the man alone."
"What a coincidence! Even if grandma tricked you into going there, she could not let you see such a scene, right?"
After keeping silent for a while, Hubert said helplessly, "Grandma bought Violet Cafe not long ago. She is the owner of that coffeehouse now."
He was the head of the family, so he knew what his grandmother was doing.
"Do you mean grandma asked the waiters to watch Teresa and to lead you inside when her friend went to the bathroom? She tricked you into going there because she wanted you to see such a scene?"
Chad was a smart man, so he quickly figured it out.
Then, he giggled, "Hubert, since you have got a marriage certificate, you're married. It's normal for grandma to be anxious. She just wanted to make you jealous. So, are you jealous?"

"I've never known what it's like to be jealous!"
Chad laughed, "I believe you will feel jealous because of Teresa one day. Grandma likes her very much. And I think you will fall for her sooner or later. Although her family background is so-so, she is excellent in all the other aspects. She is particularly good at making handicrafts with copper wires. Her works are beautiful."
He received a tree that Teresa had woven with copper wires. It was not worth much money, but it meant amassing fortunes. So the more he looked at it, the more he loved it. And he decided to take it to the office and put it on his desk tomorrow to attract fortune!
Hubert remembered the video his grandmother had sent him. In the video, Teresa was focusing on making handicrafts, looking particularly charming.
He had watched it several times and had to admit that when she was concentrating on her work with confidence, she had a charming aura around her, attracting people's attention like a big magnet.
It was said that confident women were the most beautiful. And Teresa looked confident all the time. She was a determined and independent woman.
"I have not felt jealous before, and I will never feel so in the future... You didn't go to bed?"
Hubert froze when he saw Teresa walking in from the balcony.
Chad said, "Yes, but I am talking to you on my bed now. I will sleep right away."
Hubert suddenly hung up the call.
Chad was speechless.
Teresa replied, "I was sitting on the balcony and fell asleep before I knew it. You woke me up when talking on the phone."
Hubert frowned, "It is cold at night. Don't catch a cold."
"Thank you for your concern." Teresa yawned, "Mr. Donovan, I'm going to bed now."
She did not intend to talk to him about what had happened tonight.
Hubert watched her walk into the bedroom in silence.
And he was not sure if she had heard what he had said to Chad or how much she had heard.
Well, to suddenly have a wife and live under the same roof made Hubertn feel that his life was no longer private.
Hubert knew how much Teresa had heard at breakfast the next day because there was a bottle of vinegar beside his plate.
Teresa had made spaghetti with fried eggs for breakfast. And she had added chopped green onion and Bolognese.
After she took out a bottle of sauce from the kitchen, she unscrewed the lid, put some into her spaghetti with a spoon, then pushed the bottle to Hubert, and said, "Would you like the sauce? It will make the spaghetti taste better."
"No, thank you," Hubert declined.
Teresa closed the lid, put the bottle aside, and then took the vinegar over, opened the lid, poured some into her plate, and said, "When I eat spaghetti, I like to put some vinegar in. It will become sour and delicious. It is like the feeling of jealousy."
Hubert didn't respond.
"Mr. Donovan, you said you have never felt jealous before. Try the vinegar. I'll add some to your spaghetti."
Before he could refuse, she poured some vinegar into his plate, close the bottle, and then put the vinegar next to the sauce, picked up her fork, and said to him, "Eat."
Hubert looked at her for a moment before picking up his fork to eat the spaghetti she had cooked. It tasted a little sour because of the vinegar. But as she had said, it was delicious.
"How does it taste?"
"Sour," he replied without thinking.
"This is the taste of vinegar. It is sour! And it is also the taste of jealousy. Mr. Donovan, you have tasted it. Don't tell others that you have never felt jealous anymore. Otherwise, people would suspect that you are an idiot."
Hubert was speechless.
