Chapter 176 She's Not Afraid to Fight
The incident quickly spread like fire to Aiden from Bobby the fuse. Instantly, the online discussion became even more heated on Aiden than on Bobby. Jane reloaded the comment page every few minutes, and new comments appeared in hundreds or thousands of pieces. Dark, ugly, and even idiotic comments aiming to follow suit and slander swarmed in again and again, as if the one who should be universally condemned was Aiden.
Jane truly wanted to summon all these people over and contradict their remarks. Did they know Aiden? Had they met him before? Did they know what kind of person Aiden was? Why did they slander a good person like this?
The more she thought, the angrier she became. She sat down at her computer desk, opened a document to quickly collect those few online comments that slandered Aiden most fiercely, and refuted every one of them with her replies written below.
Time passed quickly. Ellie had already prepared breakfast. When she still didn't see Jane come out, she thought Jane had overslept, so she pushed open her door quietly.
Seeing Jane sitting at her computer desk, she asked in surprise, "You're awake?"
Jane looked back and said with a normal expression, "You eat first. I have something urgent to deal with."
Ellie turned around and left without saying anything. When she came back, she had some toasted bread and a glass of milk in her hands. She put them down and quietly went out.
Jane closed the door and continued her job. She collected a total of seventeen questions. Some depreciated Forward Education, some doubted Aiden's character, and some mocked Y University. She skimmed through them habitually to pick out misspellings. When she had corrected all the mistakes, she picked up her phone and called Jennifer.
Jennifer answered her call and said, "Jane."
"I'll email you something now. Please take a look."
As she spoke on the phone, she operated her computer. Her phone was quiet for a while, but then Jennifer's surprised voice came, "You want to post it?"
Jennifer saw Jane's replies to the netizens. If the netizens' comments were unfair, then Jane's replies were in fact harsh. For example, a netizen said that Forward Education's high charge was insulting education, and Jane replied, "Don't tell me that you've studied hard at school for about twenty years only in order to live like a beggar for the rest of your life! The state provided you with thirteen-year free education, but you didn't work hard. Yet, now you come to question the educational group who can have high payments because of their hard work. This thought fully proves one thing: you're so poorly educated that you can only be a jealous shrew in the virtual network world in this life."
Jennifer thought that Jane was right, but this was undoubtedly an insult to those incapable hordes who were enthusiastic about picking holes in others.
Jane said, "If you can find someone to make this a trending topic, that's the best. I'll pay for it."
She added, "I didn't write a single untrue word. Anyone who disagrees can come to debate. I'll see how they confuse right and wrong and make up stories."
Jennifer said, "Slanderers won't care so much. They can slander you in every way possible. If you don't explain it, they say you're acquiescing. If you explain it, they say you're sophisticating. If you fall, they'll laugh at your failure. If you succeed, they'll accuse you of speculating. You take out evidence to defend yourself, but they can't see it because they are blind. They'll swear at you as always. You'll fall victim to it."
Jane said, "All my high school teachers still remember his good deeds five years after Aiden graduated. The Y University motto tells us that we must be honest and brave. When we are at school, we are proud because of our school. After we graduate, the school should be proud of us. The Aiden and Y University I know are different from the images in their words. Why can't I explain it in broad daylight when they are allowed to spout venom? Only they have mouths?"
Jennifer knew how important Aiden was in Jane's heart. That was a flag and model. Jane had always hoped that she could be as excellent as he was. Now, when she saw her idol being insulted, she could not be calm at all.
"Okay, I'll ask someone to help you. Now I am also full of enthusiasm."
Jane said, "Someone has done something immoral. We won't feel pity even if he is dead, but don't drag down the renowned centennial university."
Jennifer said, "And God Cater in your heart."
Jane didn't give a word about it. If Aiden was a general, she would be his soldier. She could not remain aloof and indifferent. Since everyone only had one mouth and one keyboard, then she would see who would fall in the war of words.
If someone could really change the faith she had been firmly holding in the twenty-plus years, she would thank them. If they could not, even if she fought alone, she would never admit defeat.
Jennifer said, "I've just handed your article to my subordinates, letting them do the job. If nothing unexpected happens, you'll suddenly see trending topics soon. Get mentally prepared."
Jane said, "I'll well-prepared." She was ready to fight anytime.
Jennifer sighed and was worried, saying, "Sure enough, a friend in need is a friend indeed. Everyone nags that someone's their idol, but when something really happens, who can support their idol like this?"
Jane said calmly, "I'm only maintaining the order in my heart. No one can overturn the order of right and wrong in my heart."
And she added, "Aren't you afraid of the slanderers' venomous words?"
Jennifer answered, "I haven't been so enthusiastic for a long time. Fu*k the damned measurements and calculations! Even if I've never seen him, even if I'm not his friend, why can't I stand in line with him? I'm also a Y University graduate."
But Jane suggested sensibly, "Don't be reckless! Think about it carefully. I'm alone. Even if my real identity is found by them through searching, I won't be afraid. You have dozens of employees, and your father also has a company. Beware of getting him involved."
Jane answered, "First, my alma mater does not allow those little dogs to bark crazily. Second, I believe in God Cater's character. Even if I don't take friendship or righteousness into account, this is a good chance to gain fame. Whether I'll be hurt or get benefits because of my first shout for the righteous, I'll make a bet. I take this as free advertising for my company."
An adult's life was always with all kinds of profits and pros and cons. Jennifer would never lie to Jane, just as she never tried to cover up her meanness. And Jane would not think this thought was anything wrong. Instead, those who didn't think about benefits or things like that were real idiots.
Jane clicked on the comment and saw that some supported her views while some objected. Some said that Aiden's PR team had begun striking back, and some were mediating without principle. They said that this had nothing to do with Aiden, but they also had a guess: he wanted to use this chance to become popular again?
People's hearts were so dark indeed. A group of people was shouting at the person who had not done anything wrong, and surrounding them were those who thought they held the right view. They muttered, "Why are people shouting at him, not someone else? There must be a reason."
"People's hearts are evil. Growth is a process of keeping restraining oneself." These were the words Aiden had said as an invited presenter at Jane's award ceremony in her sophomore year at college.
