Chapter 193 Tough
Jane Cooper didn't know what Edward Smith was doing behind her back, let alone what the man in front of her was going to do. The hunch was not a good one. It's better to leave.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Jones, I can't help you." Getting up, Jane nodded politely and made a gesture to leave.
The man said, "Miss Cooper offers a price, and I will never make a counter-offer."
Jane paused and questioned earnestly, "If you don't make a counteroffer, can you pay the 10 billion?" It makes sense that the standard response should be "it's not about money," but she continued.
The man looked up at her, "Miss Cooper is joking?"
Jane answered firmly and with sternness, "I don't know how much business you want to do with Mr. Edward. This is my intended price."
Hearing the words, the man smiled, "Okay, I was too smug just now, can you sit down and discuss it?"
Jane said, "That's my price, and I will never bargain."
The man laughed in an odd half-laugh, "As soon as you start speaking, you demand a small portion of my whole cooperation. Is it fair that I'm not sure if I can earn this?"
Jane said, "I don't know much about business, but petty profits are not enough to impress me."
The man said, "Don't joke, 30 million, you can call Edward and ask him to come over."
Jane didn't care about the amount of money. But she was very sensitive that the man had requested Edward to come over. Whether it is to talk about business or seek revenge, it is still unclear.
Jane was alert but looked as usual, "Don't joke, don't embarrass me anymore, I can't do this."
After speaking, she nodded slightly and walked towards the door. The man sat on the chair and didn't move. Jane was still puzzled. She always felt that it was not so simple. As expected, she tried open the door several times, but the door seemed to be locked from the outside.
A man's voice came from behind, "Miss Cooper, I'm looking for Edward. I don't want to make trouble for you. You have the option of calling or texting. As long as he comes over alone, I promise to let you go immediately."
Jane turned around, stared at the man's back and said, "Are you looking for him for business?"
The man replied while taking a sip of tea without turning around, "It doesn't matter with you what we will talk about."
Jane said, "If something happens to him, I will be in trouble."
With a faint smile on his attractive face, the man moved his head to the side. He opened his lips, and said softly, "You should worry about yourself now, if something does not happen to him, you will be the unlucky one."
After getting the exact answer, Jane's heart dropped slightly. He really came to seek revenge. It was all her fault for being careless.
Soon, she replied aloud, "I will."
She called 911!
When she looked down at the phone, the man said, "Barlow," with a small voice-uplift.
The door of the bathroom was pushed open. A short, unremarkable man entered with a common appearance. He moved forward to face Jane.
Barlow stretched out his hand to Jane. Jane looked vigilant, "What are you doing?"
"Cell phone."
Jane quickly considered a number of possibilities. She might be protesting as the first option, whacking him in the head with a bag, then bolting for the door. But a lock was on the door. There was definitely someone waiting outside. The second one, she may have been striking him over the head with a bag before yelling for assistance. But one can envision the results. She will likely be strangled by the neck after one or two noises, according to estimates. For the third, she may smack him over the head with a sack before going up to the man near the tea table and attempting to blackmail him.
Forget it, Jane knows her ability.
"Miss Cooper, don't do irrational things. Barlow's actions are not gentle with his hands."
As if feeling her defenses, the man at the tea table looked sideways and warned.
Jane honestly stretched out her hand to take the phone out of her bag and gave it to Barlow. Barlow pick it up. The moment he touched the mobile phone, he suddenly frowned and instinctively retracted his hand.
He was electrocuted by the phone!
This is Jane's newest weapon of self-defense. The previous one was given to Ken Garcia. It was something that was prepared for. She didn't expect it would be useful one day.
This tool was boosted by its amazing skills on the Internet. It was said that it only takes one second to subdue a satyr, but it takes one minute for the other party to calm down. That's enough to escape. Jane believed that. But why is the man standing still in front of her, looking more fierce?
She nervously put the phone in front of her with trepidation. She was trying to defend herself with her ferocious gaze.
Everything happened within a second. The man at the tea table seemed to be stunned for a moment, and asked aloud, "What's wrong?"
Barlow stared at Jane without blinking, and said solemnly, "Her phone is electrocuted."
The man was surprised and laughed out loud. He said after a long time, "No wonder Edward treats you differently, you are so interesting."
Jane stared at Barlow intently. She said to the man, "I won't take sides in your private disputes, and I won't help you in any way. You may now let me go. I pretended nothing had occurred."
The man asked with great interest as he rested one arm on the chair's back. "You won't notify Edward as soon as you leave out, will you?"
"I swear." Definitely will!
The man said, "Only a wise man can recognize current trends. As a woman, you must always put your own safety first. You must always prioritize your own safety as a woman. You are a sweet and lovely young lady. Why engage in competition with males. If you don't ask Edward to come over, I will let you not get out of this door."
Jane didn't hesitate at all, "You try."
As soon as the words left her mouth, she saw Barlow moving his body. Jane wanted to use her phone to electrocute him. But for some reason, the man's hand seized her wrist for a second, and with a clever twist, she couldn't help frowning. With a humming sound, the tool just fell to the ground.
"Barlow." The man behind her called out.
Only then did Barlow release Jane's hand, and took a few steps back indifferently.
Jane was sticking to the wall. She was really startled just now, and her face changed.
The man at the tea table asked with "concern" in his eyes, "Are you alright?"
Jane looked at him coldly, thinking about how to escape.
"Don't think about it, I must meet Edward today. You keep saying that you are a tutor of the Smith family. Normal people would choose their own life and death over that of the consumer, right?"
Without waiting for Jane to respond, he continued, "Remind you that the situation between Edward and I is more serious than you may believe. So I will definitely use some special means. Don't you think that I am just kidding you? If you don't choose money. The only thing I can do is say sorry to you first. I'm sorry you have to bear for Edward."
Jane stared at him for a few seconds. Then she stretched out her hand to take out her wallet. Barlow's eyes were vigilant. When he saw Jane took out another mobile phone from inside, he didn't dare to raise his hand to pick it up easily.
There was a window behind Jane. She quickly opened the window, without saying a word, and threw the phone outside.
Not only Barlow, but the man at the tea table raised his eyes slightly.
Jane closed the window calmly, "I won't call him, you call."
