Chapter 102 Neither Gods nor Demons Can Be Offended
"So obvious?" Jane looked back at Edward and said with a poker face.
"Very obvious," Edward answered.
Jane said, "Losing a job is a serious event. If the person also steals things, he will not only lose his job but also destroy his chance to work." So she should take it seriously.
"Justin and Henry support you, so you won't lose your job for the time being," Edward said, his eyes smiling.
"They have a great love for their friend. I've decided to invite them and prepare a meal for them on the weekend, and I won't let them help me," Jane said.
Edward said inwardly, "I also believe in you, but why don't you invite me and prepare a meal for me?" But he held his tongue when he was about to say it, afraid that she might not know it was a joke so that they would end up embarrassed.
The two of them stood chatting for a long time at the spot where there was a draught, in spite of the fact that one had a house and the other had a car. Edward already felt a little cold. When he saw Jane, he found that she seemed to wear few clothes than he did.
"I had nothing serious to tell you. I just came to greet you. If you again find that someone tails after you, tell me anytime."
"Okay, I see," Jane nodded and said.
The two of them went in different directions at the entrance of the residential area. Edward pulled open the car door, sat in, and dialed a number, ordering, "Bring him over."
After a short time, a bodyguard came to Edward's car with a man wearing a hat. Edward lowered the car window, and his bodyguard passed the camera to him. Holding a cigarette in his mouth, he flipped through the photos one by one. The photos in the camera were those about his chatting with Jane that had happened moments earlier. After browsing them, he threw the camera to the passenger's seat and turned to the side, puffing a cloud of smoke outside.
All those detectives of S City definitely knew Edward. The moment he saw his face, the man immediately nodded and bent his back to apologize.
Edward was not angry but asked in a seemingly common tone, "You even dared to tail after me, eh?"
"Not you..." the man instantly said.
"You followed Jane and took photos of me at the same time?" Edward questioned.
The man was so nervous that he almost had a cold sweat, but he didn't say yes or no. Instead, he apologized again and again.
"Everyone makes a living by doing a job. No one's life is easy," Edward said.
"Yes, yes, yes..."
"Let's take these photos as something I bought from you. Don't tail after Jane from now on. Go back and tell the one who hired you or your colleagues or those in your sector that I'll give the one I caught next time the burial fee, not the money for the photos."
He spoke in a casual tone, but the hearer, whose heart and soul trembled, agreed instantly with a series of yeses.
After smoking, Edward raised the car window and stepped on the accelerator. Soon the car went through the gate of Rhine Garden
As soon as she stepped into her home, she shuddered because of the temperature difference between the inside and the outside. She changed her shoes and walked inside. Before she reached the living room, the mobile phone in her pocket rang. She took it out and saw that it was Charles Lee.
"Hello, what do you want to instruct me so late at night, boss?"
"Of course, I called you for something nice," Charles answered.
While going to the dining hall to pour water, Jane joked, "It is something nice, so I might as well hear it."
"Aiden has come back to S City. We'll go eat tomorrow. Do you want to join us?"
Half-drinking her water, Jane froze a bit, removed the cup from her mouth, and answered, "I'm busy tomorrow. You guys go eat."
Ken Garcia and Aiden Cater were the major shareholders of Oriental Journey. She met Ken tonight, and Edward didn't blame her, but it didn't mean that Edward wouldn't think too much if she went to meet Ken tomorrow. He showed her respect, but she couldn't try to cross the line too far. Standing in his shoes to think, she knew that she should avoid arousing suspicion.
"I know you're busy in the daytime, so I especially asked him to eat in the evening. What else will you do after leaving the office tomorrow evening?" Charles said.
Jane made up a reason, saying that she had promised to give her student an extra lesson. Hearing it, Charles had no choice but to say, "I've been thinking about introducing Aiden to you. You have the strength and you also work hard, so you should show up a few times in front of the boss."
"You're the boss, aren't you?" Jane refuted jokingly.
"I'm just a laborer. Aiden Cater is the real boss of Forward Education. You should have more exchanges with him. It's beneficial, not harmful at all."
"I know. Thank you, Charles."
"Okay. You don't have time this time, and there's a next time. Anyway, Aiden won't immediately leave after returning this time."
"I'll be waiting for you to take me to the path of prosperity," Jane said with a smile.
"I do feel that you'll have a better future than I. Now I must take the chance to fawn on you and build close ties with you. When you have a successful career, don't forget my sincere wish I showed you today."
"Yes, sire, I'll try to get good luck by your imperial decree." Jane arched her eyes and smiled.
The two of them exchanged a few jokes and hung up. After that, Jane gradually stopped smiling, thinking, "Aiden has come back to S City, but does he know the disputes between Oriental Journey and the inside of QZ? It's possible that he doesn't know. After all, there are a lot of properties under his name. A few days ago, he stayed in Y City wholeheartedly. If you say he couldn't leave there, it's understandable; but what if he knew? Did he tacitly approve of the behavior of going public first by plagiarizing?"
In all fairness, Jane, an adult, could totally understand such a business competition. This was even not a vicious competition. It was at most one of the means of dealing with things. As his alumna and a person who had been regarding him as her model without his knowledge over the years, Jane selfishly didn't want to see him act like that, which he knew. She hoped that he was frank and forthright and that he would overcome his difficulties and go through adversity, and she even more hoped that he could tell the right from the wrong, although she knew that this was the standard for the saints.
"Alas..."
As she thought further, Jane heaved a sigh alone at home.
Edward had got the approval document from Y University, but Jane didn't feel happy. The game of Aiden's company was the first to go public, and she didn't feel happy, either. What was wrong? Would she be happy only when the results were the opposite?
She, who had experienced so much since her childhood, had long dropped the idea of letting everything satisfy her wish, but she was still dreaming at the bottom of her heart, "If only both sides could be satisfied."
The first night Aiden Cater was back in S City, Ken treated him to dinner. The former was not a man who had a lot of friends, and he couldn't get along well with Ken's fair-weather friends. Therefore, every time they had dinner, only the two of them were present.
When they were alone, Aiden asked frankly, "What happened? The game was released in advance, but its appearance was so much different from that when it was tested internally."
But Ken said with an expression that he didn't think it was a thing, "We planned to release it one month later, but someone unknown did something good without revealing his name, sending a new appearance to our company. Everyone checked it and thought it was acceptable, so I asked our men to announce the news and release it in advance."
"Where did the new appearance come from?" Aiden asked seriously.
"I heard that QZ lost something recently. They've been investigating it, trying to find the leaker."
"Our company prepared half a year, and I've checked the first internally tested version. It wouldn't be inferior to anyone else's. We didn't have to do something like this," Aiden said.
"His version was not better than mine. Fortunately, I used his version, but he couldn't use mine. He could only watch me show my splendor in front of him, but he couldn't do anything. How interesting!"
"To vent your anger, you were given the plagiarizing name. Don't you feel ashamed?" Aiden said, not smiling.
But Ken answered peacefully, "Who's ashamed, Edward or me? He was unable, and he got a leaker. If I were him, I would be too ashamed to show up in public."
Aiden was silent. Ken let out a tut and half-coaxing and half-persuading him, said, "Could you be a little flexible? Don't stick to the rules so obstinately! You also admitted that our initial product was not inferior to his. This is just a way of competition. You've been doing business for so many years. Haven't you suffered enough from being stubborn?"
Aiden had beautiful looks, but there was indifference in his eyes and eyebrows. Hearing it, he said without showing his emotions, "All those who entrapped me those days don't have a very good life now. I can even use aboveboard means to make them go bankrupt and be imprisoned."
"You're brilliant! You're a great master, but I have my heterodox means. Just think that you let me be happy for once, okay? Don't put on a straight face as soon as you came back! I'm not a little girl who has to watch your face and behave all day long."
