Chapter 100 That’s Enough

Chapter 100 That's Enough
Jane really paid the bill after the meal. The people at the reception desk all knew Ken. It was the first time they had seen the woman he took out pay the bill.
Ken stood aside, watched Jane finish swiping her card and asked, "Shall I take you back?"
Just as he expected, Jane replied, "No, I'll take a taxi."
Ken asked someone to call for a taxi. He opened the back door for Jane. When Jane got in and closed the door, he suddenly leaned over and pressed himself against the window and said, "Seriously, if he suspects you, don't be sad. Just fire him. Anyway, Aiden will help you at Forward Education. I'm also here to offer help. I have always welcomed you warmly, but you are unwilling to accept that."
Jane looked sideways at Ken's good-looking and gentle face and said lightly, "Thank you, but I have no intention of changing my client."
Ken said, "He who strikes first gains the advantage. You don't fire him, and then just wait until he fires you."
Jane said, "I won't."
Ken was stunned for a moment. He knew that Jane meant that she would never betray Edward's trust.
His smile was full of meaning gradually, and he said, "Well, it seems you haven't suffered enough."
He straightened up, put his hands in his trouser pockets, and said to the driver, "Please drive slowly on the road."
The driver nodded, stepped on the gas, and carried Jane away.
Ken turned around and walked inside the restaurant. Just as he entered, someone followed him and whispered, "There's someone outside taking photos secretly."
Ken looked as normal as he walked, "Who is that?"
"Not a reporter, I think it's a private detective."
The corners of Ken's lips were lifted invisibly. There was a hint of mockery crossing his eyes at the same time. But he said indifferently, "Don't worry about it."
Jane trusted Edward so much. Did she know that she had a "tail" behind her? He could know exactly where she was going and who she was meeting.
At 9 pm., Edward was still at the office. The game director and the main developer in front of him all looked pale and sullen. The director had assured Edward repeatedly that he would find a way around the problem immediately.
Edward said calmly, "Money doesn't matter. What I can't tolerate was that someone work here help people outside under my nose. You can check yourselves, but there is no need to blame yourselves too much. Eat well and sleep well. Don't be too tired. People would imagine that I squeeze you badly."
Edward has always cared about them. All the employees work for him knew that. When he said this, everyone was more anxious and even felt pity for his loss of money and opportunities.
Edward said, "My company doesn't welcome idle people. I have faith that you're all capable. We have nothing to be afraid of. If you are easily frightened by Oriental Journey's first release, you are all cowards."
One of the developers made a statement on the spot, "Don't worry, boss! We have promised that the game will be released on time even if we have to work all night. And it must be better than Oriental Journey's!"
These men who majored in science and engineering always kept their words. Edward nodded his head, "I believe you guys. After this matter, the company will reward everyone with a trip abroad. Those with family members will go to Europe, while those who are single will go to Japan. All expenses can be covered."
Someone didn't understand, "Why can those who have family members go to Europe?" They felt it was unfair for those single men.
The director looked sideways and teased, "Silly! Why would you go to Japan if you have a girlfriend?"
"Ah, then can I go to Japan first, find a girlfriend there, and then go to Europe?"
"Don't display your cleverness here. Hurry up and get your skin done first ......"
There were only men in the room, so they were totally without scruple. The atmosphere was much better than before after several small talks. The director said to Edward timely, "Since you're busy, we won't disturb you. We go out to work."

Edward responded in agreement.
As soon as the group left, the secretary came in and said, "Boss, Miss Brown is here to see you."
Edward didn't answer two phone calls from Beth in the day. Now she was at his door. He lowered his eyes to hide the obvious impatience in his eyes and said, "Let her in."
After a while, Beth in a formal suit stepped in. Edward was sitting behind his desk. He didn't look up at Beth, trying to look busy, though he had nothing to do.
Beth opened the door and asked, "How's the investigation going?"
Edward replied without any enthusiasm, "Still working on it."
Beth asked, "Are there any suspects?"
Edward said, "I trust all the people around me."
Beth pulled out the guest chair in front of his desk, sat down and said, "Only those you trust can betray you."
As she spoke, she pulled an envelope out of her bag and handed it to Edward.
Edward's eyes lifted slightly. After a few seconds he picked it up and took out the things inside. It was a pile of photographs. At first, there was only Jane alone in the photos. She went out and entered a restaurant. Then, she was followed by Ken when she left. Ken even bent over and pressed himself against the car window. There were several photos showing that, some of which managed to capture the smile on his face.
Beth looked at Edward, trying to see the slightest change in his expression on his face, but Edward was expressionless for the whole time. He didn't even finish looking at the photos. He just threw them on the table, lit a cigarette, and asked, "Why are you showing me this?"
Beth said with a straight face, "Don't you think your tutor is getting too close to Ken?"
Edward exhaled white smoke from his mouth and asked instead of answering, "Who let you ask someone to follow her?"
Beth said, "From the time I knew Ken was treating her differently, I began to harbour doubts about her. After such a big event, don't you suspect her at all? She was close to Ken and was working as a tutor in your house!"
Edward held back his impatience and said, "Do you know what uninvited people means? Don't intervene in my affairs under the guise of helping me."
Beth's face didn't change as she fixed her eyes on him and said, "Then don't hide your desire to cover Jane's back under the guise of blaming me for being a stickybeak."
The atmosphere was really tense. Edward's face was expressionless, but his gaze at Beth was extremely cold. After a few seconds he said, "Are you questioning me?"
His voice was light. Beth knew what he was going to say next. She admitted that she was selfish. All was only her own wishful thinking. But, she would not allow him to be so crazy and go his own way.
Taking a deep breath, Beth adjusted her breathing and sat squarely in the chair. She looked at Edward without any fear and said, "When QZ was established, my elder brother was also a shareholder. Now there are moles among us, who directly affect the interests of shareholders. I have the right to investigate. Besides, what makes you think Jane is not a mole? Do you know what kind of person she is?"
Edward laughed, "What kind of person is she?"
There was a sheer contempt in Beth's eyes, as if she had been waiting for this occasion for a long time and finally had the chance to say it in front of Edward. "Her father is a fugitive and now when you search the news from more than ten years ago, the police still mark him as a criminal who has not been captured. She was then with her dissolute mother. Her mother interfered in other people's families. When the original spouse couldn't find her mother, she went to Jane's school and slapped her. Her mother committed suicide. I can't find out the exact reason, so I can't talk about that casually. And Jane's surname is not Cooper. Probably she was afraid of being involved by her father, so she changed her surname. These years, she has been living with her aunt. You know her aunt......"
Before she finished, Edward suddenly interrupted, "I'm not curious about what's going on in her family, and I don't care. I like her. That's enough."
