Chapter 145 Birthday Surprise
Edward sat down. Seeing a pile of paper-folded frogs scattered on the coffee table, he asked, "Who folded it?"
In fact, he was not interested who folded it at all, and even not interested in these frogs, but he must find something to say.
Justin replied subconsciously, "Bad Teacher..."
Halfway through his words, he met Jane's gaze and changed his words temporarily, "Sister Jane did it."
Edward said, "Aren't you most afraid of frogs?"
Justin slightly frowned,"Who knows it. The frog should be the last thing to be folded."
"Don't treat them as ordinary frogs. There are mysteries inside them," answered Jane.
Justin raised his eyes and asked, "What's the mystery?"
Jane replied, "You'll see when you go home."
Justin muttered, "I don't even have a package."
"I'll send you a jar tomorrow."
Edward looked at Justin and said, "She has cooked you noodles and given you another gift, but what did you reciprocate? "
Justin lowered his eyes and pretended to be busy eating noodles. "Thank you."
Jane smiled and answered, "It's your birthday. You own the power today."
Holding a tray, someone came over and brought some new fruits and drinks. Jane didn't touch the wine but just had some drinks. Watching Justin finish his noodles, she took a chance and said, "Don't play too late, especially Justin, or you may get up too late tomorrow."
Hearing that, Justin asked keenly, "Are you leaving?"
Jane replied, "I can't stay up too late. I'll be sleepy when it's time."
Justin glanced at his phone. It was around eleven o'clock. He said, "Stay here until twelve o'clock."
"Why?" Asked Jane .
He answered, "It's still my birthday before twelve o'clock. As you said, on my birthday, I own the power."
Edward answered: "Don't make trouble. She'll go to work tomorrow though you don't need to."
Justin was rarely stubborn. "Just about 40 minutes."
He showed a strong retention, so Jane said: "It's not too late. You are the boss."
"Then just sit here and wait," answered Justin.
He got up to leave, while Jane was suspicious, especially when Henry mysteriously followed him, and repeatedly told her not to peep.
In the blink of an eye, the two little kids disappeared, leaving Jane and Edward on the sofa in the lounge area.
The kids were not easy to deal with, but they could still have some chats. While facing Edward, Jane felt challenged. Sitting with him only for three seconds, she felt like sitting on needles, regretting agreeing to stay.
Edward took the lead to break the silence, "Thank you for coming."
Jane immediately looked at him and said with a smile, "You're welcome, I just did what I should do."
Edward asked, "Did it affect your original schedule?"
Jane shook her head. "No."
Edward continued: "Justin really hopes you can come. But knowing that you have an appointment in advance, I didn't tell you because I was afraid that you would be in a dilemma."
"No wonder. I know it now, and I will remember it."
Edward replied: "He is more difficult to get on with, please pay more attention."
"He is not difficult to get along with, but just thinks more than his peers. In fact, it is very interesting to be with him, so is Henry."
"They seems to be against you, but keep saying nice things about you behind."
Jane smiled, "I know they are loyal to friends."
They sat alone in a place. The people in the hall were not blind. No one had Edward taken the initiative to show favor to. And before Jane came, he only smiled to Justin. But as soon as she came, he immediately offered to chat with her. One could be duplicitous, but his actions couldn't deceive people.
Seeing that it was almost twelve o'clock at night, some people greeted Edward and left. Vincent went to find Henry and wanted to take him away while Henry and Justin were busy in the kitchen. Finally, they succeeded to cook four dishes with a bowl of noodles. They happily called Jane and took her to the kitchen.
When Jane saw this, she was really surprised. Henry smiled and said, "Happy birthday."
Jane was even more confused, whose birthday was it?
Seeing her reaction, Justin couldn't help frowning and complaining, "It's after twelve o'clock, so now it's November 20th. Don't you even remember your own birthday?"
Jane's identity card showed it was November 20th, but she didn't celebrate her birthday on the solar calendar, so she didn't understand for a while.
Looking at the dishes and noodles on the table, Jane quickly showed an afterthought. "Yeah, I forgot it."
She couldn't have the heart to frustrate the two kids.
It was at this moment that Edward and Vincent knew it. On the one hand, they were kind of sad that neither of the two kids had ever cared so much about them. On the other hand, they looked as usual and said to Jane, "Happy birthday."
Jane smiled and replied, "Thank you. "
The people who should not stay here had already left, and there were only five of them left in the huge villa. Vincent simply opened a bottle of red wine to celebrate, no matter it was whose birthday, and no matter the lunar calendar.
Edward paid attention to Jane's expression. Seeing that she did not refuse to drink, he didn't help her to reject, either.
It turned out that Justin had already prepared well. He would like to celebrate their birthdays together. But Jane said that she had no time, so he had to hold it back secretly. However, he still prepared a gift for her-a small box, "Unwrap it when you arrive home."
Jane happily accepted it. Henry said, "I didn't bring the gift, and I'll give it to you tomorrow."
Jane smiled and replied, "Thank you, thank you for cooking for me today. I'm very happy."
Vincent said: "I didn't know it. I will send you the gift later."
"No, really no need..." Jane immediately answered.
She shook her head when she spoke, and her vision was a little blurry. But she recovered in a flash.
Before she came here, she drank a bottle of red wine in Aiden's party. But she was not drunk. While staying here, she just drank some beverages and took a sip of red wine. So she didn't know what happened.
Jane seemed to be fine as usual, thinking it was just an illusion. But half a minute later, she stood motionless and watched everyone shaking. She squeezed her hands, but she couldn't use any force.
Pretending to be fine, Jane said, "I'll go to the bathroom."
After she left, Edward said, "It's too late. Let's go home when she comes back. You can meet each other tomorrow if you want."
Justin and Henry nodded, but Jane was gone for ten minutes without being seen.
They were all men, embarrassed to call her, so they simply sat and waited. Twenty minutes passed, Edward raised his eyes and said, "Go and have a look."
Justin refused without thinking, "I won't do it. "
Henry was drowsy while waiting, so he couldn't be assigned the task. Finally, Edward himself got up and walked towards the bathroom.
In front of the door, he stood a few steps away and called, "Jane?"
There was no sound of water inside, so Edward walked forward and knocked on the door. "Jane?"
Still no answer, he tentatively pressed the door handle. It was unlocked. He opened the door and walked in.
There was no one in front of the washbasin, no one in the toilet, no one in the shower, and no one in the room as far as his eyes could see. Edward couldn't help but walked towards the bathtub behind the floor-to-ceiling curtain with hesitation.
The curtain being drawn, there was half a tank of water in the white bathtub and the faucet was not turned off. Jane knelt under the bathtub, with her hands on the edge and her head bowed, as if she was about to die.
He hurried over to pull her. "Jane!"
She was soft and hot, like a ball of hot cotton. Edward pulled her, and she fell softly towards him. Her face was full of water; fortunately, her eyes were still open. Her lips were slightly parted, and she was trembling as if she wanted to say something.
Edward was taken aback by her sudden change. Jane tried to raise her head, looking at him with half slack and half sober eyes. She slowly raised her hands and locked his waist...
