Chapter 137 Not Betrayed by Her
Jane stood, in a bathrobe, in the lounge drying her hair, and her clothes and pants had been taken out to be dried, but she had to keep wearing her wet underwear. For one thing, it was unsuitable to hand her underwear, something so private, to others; for another, others would not dry it for her.
Someone knocked on the door. Jane put down the hair drier and went to the door, seeing a female staffer, and the latter passed two bags to her with a smile and said, "You are Miss Cooper, right?"
"Yes."
"These are things the gentleman outside gives you."
Jane took them and found that there was a set of luxurious sportswear, including clothes, pants, and underwear, in a bag, and that there was a shoe box in the other.
Her first thought was that Justin and Henry would not buy underwear for her, so she looked up and asked, "Did the man who gives me these things tell you his family name?"
"No, but do you want me to ask about it for you?"
"No, thanks."
Jane had basically guessed who the man was.
She took off her wet underwear and put on the new. It felt a little strange. This was the first time a man had given her things so private, but she could not accuse him of having bad intentions. Instead, she could only say he was considerate.
The whole set of clothes fit, including the shoes. After changing her clothes, she walked out and looked around, seeing Edward checking his phone on the sofa not far away.
She walked to him and said, "Mr. Smith."
Edward was watching the video Justin had sent him. Hearing the voice, he subconsciously turned off his phone, raised his head, and calmly said, "Do they fit?"
Jane, in white sports clothing, nodded and said, "Just right for me, thank you."
Edward said, "Make do with them for now."
An attendant came over and put down a cup of hot milk, and Edward said, "Sit. I ordered it for you."
"Thanks, Mr. Smith."
Jane sat down and looked around before saying, "Where are Justin and Henry?"
Edward answered, "Gone downstairs to swim."
"Downstairs?" Jane was a little surprised. "Earlier, they said that there were too many people downstairs, and that the pool was not heated, so they were unwilling to go there."
Not even moving his eyelids, Edward said, "The two kids have too many bad habits spoiled children have. You usually don't have to give them too much unnecessary freedom. You spoiled them so much that they got the guts to bully you."
Jane muttered in her mind, "The two children have been living a wealthy life since they were born. How do I have to spoil them?"
She put a smile on her face. "I was careless today. A moment's inattention."
Edward did not respond to it, and Jane picked up the cup and took a sip of the hot milk. Although the heated swimming pool was not cold, she had been in the water for about twenty minutes and wearing her wet underwear for a long time. Therefore, she had been feeling a little cold, wishing to ask for a cup of hot water, but she had not had time.
Edward was so thoughtful, at least more thoughtful than she imagined.
"Can you play tennis?"
Jane, who had her eyes lowered, suddenly heard Edward's question, looked up at him, and finally answered after a few moments, "I can, but not well."
Edward said, "After you drink it up, let's go downstairs and play a few rounds."
Not asking why he was free today, Jane simply nodded. "Yes."
There were indoor and outdoor tennis courts here. Edward chose an indoor court, and Jane walked in with him. To her surprise, Charles and Aaron were in the court next door.
When their eyes met, Jane waved to greet the two friends. By taking the chance of drinking water, Charles asked Aaron next to him, "Do Jane and Edward have a close relationship?"
Aaron answered, "She brought the two children here, but I don't know why Edward also came."
Charles said, "You are close friends. When you are free, tell her to keep a distance from him."
Aaron said, "Don't worry. She is doing this probably not out of her own will. You worry that she stays too close to Edward, but I think you should worry about her real condition: she keeps a distance from men like a nun."
Charles said, "She likes women?"
Aaron muttered sarcastically in his mind, "Guess what? She likes men!"
Charles asked, "You don't discriminate against those with different sexual orientations, do you?"
Aaron answered with a smile, "Now people can marry whoever they like, let alone only have a relationship. If you say you like men, I'll also congratulate you. Being happy is everything."
Aaron was overjoyed. "Then do you like men or women?"
Charles raised his eyes and said, "You dare to fish for the information about your boss's private affairs, eh?"
Aaron replied, "Now we are not in the office. At most, I'm asking about my elder school follow's hobby."
Charles threw the towel he had used to clean his face to Aaron's body. "Beat me in the next round first."
Charles turned around to walk to the court, and Aaron instantly exchanged his towel with Charles's, putting the latter's towel on his own spot.
Aaron had loved Charles for years, pursuing him all the time. It sounded like he had been chasing after Charles, but he had just met him only a few times, which meant that he had been thinking about the man one-sidedly. Now they were finally together, and they had gradually had some exchanges. For Jane, she really could not help but peek at them.
The two men were next door, and there was not even a net between the two courts. From time to time, she would glance at the other court, thinking she was careful. Yet, when they came to rest at the interval, Edward seemed to ask unintentionally, "Which one of the two are you looking at?"
Jane looked at Edward, but Edward did not look at her, saying, "Your eyes have almost flown over."
Jane gave an embarrassed smile. "So obvious?"
Edward took a few sips of water. "If you had looked at them a few times less, you wouldn't have performed so poorly."
Jane gave up on covering it up, but forced a smile, which was what she could only do.
Not wishing to let her off, Edward said sardonically, "He says he has someone he likes. It seems really like that. You claim that you and he are just colleagues, but that doesn't seem convincing."
After hearing it, Jane realized that Edward obviously suspected she loved Aaron secretly, so she shook her head and said with sincere eyes, "There's truly nothing between us."
She was afraid that he would then ask, "What are you looking at then?"
But after a pause, Edward suddenly said, "Your colleague likes men?"
Jane was silent.
She was shocked. How could there be a person so smart as Edward in this world? She had not said anything yet, she swore.
She even wanted to shield Aaron's sexual orientation by dragging herself into it, but she only had time to take a breath. Before she could open her mouth, Edward said calmly, "Got it."
Stubbornly wishing to find it out, Jane whispered, "What did you get?"
Edward answered, "The man he likes is playing tennis with him."
Jane was astonished to the bone.
As for Aaron's sexual orientation, Edward did not think it was a thing, but it did not mean that it could be spread here and there. Therefore, only a few people knew it in the past years. And all the people knowing it were silent about it.
Besides, Aaron was so manly, and a lot of young girls pursued him. Although now he still did not have a girlfriend, no one would suspect he was gay, so Jane wondered, "How did Edward find it out?"
Edward glanced at the silent Jane and asked, "Want to know how I found it out?"
Jane nodded uncontrollably.
Edward explained, "You betrayed him."
Jane stared at him a little sulkily, "What did you say?"
Edward said, "You are not so interested in others or their affairs, but just now, you even wished to take out your eyeballs and sent them over. If you are not interested in one of them, you must be so interested in the thing between them."
Jane said without blinking, "Got it, but I'm actually interested in one of them." She dragged herself into it to cover it up.
Expressionless, Edward lowered his voice and said with some ridicule and threat, "It's so risky to like a man's man. You'll lose your friend, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that you'll probably be beaten and get seriously wounded... Fighting a woman is an exercise, but if you fight a man, you'll end up with broken bones."
