Chapter 135 She Fell into the Swimming Pool
After answering Ken's call, Jane was still a little worried. If she was driven crazy, Beth might go to extremes, coming to her to make a scene. Yet, nothing had happened in the past days so that even the company staff had peacefully accepted the "fact" that she had a powerful backer. They just pretended that the beating incident had never happened.
Jane had heard the news from Jennifer that Beth was said to have gone abroad.
Would Beth swallow the insult quietly? Jane did not believe it. Instead, she thought that something must have happened behind the scenes. Of course, she did not have magical eyes, so she could not see Ken speak to Beth like this: "If you ever dare to offend Jane again, I'll kill you before you realize how I did it."
Nor could she see that the Brown family told this to Edward's grandfather, hoping to downplay it. Of course, Edward promised that he would no longer ask about it, on the condition that he did not want to see Beth in S City anymore.
Therefore, Beth had been forced to leave because of the general situation. In this city, she could not beat Ken, and she was even less likely to dare to offend Edward. If she offended the two villains at the same time, she would have to face serious consequences.
On the weekend, Jane asked Justin and Henry to visit the outdoor sports center in the suburbs of the city with her. It was not that she suddenly felt playing soccer was uninteresting, but that one was lacking in the four-person game. The person was Aaron, who had changed his mind and asked Charles to play tennis with him.
Aaron had gone to Charles very early and headed for the tennis court with him, leaving the car to Jane. Jane drove the two boys sitting in the back seats there, but she found something was wrong when they arrived in the downtown area. While she was driving away from the city, she felt something was getting more wrong because she saw three cars, a Benz and two BMWs, trailing not far behind them.
She asked, "Do you guys know the car behind us?"
Henry looked back and said, "The Benz is my family's car."
Lowering his head to play a game, Justin said, "The one with the 001 license plate is my family's."
Jane asked, "Then to which family does the 023 car belong?"
Justin answered, "Also my family's."
Jane asked again, "You family sent out two cars to protect you?"
Justin asked in reply, "That is the car Uncle Edward assigned to protect you, isn't it?"
Jane was slightly stunned, but then she remembered that Edward had told her before. This was a troubled time, and the families had sent their men to follow them. She had never found that she was followed, and this was her first time. Of course, those after them had not tried to hide.
She joked with a smile, "My car is quite valuable. If I kidnap you two, I'll at least get tens of billions."
Henry said, "I'm not my father's only child, so I'm not as valuable as Justin."
Justin said, "If you're not afraid Henry eat like a horse, just kidnap him."
Hearing it, Henry slowly looked sideways, but Jane said with a smile, "If I am an evil woman, I won't feed you guys with nice food and drinks, will I?"
Henry leaned against the back of his seat and lazily said, "Now I really want you to kidnap me. I like every weekend most. I'm so bored during the other days."
Jane said, "Learn from Justin. Raise a pet to uplift your spirit and mind."
Henry said with disdain, "Only a child wants to be a zoo director."
The zoo director, who happened to have failed a round in the game, looked up and said, "Don't criticize what you can't get!"
Henry said with a faint smile, "You like it, but it doesn't mean all others like it. Even if it is something good, I don't want it!"
Justin retorted, "I know what you like. You like things that make you fat, such as fried foods, fast food, barbecue, hotchpotch…" He counted the varieties of food with his fingers to provoke Henry.
Jane glanced at the rear-view mirror and saw that the dark-faced Henry was thinking about how to retort, so she cut in with a different subject, "What sports are you guys good at? This is a long journey for us. Don't think about going back until you've had a lot of sweat!"
Justin said, "You people decide. I'm okay with any decision made."
Jane asked jokingly, "Hey, a all-around player?"
Henry challenged Justin sulkily, "Going to swim? I'll let you start half a lane ahead of me."
Justin twitched his mouth imperceptibly, withhis eyes expression being so much like Edward's for an instant. "No! If we compete like that, even if I win, I won't have honor."
Henry said, "Your arms and legs are thin, and you're short. I won't bully a little child."
But Justin said, "You have to swim with so much fat. Your life is not easy. Don't try to act like someone strong!"
The two boys were in a war of words in the back seats, but Jane enjoyed herself hearing their dispute. Then the journey was not that boring.
When they arrived, Henry went to the reception desk to ask if they could have a private swimming room. After getting a sure answer, he took out his wallet, ready to swipe his card, but Jane came and said, "Let me do it."
Henry said, "Every time we hang out, you pay for our expenses. Let me pay for you guys' this time."
Jane whispered, "Don't make me look bad. After all, I'm an adult."
She had always used this excuse to pay the bill, but Justin said, "You'll soon be the shortest among the three of us. If we always let you pay the bill, we'll be gigolos, won't we?"
Jane frowned a bit, hoping to tell him that he had used an improper word, but this was not the right place. Anyway, the smiling receptionist was waiting for them to pay the bill.
Jane turned around and stretched out her hands. "The old way."
The old way was that when the three of them had different views, they should let God decide.
Justin disliked it very much, and Henry also wanted to say it was so unnecessary, but they had to reach out their hands when seeing Jane's insistent eyes.
"One, two, three…"
Both Henry and Justin showed the Rock gesture, but Jane showed Paper. Jane immediately smiled, turned around, took out her wallet with pride, and swiped her card.
Going to swim was a temporary decision, so Henry and Justin bought their swim trunks and goggles in this place. But Jane didn't buy anything, and Henry asked, "Have you brought yours?"
Jane said, "I can't swim."
Justin tilted his head with somewhat surprised eyes, "Is there anything you can't do?"
Jane put a smile on her face. "Oh, I'm so brilliant in your heart."
But Justin said calmly, "Uncle Edward even wants you to teach me Sanda."
Her smile instantly froze. "Edward just chatted with me about it, didn't he? But why did he discuss it with Justin in private?" she thought.
Henry said, "You can't swim, then we won't swim. Let's do something else."
Jane said, "It's okay. I'll watch you two swim. I'll be your referee."
Justin said, "You can buy a swimsuit. I'll teach you."
Jane shook her head, and he asked, "You don't trust me?"
Jane answered, "I just want to remain a non-swimmer."
Justin asked suspiciously, "You are afraid of water?"
Jane answered, "I'm afraid that if I can do everything, God will be jealous."
Justin rolled his eyes and left.
In the private heated swimming pool upstairs, Jane stood a few meters away from the swimming pool. Looking at the fat boy and the thin one in it, she was much relieved. Henry and Justin were both very good swimmers.
After watching them for a while, thinking that nothing would happen to them, she walked to the deck chair on the edge of the swimming pool, took out her tablet, and logged into Forward Education's platform to give the students free lessons.
About half an hour later, she suddenly heard Henry cry out, "Justin!"
She immediately looked up, but only saw Henry's head on the water surface. In a panic, she instantly put her tablet aside and rushed to the swimming pool. "Where's Justin?"
When she came to the pool, she saw Justin holding his legs under the water. It seemed that he had convulsed. Henry said, "I have no strength. You pull him up."
Henry was pushing Justin up from under, and Jane knelt down and reached out to pull Justin. Holding Justin's hand, she was about to pull him when she felt great strength pulling her down.
"Crash!" She fell with her head down into the pool.
