Chapter 13 Decent on the Outside, Sad on the Back

Chapter 13 Decent on the Outside, Sad on the Back
Edward went downstairs in his bathrobe after taking a bath. Sam handed him a glass of ice-cold juice as usual. He took a sip and asked casually, "Is there anything wrong upstairs?"
Sam responded, "No, it's pretty quiet."
Sitting on the sofa, Edward said calmly, "Did she faint from fright?"
Sam, who was standing by the side, replied aloud, "It shouldn't be. In the past, if the tutor fainted from fright, the young master would call us in."
Edward didn't speak again. After preparing some desserts for him, Sam silently left to work. As the minutes passed, Edward would occasionally glance at his phone. More than forty minutes later, it was still quiet upstairs.
He didn't kown it was expected or unexpected, but he just thought she had broken the record.
Originally, he had something to do. But as the waiting time got longer, he suddenly wanted to know the final result. Could she stay upstairs for a hundred minutes?
After Justin opened the bedroom door, Jane came out. Everyone in the family looked and observed her politely, signing that she was the first hero to survive in a long time. There was more to her than appearances suggest.
After coming downstairs, Jane saw Edward sitting on the sofa looking at the laptop. She greeted, "Mr. Smith."
Edward raised his head and said as usual, "Is the class over?"
Jane smiled and nodded, "Yes."
Edward who didn't show his feelings on his face didn't kown Jane was real happy or just pretended to be.
Edward said calmly, "Let's have a meal together."
Jane said, "Thank you for your invitation. But I don't want to waste your time. Besides, I still have other work to do."
Edward said, "You're welcome. I also want to talk to you about Justin's studies. And I heard you've been coming to Forward Education for a month. But so far, you've only signed this order. I'm afraid you won't have anything else to do when you go back except chores. "
Jane couldn't argue with his outspokenness. She immediately raised a smile to cover up her true feelings and replied, "Then I will take up more of your time."
After letting the maid ask Justin to go downstairs for dinner, Edward went back and changed his clothes. A few minutes later, only the three of them sat at the long dining table. The servants served many dishes one after another. Sam said, "Miss Cooper, we are not familiar with your taste. So if you have something you want to eat, I can call the kitchen to prepare it right away."
Jane responded politely, "Thank you. I'm not picky about food. These dishes are enough."
Hearing this, Sam nodded and left. Jane sat face to face with Justin. They both observed each other without a trace. Edward, who was sitting in the main seat, picked up his chopsticks and said, "Miss Cooper, make yourself at home. These are just common meals."
After hearing this, Justin began to eat. Jane thought to herself that the Smith family still had a lot of rules, regardless of their children's upbringing.
Jane, who was always smiling, said, "Thank you Mr. Smith for your hospitality."
After eating silently for a while, Edward was the first to break the silence and asked, "How was the class today?"
Justin straightened his back and looked down, eating in a decent manner. Seeing this, Jane smiled and said, "I think it's not bad. Justin is very cooperative with me."
Edward glanced at Justin and asked, "How about you? How is Miss Cooper?"
Swallowing the food in his mouth, Justin said blankly, "Except for superstition, others are fine."
Without looking at Jane, Edward asked, "Superstition?"
Justin said, "She likes to talk about this kind of things."

Jane sighed that he really held a grudge. She didn't even think about complaining, but he slammed it first. Her mind was already spinning fast, thinking about the next second Edward asked her how she would respond. Unexpectedly, Edward said without changing his face: "Do you believe it?"
"I'm not a three-year-old," Justin said.
Edward said, "It's good to know. Adults like to gossip. But that doesn't mean they're ghosts. And it's nothing to do with superstition."
Justin made a 'um', showing understanding.
With their natural expressions, the two of them seem to have long been accustomed to such an 'education' model.
But Jane felt like she was stuck in her throat. What did nonsense mean? It was better to say that she was superstitious!
"Since the two of you are all right, we will have six classes a week from now on. Except for Sunday, the rest will be at this time."
Edward made a direct decision. Jane looked up and asked, "Six classes a week?"
Edward looked at her, "Have no time?"
Jane smiled and said, "Of course not. I'm afraid Justin will find it a little hard."
"Then let him get used to the frequency as soon as possible," Edward said.
Jane was indifferent to this decision. Not only was she indifferent, she was also very happy. After all, she was making money.
Jane, who was so happy in her heart, looked calm as a teacher and said aloud, "Okay. I'll cheer with Justin."
Justin was noncommittal. They continued their silent lunch. Before coming to S City, Jane spent six years in Y City, ten years in H City, and a whole childhood in D City. The unifying feature of these three local cuisines was the heavy taste, which was either salty or spicy. The local taste of Shencheng was very light. Because of its proximity to the sea, the city had a lot of seafood. Since Jane didn't like seafood very much, so it was not surprising that she eats less. But the strange thing was that Edward and Justin didn't eat much either.
After the meal, Jane was going back to the city. It just so happened that Edward had something to go and said he would drop her off. Jane politely declined him. She doesn't know yet whether the Insurance and Housing Fund the company bought her has taken effect. Therefore, she did not dare to take the car of "Mr. Grim Reaper". He was not afraid of death because of his nickname. But she dared not take the risk.
Guessing what she was thinking, Edward didn't say what she was thinking. He just asked the driver to take her back. Jane agreed after being polite. After all, walking back from here, she might not be able to go back for a few hours.
After the driver dropped Jane somewhere in the city, Jane did not return directly to Forward Education. She called a taxi and said, "Please take me to the nearest hospital or CDC. That's where you can get all kinds of vaccines."
The driver glanced at Jane in the rearview mirror. Hearing the determination and urgency in her tone, the driver couldn't help but ask worriedly, "Bitten by a dog?"
Looking at the frightened driver, Jane comforted, "Don't be afraid. I'm not bitten by a dog and I don't want to get sick. I just want to take precautions."
Twenty minutes later, Jane appeared at the door of the hospital. After finding the relevant department, she sat down and said to the doctor, "Excuse me, I want to be vaccinated against rabies. I'm afraid of being bitten by the dog at home."
The doctor who was busy with other things didn't panic when he heard that she was not bitten. Then, Jane asked, "Doctor, if I have cold-blooded animals at home, what vaccines do I need?"
The doctor replied, "Cold-blooded animals? Don't need to be vaccinated."
Jane asked again, "What about small animals like squirrels and chinchillas?"
The doctor couldn't help but turn around and looked at Jane and said, "Are you running a zoo at home?"
Jane was speechless. She replayed in her head the image of her sitting face to face with Justin that he stared at her for a few seconds and then suddenly said, "Miss Cooper, you're sitting on my squirrel!"
This was the first time in her life that she has seen a squirrel outside of the cartoon, whose tail was not as big as she imagined.
