Chapter 204 Her Trap
They drove home and parked the car in the underground parking lot. Edward and Jane got out of the car. Edward was still carrying all the bags and Jane walked beside him. They walked straightly towards the elevator and didn't see a woman in a red sports car was secretly shooting on them.
The woman didn't stop until Edward and Jane were completely gone, then she swiped on her WhatsApp and sent all the photos to someone along with a voice message, "Linda, look, Edward is going home with Jane!"
What she didn't know was that they were not going to Jane's home, but to Edward's place.
Edward and Jane returned 202 Building 1. Edward got the key to open the door. Justin Smith, who was in the kitchen, heard the sound and couldn't help to walk out and check. When he saw these two familiar figures, he asked surprisingly, "Uncle Edward, how did you guys come together?"
Edward didn't answer, instead, he walked straight in and asked, "There were no dishes or plates here. Are you gonna eat with the pan?"
He didn't have a plan with Jane, but both of them were like one mind. Justin knew he was not gonna win and changed the topic, "I've got the ingredients ready."
Jane said, "Great. I'll cook."
Jane took off her coat and went into the kitchen, then Justin walked out. Edward was sitting on the sofa, smoking. Justin sat beside him, exhausted, his milk pressed against his chest so that he could drink it whenever he wanted without any work.
Edward saw Justin's behavior and turned to him, "Are you just going to wait for the food? Go in there and help out."
Justin raised his eyelid and said, "I have done the grocery shopping and washed all the vegetable."
His implication was Edward didn't do anything and was waiting too.
Edward said, "I knew nothing in the kitchen."
Justin replied, "I didn't know too, but you can always learn."
Edward said, "It was you who invited her over."
Justin said, "She lost the bet. She was just paying her bet. "
Edward frowned a little bit and pushed Justin in a low voice, "Skip all the crap, go in there."
Justin stood up and said, "I need a shower. Those garlic smell is growing on me. If you want to give me a lesson, at least you should do it yourself."
Justin was not afraid of Edward, especially when Edward was not confident enough. It was quite obvious that it was Edward who wanted to go inside the kitchen and help out, but he pretended to ask someone else to do it. Justin would not be the free helper here. Since all of them are going to share the food, they should share the work too. That was also what Jane said.
Justin went for his shower. In the living room, there was only Edward left who could see a figure busily cooking in the lighten-up kitchen through the glass door. He thought for a minute, then he stood up and walked to the door of the kitchen.
Jane heard the door was pulled open and turned around to see Edward standing there and asking, "Need a hand?"
Edward thought Jane would definitely say "No", but instead, she said, "Could you please wash the dishes and plates that we just bought?"
Edward had underestimated Jane. She was being nice most of the time, but that didn't mean she was a pushover who would do all the work by herself. Actually, she was not a pushover, she was like a chili pepper. Justin was only 13 years old after this year's birthday and she asked him to prepare the ingredients. Henry Perez was a little bit older and he was fond of kitchen stuff, so he was almost the second-in-command in the kitchen and could cook now.
Same line still made sense. If everybody was gonna share the food, then no one should get it for free.
Edward had a nice plan to just being polite. However, Jane didn't let him have it.
So Edward had to step into the kitchen.
The newly-bought dishes were stacked out there. Edward stood beside the sink and started impassively rolling his sleeves. Someone would think he must be going to kill a fish or something.
Jane was doing some chopping and didn't turn around, she said casually, "There are aprons on your left and there was a pair of new gloves on the window."
Edward had never worn an apron in his life. An apron was like a woman skirt, only a woman would wear this thing. He unconsciously glanced at Jane and saw she was wearing a white one. It was simple, made of linen. It was such a regular apron but it looked some kind pretty...The thing was...Her waist was so thin, as if he could wrap it with his two hands.
Edward turned away and grabbed a black apron which was the same pattern as the one Jane was wearing from the wall. He put on the apron and the gloves, then he got a bowl, glanced at the sink for dish washing and pressed a button.
Washing dishes, it couldn't be hard.
Jane was chopping on the board with a good rhythm while Edward was washing dishes quietly like he was doing embroidery. Jane had a look at him during the process and saw Edward was applying dish soap on each plate, rinsing each one under the water and then wipe each one with a dry towel. Anyone unknown of the situation would think he was wiping antiques.
Jane wanted to teach him how to wash the dishes faster, but on second thought, unlike Justin and Henry, Edward was a grown-up. There was no need to teach him anything. He could do anything he liked. It might be one of his hobbies.
The two of them were focusing on their own business. After he finished a pile of dishes, Edward took off the gloves and turned around to find Jane was slicing on a big fish, fast and smooth.
Edward started, "Whom did you learn cooking from?"
Jane answered, "My auntie."
Edward said, "Your auntie doesn't look like one who could cook." And he added, "neither do you."
Jane replied, "So you mean pretty disastrous women don't seem be able to cook."
Edward didn't expect Jane would still remember this one and said, "Don't gloat up. I said you were a pretty disastrous woman only because there were no one to compare with."
Jane replied, "I live on my ability."
A glare of smile passed over Edward's eyes, "If I didn't remember it wrong, then you are worse than me at sudoku."
Jane put the prepared fish into a bowl of starch and patted on it. She calmly replied, "I graduated from college and I am a master."
Edward stared at her, "What do you mean? Are you making fun of me not graduating from my college?"
Jane instantly turned around and said in a very insincere tone, "No way. You are not graduated from Oxford University, that sounds super cool. "
Edward saw nothing cool from her eyes, but only amusement.
He stayed silent for a moment and then said, "You are a master, but still you have to work for me, a person who has not graduated from college."
Jane seemed paid no attention to his words and said, "Can you do me a favor?"
Edward walked closer. Jane took the starch-wrapped fish out and asked him to hold the fish head. Edward tried to resist, "Why?"
Jane said, 'To make it relaxed. It will taste better this way."
Edward was speechless. Jane added, "Are you afraid of fishes?"
Edward was certainly not afraid, he grabbed the fished and took the fish over.
Jane poured oil into the wok until it was full. Then she chopped some garlic, made the sauce, prepared the plate while Edward stood still beside her. He didn't know what he could do and it was awful to look at.
After the oil got hot enough, Jane took the fish over and put it into the wok, then she said, "What were we talking?"
"Eh?" Edward walked to the sink to wash his hands and his head was filled with the dead fish.
Jane continued anyway, "I am a master and work for you. You are the client, but weren't you working for me just me?"
Edward stunned. Was Jane doing this to him on purpose?
