Chapter 53: Called Her In The Middle Of The Night
Jane called Jennifer when she got home. She thought Jennifer was still angry about what had happened at the party, but she had been thinking about Edward and Ken, saying that it was the first time she had met them. Meanwhile, this experience was enough for her to boast for the rest of her life.
Jane said, "Why don't you work as a private teacher as well? I'll introduce you to Ken."
Jennifer immediately said, "No! I'd better keep a distance from him. We're not from the same world, and I can't be friends with him."
Jane said casually, "Edward introduced me to a new client. I'll coach Vincent's younger brother in physics."
Jennifer's jaw dropped. She remained silent for a few seconds and then said seriously, "You've met the three evilest people in S City. I think you'll be lucky enough to win the lottery first prize."
Jane said, "Don't forget to buy insurance for me because working with them is dangerous."
She went into the bathroom, put Jennifer on the speakerphone, and chatted with her. When she came out, it was eleven forty at night. Jennifer said, "Hurry up and go to bed. You're under great pressure all day long. If I were you, I would have had a nervous breakdown."
Jane had a big heart and she wouldn't have a nervous breakdown, but she had to admit that since she knew Edward, her life had completely changed. She felt she was like a spy of the Smith family. She had known Ken, Beth, and Vincent...
Lying on the bed and closing her eyes, Jane wanted to stop thinking and fall asleep. However, her mind was a mess.
"Isn't red wine made of grapes?"
"Did you especially choose the right grapes for me?"
Thinking about Edward's words for no reason, Jane burst into laughter... Perhaps it was because she attended two parties that night, she was incredibly hyper. She tossed and turned for a long time before falling asleep in a daze.
The phone at the bedside table vibrated continuously. In a trance, Jane thought it was the alarm clock ringing. She opened her eyes with difficulty. The room was still dark and it was not dawn. When she picked up the phone, she saw Edward's name on the screen.
Jane answered it, "Hello? Mr. Smith."
Although she had cleared her throat, her voice was sleepy and soft.
His low and deep voice came from the phone, "Are you home?"
"Huh?"
Jane was confused.
Edward asked again, "Have you got home?"
Jane replied in a daze, "Yeah, I got home a few hours ago."
Edward answered in a very low voice and hung up without saying anything else.
Jane looked at the time on the screen. It was three fifty-eight in the morning. Jane sat on the bed, and she was no longer drowsy because of the phone call. Was she having a dream or was Edward having a dream? It had been four or five hours since she came home, but he called her at this time... He must be dead drunk.
Thinking like this, she remembered his fun question. "Did you specifically choose the right grape for me?"
A smile appeared on her expressionless face instantly. She laughed and lay down again. It was harder for her to fall asleep, and she kept awake till dawn.
She got up early to clock in at the company and then went to the Smith family on time. Seeing that Justin was deep in sleep under the quilt, Jane was jealous. He was indeed young. Moreover, why did Edward wake her up in the middle of the night instead of waking up his nephew?
Jane called his name a few times, but he didn't move. She stood by the bed and sang expressionlessly. Soon, Justin stretched out on the bed and complained, "You should apply for Guinness World Records, the worst singer in the world."

Jane said, "At least my voice is pleasant."
Justin lifted the quilt and said, "Who says your voice is pleasant?"
Jane said truthfully, "Many people praise me that I must be a good singer."
Justin opened his eyes and sneered, "There are always ignorant people. Don't you know that people can't be judged by their looks?"
Jane said, "Yes, you look like an out-going boy who goes to bed early and gets up early. Who knows that you're too lazy to get out of bed?"
Justin lay down and said, "Lucky had a baby last night. I had been watching her."
Jane asked, "Who's Lucky?"
Justin said, "The brown alpaca." Jane didn't even know this, and he looked dissatisfied.
Jane once saw the backyard of the villa by the window. The backyard was much larger than the front yard. Well, it should be a park. There were artificial hills, a fountain, flower beds, fish ponds, and lots of cats and dogs. She once saw horses there. It was normal for him to have an alpaca.
She said casually, "Didn't Edward urge you to go to bed early?"
In short, she was still mad because Edward woke her up in the middle of the night.
Justin said, "He was not home last night."
After that, he looked at Jane with vigilance in his eyes, "You ask about Uncle Edward again."
Jane didn't sleep well last night. With a helpless face, she said calmly, "I know where he is."
Justin didn't believe her. Jane said, "Yesterday was his friend's birthday. He drank much. It seems that he stayed there to have a rest."
Justin asked, "How do you know that?"
Jane said, "The new client Edward introduced to me is the one who held the birthday party last night."
Justin paused and then said, "Are you going to teach Henry?"
Jane asked, "Do you know him?"
Justin said in an earnest tone, "He is not easy to deal with. If you teach him, you'll be troubled a lot."
Jane couldn't help laughing because Edward looked like Edward when he spoke.
"I'm serious. Why are you laughing?"
Jane said, "Do you think it's very easy to deal with you?"
Justin froze for a moment. Then he reacted and said with a frown, "Why do you say so? Tell me! If you don't tell me the reason, I won't get up!"
Jane nodded perfunctorily, "You look so obedient right now."
......
Justin didn't want to get up. In the end, Jane promised she would accompany him to the backyard to see Lucky's baby during the break, and he got out of bed reluctantly.
Jane had worked in the Smith family for half a month. No matter how naughty Justin was, they had reached a tacit agreement. He could be naughty after class, but he had to listen to her in class.
She taught well, and it was not boring. Justin was smart, so they wouldn't feel anything except hunger after two classes.
They went downstairs for lunch. When they walked to the living room, they heard Sam's voice. "Mr. Smith."
Jane looked over and saw a familiar figure at the door of the villa. It was Edward. He was wearing the clothes he wore last night.
"Uncle Edward." Justin greeted him.
Edward looked over, and Jane said, "Hello, Mr. Smith."
Edward walked inside. Sam asked, "Do you want to have lunch now?"
Edward said, "Just prepare a cake for me."
Sam turned to the kitchen. Edward walked closer and closer to Jane. With sharp eyes, Jane saw a red mark on his shirt. Her heart sank. At first, she thought it was blood.
Did he fight again?
No, who would annoy him at the party last night?
Jane thought about Amy and stole another glance at him. The red mark was on his collar. If he buttoned the collar, it couldn't be seen, and a woman could kiss his collar as long as she raised her head. It was... a lipstick mark.
