Chapter 218 Finally Went To Her House
Something happened in the company early in the morning, so Jane informed Justin and didn't go to teach him, and the classes in the afternoon were cancelled.
Charles called all the employees in the company and held a collective meeting. In general, the collective meeting would only be held at the beginning and end of the year, as well as some special moments.
At the meeting, Charles lost his temper with his face darkened and scolded the behavior of secretly leaking the photos. He also said that Edward reserved the right to pursue this matter further, and the company would investigate this matter strictly and thoroughly.
"The whole company faces the risk of being complained about and prosecuted by clients because of some people's personal behaviors. You don't need me to tell you how serious this matter is. Today is Friday. I give you two days. If you contact me within these two days and admit your mistake, I will consider giving you a lighter punishment. If I find out who you are on Monday but you haven't apologized, I must tell you bluntly that you'll be fired. Forward Education doesn't need such an employee who has bad conduct. No matter who you are, you'll be fired, and you won't be employed again."
Charles was very busy in ordinary times. He seldom stayed in the company and always flew to other cities. Sofia was basically in charge of the company. Everyone felt that Sofia was strict and difficult to get along with. However, at this time, they felt that Charles was sterner. The tone in his voice brooked no argument.
Everyone had different expressions on their faces, and the huge conference room was silent.
Charles sat on the seat of honor and continued after a moment of silence, "Sofia, I asked you to inform everyone that the photos must not be leaked. How did you convey them?"
Sofia sat next to Charles. She had been depressed. When Charles asked her in public, her body trembled subconsciously. She reacted slowly, raised her head, and said, "I told them exactly what you said."
Charles looked at her and asked, "When did you convey them after I reminded you?"
Sofia's face became completely pale. A few seconds later, she said, "I had a few urgent things to deal with at that time..."
Charles looked serious and said, "What things can be more important than the privacy of our client and the image of our staff?"
Sofia couldn't defend herself. She looked down slightly and said, "Sorry, I didn't handle it well."
Charles turned his head and looked at the people below, "Although Sofia didn't inform you in time, you couldn't use it as an excuse to spread gossip. You are the talents selected by the company. Forward Education is happy and even privileged because of you. You don't need me to tell you how wonderful the welfare and treatment in Forward Education are. The company never treats you badly. I didn't expect that when something bad happened, the first thing you did was not to present a united front, but to laugh at others."
"Now things are worse. The rumor has provoked much discussion among people, and the client is very angry. I'm reflecting on myself. Why can't I even protect the basic rights and interests of my employees? If I can't figure out this matter, I can't explain it to the head office. Since someone made things difficult for me first, don't blame me for ignoring our colleague friendship."
Charles looked kindhearted in ordinary times, but he spoke sternly. Those who spread the photos behind his back became very uneasy. Those who watched the show and made sarcastic comments had lingering fear, too. Fortunately, they just made some mean comments and didn't spread the photos.
The meeting didn't last long. Charles's speech was concise and comprehensive. He mocked and reminded those people who had impure intentions. As for the rest of the people, how they felt depended on their psychological quality.
The meeting was over, and everyone rushed out. Jane didn't have classes in the afternoon, so she wanted to go back earlier. Aaron had classes, and they went out together.
On the way, Aaron couldn't help but say, "Charles is indeed the man I like. He's domineering. In my heart, he's like a six-feet tall man."
Jane said, "Don't say this in front of him. He will think you are mocking his height."
Aaron said, "He's short, but so what? He's short, but he's excellent. Those who are taller than him could only sit there in fear and listen to him."
Jane sighed, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
Aaron said, "No one can compare with him. Charles is the best man in the world."
Jane said, "Yes, you don't like women."
Downstairs, Aaron asked, "You don't need me to send you home, do you?"
Jane rolled her eyes at him speechlessly. Aaron smiled and said, "That's right. Two gangsters can't even do anything to you at night, not to mention that it's the daytime."
Jane carried self-defense tools with her. In the past, she almost gave Aaron an electric shock.
Jane said, "Hurry up and leave. Why do you talk so much nonsense?"
Aaron smiled and waved his hand, "Bye."
Jane was left. She went to the nearby supermarket and bought several bags of things home. When she got home, she called Justin.
Justin answered it quickly. She asked, "Where are you?"
"At home."
"In the Rhine Garden?"
"Yeah."
"I'm free in the afternoon. I'll teach you the two classes that you should have had in the morning. Do you want to come here? Or do you want me to go to Rhine Garden?"
Justin said, "I'll go to your place."
"Okay, I'll wait for you."
After hanging up, Jane hesitated for a moment before searching for Edward's number and calling him.
After three beeping sounds, a familiar low male voice came from the phone. "Hello?"
Jane immediately said, "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry to bother you. Are you free tonight?"
Edward asked, "What's the matter?"
Jane said, "Thank you for helping me today. I'll cook at home in the evening. If you're free, I'd like to invite you to a casual meal."
Edward hesitated for a moment and asked, "When will you have dinner?"
Jane said, "I called Justin just now. We have two classes in the afternoon. We'll have dinner about eight o'clock."
Edward answered her neither warmly nor coldly, "Well, I should have time."
Jane asked, "Is there anything special you want to eat? I'll prepare it in advance."
She couldn't see the expression on Edward's face, but his tone was casual. "Cook as you see fit."
Jane was afraid of disturbing Edward, so she replied simply, "Okay. Then I won't bother you anymore."
After hanging up the phone, Jane secretly breathed a sigh of relief. It was the first time she had taken the initiative to invite a man to dinner at home. If Justin wouldn't come here, she would have invited Edward to a restaurant. But after thinking about it carefully, she felt that it was sincerer to cook a table of food by herself. She knew how to cook. Justin once mentioned accidentally that Edward ate all the sour-sweet fish she cooked last time.
She specially bought two fish this day, and she would use one of them to make sour-sweet fish.
At the same time, as soon as Edward hung up the phone, Vincent asked opposite him, "Who was it?"
"It's none of your business."
"Who will cook for you?" Vincent asked.
Edward said, "Remember who you are. I'm not your husband, and I don't have to report everything to you."
Vincent smiled and replied to him, "It seems that a woman called you... Who was she? Jane?"
Edward lit a cigarette and didn't say yes or no. Vincent said with great interest, "No wonder you were willing to carry things for her behind her. It turns out that gifts blind your eyes."
Edward blew some smoke and restrained himself.
However, Vincent never stopped before going too far. He said teasingly, "Hey, tell me. What happened on the basketball court?"
Edward lifted his head, and his eyes were as sharp as a saber.
