Chapter 228 The Most Advanced Form of Borrowing a Knife to Kill
Audrey knew she could not save herself today. So she refused to leave. All the people in the private room stared at each other. Linda finally got up and said, "Come on. I'll go with you."
Audrey glanced at Linda meaningfully.
Jarman took them to the car and closed the door. Linda asked him, "Why Edward wants to meet her?"
Jarman said, "I don't know. You can ask Mr. Smith."
Linda knew about the twins who worked for Edward. Usually, they did not appear unless Edward asked them to do something important.
How could he not know why?
Linda sat in the back seat, clutching her arms. She had a hint of mocking in her eyes without saying anything.
The car pulled up in front of Moonshadow. The three of them got out together and walked inside. Audrey didn't say a word the whole way. Her face was pale. Linda said sideways, "You've done something wrong? What are you afraid of?"
When Audrey heard this, it stuck in her throat. She didn't even know who to beg. She could only step forward as if to die.
In the booth, Edward was seated and playing Sudoku. He heard a knock at the door and said, "Come in."
Jarman brought them in. Edward saw Audrey and Linda.
Linda walked forward and sat down frankly in front of Edward. She picked up the teapot and poured a cup of tea, "What do you want with her? Look how scared she is."
It was hard to tell whether Edward was angry or not. He said, "I want to buy something from her. Do you believe that?"
His simple words were sarcastic and provocative. Linda understood that Edward had checked Audrey out.
She didn't change her face but feigned surprise by raising her eyebrows, "What do you want to buy?"
Edward played through the level. He put his phone away, lit a cigarette, and looked up to Audrey, who was not far away, "You know why I asked you to come here?"
Audrey didn't even dare to look Edward in the eye. Her neck was stiffened. The only thing she could do was shaking her head.
Edward was expressionless, "I hate someone stubborn and reluctant to admit her mistakes. I don't want to ask you again. If you think you have the backbone and can walk out of here in a whole skin, then you can keep pretending."
After his blatant threat, Audrey suddenly turned pale. She clenched her fists nervously and said, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Mr. Smith. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to it."
Jarman, standing on the sidelines, looked indifferent. That drama was not interesting at all. He didn't know why Edward wanted to interrogate her in person.
Edward was in a good mood, so he interrogated the woman without feeling bored.
He asked loud, "What's wrong?"
Audrey bowed her head, "...I shouldn't have filmed you... I'm sorry. I swear I won't do it again. Please forgive me..."
Edward said, "What about after the sneak peek?"
Audrey answered a question at once, "I shouldn't have passed the photos on or rumored. I'm sorry..."
An apology followed each sentence she finished. Edward flicked the cigarette ash, "Did you have the photos passed on to Jane's company?"
"I'm sor..." Audrey apologized subconsciously. Only halfway through the sentence did she lift her tear-filled eyes and shake her head vigorously, "It wasn't me. I didn't do it."
Edward stared at her coldly, "I'll give you one more chance."

Audrey shook her head vigorously, "It wasn't me. I just sent them to a few people I know. I didn't send them to other people."
She didn't have the guts either.
Edward asked, "Who did you send the photos to?"
Audrey pursed her lips and didn't answer right away.
Jarman came up from behind her, took out her phone, and beckoned her to unlock it. Audrey was reluctant. Jarman reached out and clasped her arms. He didn't use much force, but Audrey suddenly opened her mouth without crying. Half of her body went limp, and she crouched directly at his feet.
Jarman calmly released his hands. Audrey felt numb all over. The phone was handed over again, and she didn't dare hesitate to press the unlock code.
Jarman gave the phone to Edward, who clicked on WeChat and scrolled through the conversations from top to bottom. It was the first time he had looked at a woman's phone. Though he knew women were very gossipy, he was surprised when he saw the conversations in person.
The first person Audrey sent the photos to was Linda. Audrey called him and Jane an adulterous couple. However, Linda's response was much calmer. She told Audrey to delete the photos and not to spread them around.
Then Audrey sent the photos to three other people at the same time, trolling him and Jane and mocking Linda for being cheated. She said that Linda watched him fool around with another woman and could do nothing about it but only dared to say in private that he was her boyfriend.
Women were as vicious as men. The group of people who seemed to be best friends slandered each other on the sly with no spare effort. Audrey said the same words to the three persons: "I only sent the photos to you. You must keep the secret."
The responses were the same, "I see. Of course, I won't."
Edward read their words and said, "She sent you the photos?"
He was talking to Linda, who was sitting in front of him.
Linda was calm and collected, "Yes."
Edward tossed the phone in front of Linda. She picked it up and looked at it.
"You treat her like a friend, but she treats you like a joke." Edward scowled at Linda's face.
Audrey knew what was in her phone and didn't dare to make any sound at the moment. She just hung her head and wailed.
Linda looked at the phone for a moment, got up with an expressionless face, and came over to Audrey.
Audrey dared not raise her eyes but whispered, "I'm sorry, Linda..."
Linda slapped Audrey's face with her phone and said coldly, " All you did will boomerang. No one else is to blame."
The phone was casually thrown into the bin. Linda stepped towards the door when Audrey subconsciously pulled her arm, "Linda......"
If Linda had gone, she had no idea what Edward would have done to her.
Linda slapped her with a backhand. Audrey was astonished, and her hair loosed.
Linda's eyes widened, and her pupils narrowed. She gritted her teeth and said, "This isn't over. Edward will give you a lesson today. I'll wait for tomorrow."
She went out in a huff and slammed the door loudly. It could tell that she had lost face.
Edward hadn't seen anything wrong with Linda. Linda had such a temperament. People around her could only coax her. Anyone who dared to talk behind her back broke her taboo.
He was not sure Audrey was the one who sent the emails publicly. But she was the one who started it, so he must punish her severely.
"Call those guys you passed the photos to and let them come over."
Edward was determined to find out who was behind this. Otherwise, he would feel sorry for Jane.
