Chapter 226 Persist Efforts to Discredit Edward

Chapter 226 Persist Efforts to Discredit Edward
Jane didn't answer the phone and put it back into her bag. Aron asked in a low voice, "Is he harassing you?"
Jane said, "What's worse than harassment is not harassment."
Ken would never contact Jane other than to ask for her help. He must have something to bother her as he called her so early. Jane didn't want to get involved with him, so she told Aaron she would go home for Justin's class.
Jane took the lift downstairs. Walking forward, she suddenly heard a man's voice, "Jane, my sister."
At this moment, she didn't hear who was speaking. She just instinctively looked at the person. Oh, no. The Murphy effect worked. You would meet whatever you dislike or fear.
Ken was sitting in the driver's seat in a red Ferrari on the street, waving to her through the lowered window. His stylish car and his stylish face instantly attracted the attention of many pedestrians.
For a moment, Jane wanted to pretend to be blind. Would it work if she pretended not to see him?
Of course not.
Jane stood still as Ken pushed open the car door and stepped out. The early morning sunlight poured over his green jumper, making him look dazzling.
He was the only person who looked nice in this jumper with such a pale complexion.
Ken came up to Jane with a natural look, "What a coincidence. Are you working or off?"
Jane didn't change her face even when she was blocked by him, "What can I do for you?"
Ken said, "That's what you say every time you see me. Do you have some new words?"
Jane said, "I have to give lessons to my students."
She was refusing to talk with him. Ken wasn't offended and pretended not to know what her mind was. He asked, as usual, "Have you had breakfast?"
Jane lied, "Yes."
Ken said, "I haven't eaten yet. You are familiar with the bloc, so please help me choose what to eat."
Jane pointed to the store across the street, "That's a good place for breakfast."
Ken said, "Let's go."
Jane didn't move, "I have work to do. Sorry, I cannot accompany you."
Ken fixed his eyes on her face, staring at her unblinkingly until Jane could not resist speaking, "Do you have something else?"
Ken suddenly 'tsked' twice, "Edward was a brute. He dared to do this to you when I didn't keep an eye on him. You pined away."
Jane didn't change her face, but in her heart, she asked, "How can you see me pining away?" She ate and slept well.
"Mrt. G..."
"You don't have to say anything. I see. I will stand up for you." Ken looked at Jane with a hint of heart aching in his eyes.
Jane would not believe him. It was a waste of his talent if he didn't become an actor.
"Mr. Garcia, do you misunderstand me?" Jane fought the urge to roast Ken and tried to communicate with him in a normal way.
Ken said, "You don't have to hide your sorrow. Just say what you want me to do."
Jane said, "I don't quite understand what you mean."
Ken had full of pity for Jane. He lowered his voice, "Did Edward force you?"
Jane didn't change her face, "Do you mean those photos? That was a misunderstanding."
Ken frowned, "You don't have to be afraid of him. I'm here."
Jane directly said, "No matter to anyone's face, I'll tell the truth. It was indeed a misunderstanding."
Ken looked at her for a few seconds and asked, "Do you like him?"

Jane said, "Mr. Garcia, it's privacy. I don't want to answer. I hope you understand."
She wanted to say, "None of your business."
Seeing her refusal to answer, Ken looked worried. He hesitated for a moment before saying, "Did Edward lie to you with his fancy words? Don't believe him. He's a liar. He coaxed you, and then he went to Amy. Amy is the most famous female PR in S City. Last night Amy was touched by some people. Edward was mad because of that, so he beat the crap out of them. That was not enough. He asked people to strip them of their trousers and tie them up on the cross-harbor bridge for half a night. The police did not dare to untie them."
Ken's speech was so graphic. Jane imaged that. Although the temperature in S City was above 0 degrees Celsius, it was still cold with the sea breeze blowing on their bare bottom. See those men, the cars passing by might get rear-ended.
She was expressionless and silent. Ken mistakenly thought she was shocked and sad. He comforted Jane, "I told you he wasn't a good guy. You're just too naive and too nice to know people ......"
Jane raised her eyes to the man before her and said calmly, "I know."
Ken froze as Jane continued, "I know he went to see Amy last night."
Ken was confused and suspicious. He said slowly, "You knew?"
Jane nodded her head.
Ken said, "Aren't you angry?"
Jane said without blinking, "Is it strange for a man to have a confidante? Both Mr. Smith and Ms. Young are unmarried. Why should I be unhappy that they are in love?"
Saying that, without waiting for Ken's reply, Jane clarified, "Mr. Garcia, I appreciate you coming to comfort my mood in the first place. I'm okay. That's not a lie. The photos were a misunderstanding, and I don't want to discuss it. If Miss Young asks me about the photos, I might explain to her carefully."
She made it clear with just several words. She was so calm that Ken was confused. Was she for real, or was she pretending not to care about them?
After silence, he said, "Do you know how I feel right now?"
Jane didn't say anything. She didn't want to know.
Ken froze up and told her, "Like surviving a disaster. I'm glad you weren't forced by that brute Edward."
Jane was unmoved. She replied politely, "Thank you."
Ken showed helplessness, "Can you be more sincere?"
Jane said, "Thank you."
Ken curled his lips and laughed silently. She defeated him.
"You're not chatty."
Jane said, "You could try flirting with someone else."
Ken asked, "Are you talking with Edward in the same way?"
Jane said, "Mr. Smith doesn't talk much. We only talk to each other if necessary."
Ken had a sneer in his eyes, "He's used to playing that trick. He never initiated conversations, waiting for others to butter him up."
Jane doesn't answer. The more she said now, the more mistakes she might make. With Ken's big mouth, she did not doubt that he would tell Edward the content of their conversation.
Ken said, "It's best if you don't fall into his trap. Many green and inexperienced women love his cold and standoffish look. It was likely that someone around him filmed you, intending to get rid of you secretly."
Jane thought these were the only right words in his mouth.
Ken saw her changed face, so he continued, "I know all the people around him. Do you want me to help you uncover that ghost? You've been refusing to acknowledge me as your friend. Would you like to consider it if I'll show some sincerity first?"
