Chapter 225 Blessings and Disasters
Jane's psychological quality was always higher than others. Yesterday's incident had probably spread all over the education circle in S City, including Forward Education. Most people would be worried about that, but she did not. Especially when Amy called Edward away, she was not worried. She ate and drank as normal. Also, she slept well at night and did not wake up until the alarm clock rang.
When she was washing up, her mobile phone rang. That was Lieder Walter's mother.
Lieder was one of the students she tutored. She attended classes every afternoon from Monday to Wednesday.
It was Saturday. Jane thought Mrs. Wang would have to make other arrangements for Monday's class.
"Hello, Mrs. Wong." Jane greeted.
A woman's voice came over the phone. She was very polite, "Miss Cooper, sorry to bother you so early. Didn't I disturb your rest?"
Jane said, "No. I've already got up. What can I do for you?"
The woman said, " Lieder's father and I have always intended to change the school he studies in, but we did not do so in fear that may influence his study as he is in the third grade of junior high school. Winter vacation is coming, so we want him to study in a new school from next term. His new school locates on Prince's Street, too far from here. We want to quit your tutoring, for you are busy with your work and cannot spend too much time on him."
Justin was the first student Jane came to teach in S City, and Lieder was the second. His family had always been good to her and even praised her for teaching well. Lieder's grades improved quickly, and his family had never mentioned that they wanted to change school for him. There were less than six months before the senior high school entrance examination, it made no sense to change schools if everything was right, unless it was because...
Jane quickly replied, "Prince's Street is a bit far away. I'm not able to do anything about it. Lieder's grades are stable now, so you can ask him about his thoughts and see if he needs another tutor."
The woman said, "Miss. Cooper, we like you. I appreciate what you've done for Lieder in the past few months. We'd like to keep hiring you if we have another choice."
Jane smiled, "It's me who should thank you for taking care of me. Lieder can always contact me if he has any future study problems. Nowadays, online tutoring is very convenient."
The woman said, "Yes. Lieder was particularly sad. Last night I told him our choice, he was upset and lost his temper with me."
Jane said, "I remember you still have about thirty classes. If you are moving out for winter break, I'm afraid you won't be able to finish them at the current pace. Should we add another one class every afternoon from Monday to Wednesday?"
The woman quickly replied, "No. It's quite uneasy about telling you we're going to move out suddenly. What's more, we have been busy recently. I've let Lieder live on campus. So, there is no need to tutor him. As for the rest classes, I've discussed it with Lieder's father. I'll go to your office later and tell the manager that you've been taking extra classes for the first few weeks and have finished all the lessons."
Jane said, "No, I cannot do that."
She priced one lesson for 800 dollars. After the company took half of the money, she still could get 400 dollars for one lesson. Thirty lessons were over ten hundred thousand dollars. How could she take advantage of that?
The woman was committed, "Miss Cooper, Lieder's father, and I appreciate your dedication these months. We wanted to give you some gifts, but we didn't know what to give. We would not let other tutors teach Lieder, so please take this as our last small token of appreciation."
Jane said, "Our company will help you through the withdrawal process. I happen to be going to the office soon, so I will help you apply first. You will get your money back tomorrow or the next day if it goes well."
Jane had already guessed the reason why they dropped the lessons. The education circle was very small. Lieder's tutors for other subjects were also from Forward Education. So, the Walters might have already seen those photos. It was very common for parents to be concerned about the characteristics of the tutor. Since they didn't intend to call a spade a spade, Jane could not pretend she did not know the reason and take advantage of them.
Hearing her words, Mrs. Walter was even more nervous and hastily said, "Miss Cooper, we have known each other for a long time. You know what kind of person I am. You deserve our small token of appreciation for your credits and hard work."
Mrs. Walter knew that Jane had done something wrong, but she still gave Jane a lot of money. It was not because Jane was good-looking but because she feared the other person in the photo and wanted to use their financial loss to prevent a disaster.
Jane did not mince matter. She said in a normal voice, "Mrs. Walter, I know your goodwill. You've already given me your trust and took care of me when you picked me up as Lieder's tutor. I hope that Lieder will get good grades in his exams. And if possible, he can remember me as a good teacher. I don't want to ruin my image in his mind."
Jane was neither pretending to be polite nor angry, so Mrs. Walter understood her heartfelt refusal. She hesitated momentarily and said, "Okay, then I won't force it. Although you don't teach Lieder anymore, if you need help, feel free to call us."
The two exchanged pleasantries and hung up the phone. Jane took a sip of water to moisten her throat. Now the afternoons from Monday to Wednesday were free. To avoid wasting time, she should contact some new clients and try to get two lessons every afternoon.
After getting dressed, Jane walked to the office. On the surface, all the people seemed calm, but they had various thoughts. When Jane knocked on Sofia's office door, they thought there would be a follow-up to yesterday's incident, but Jane was there to help a client drop classes.
Sofia sent an email to Aiden. She expected a quick reply, but after waiting all day and all night, she got no reply. She didn't know what it meant.
When Jane mentioned dropping classes, Sofia asked why and quickly connected it with those photos. She was in a good mood when she saw Jane's career hit the road. That might be the most comforting thing in a while.
Someone backed Jane. Some wanted to be supported, while others were afraid that a person of high position was liable to be attacked. At the current rate, Jane was bound to be influenced by the gossip about Jane and Edward.
Sofia, mocking her in her heart, had an impassive expression and noted it. Then she let Jane out. Aaron stood outside. When he saw Jane come out, he immediately asked, "What's wrong?"
Jane said, "I have my afternoon lessons from Monday to Wednesday stopped. So please keep an eye out for me when you find any potential clients. It will be good if I can have two classes in one afternoon."
Aaron frowned, "Sofia the Siren stopped your classes?"
Jane said, "The client moved out and asked to stop."
Aaron wasn't stupid and quickly said, "It's because of the photo thing, isn't it?"
Jane looked as normal, " Everyone thinks in his way...."
Halfway through the conversation, her phone rang. She was repulsed when she pulled it out and saw the name on the screen. That was Ken.
