Chapter 221 Fantastic Meal
Jane knew that Justin wouldn't buy this. If she told Justin about the twin fish, he would look at her as if she was an idiot.
Speak of the evil and he came.
Justin appeared at the kitchen door, opened the door, and said, "Uncle Edward, your cell phone is ringing."
Edward was still wearing gloves and didn't bother to take them off. "Help me get them."
Justin turned around and went out. When he came back, he took Edward's phone. Edward looked at the screen. It was a strange number. He took off a glove and answered it himself. "Hello?"
A female voice came from the phone. "Mr. Smith, I'm Amy."
Edward's expression didn't change. "What's the matter?"
At this moment, Justin had gone out, and there were only Jane and Edward left in the kitchen. Jane was afraid that the sound of her cutting vegetables would disturb Edward, so she deliberately did something quiet, and she accidentally heard that it was a woman.
Amy said, "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry to disturb you. I really can't think of any other way. I can only ask you for help. Today, a group of people came from another city. I'm not familiar with them. Camilla asked me to drink with them, and I went there. Those people insisted that I should go out and have dinner with them. I said I had an appointment. They were unwilling to let me go, and they said they must take me out tonight. Now I'm hiding in the bathroom and speaking to you. Could you help me?"
She was about to cry. Jane and Edward were a few steps away from each other. Although Jane didn't know who the woman was, she heard the woman say a lot, and the woman seemed to be crying.
Edward didn't even look up after hearing this. "I'm busy. Ask Vincent for help."
Amy was afraid that he would hang up at any time, so she hurriedly said, "I called Mr. Perez. He is not in the city. He gave me your number and told me to find you."
Edward frowned lightly. D*mn Vincent. He really caused him trouble.
After a pause, Edward said, "Are you in Redmoon Club?"
"Yes."
"I'll send someone over."
Amy was grateful. "Thank you, Mr. Smith..."
Edward hung up, called someone, and said, "Go to Redmoon Club and bring Amy out. Just say I'm looking for her."
Edward hung up and put his mobile phone in his trouser pocket after saying a few words. His expression was a little impatient.
Jane heard some and guessed some in her heart. The kitchen was so quiet that she couldn't pretend not to hear anything. She had to turn her head and say, "Mr. Smith, if you have something to do, go first. I'll treat you again when you are free."
Edward looked as usual. "It's okay."
Jane couldn't persuade him again. Looking at the washed new dishes aside, she said, "Please go out and have a rest. The meal will be ready soon."
Edward didn't refuse. He took off his other glove and turned around to go out.
More than half an hour later, Jane took out the dishes with the new plates sent by Edward. The first dish was twin fish. One was sweet and sour fish, and the other was braised fish.
Justin was very discerning. He got up and went to the kitchen to help Jane serve the dishes. Edward didn't squeeze into the kitchen. He came to the table and silently pulled out three chairs.
Jane cooked eight dishes and one soup. Before sitting down, she took out a bottle of wine and said to Edward, "This is the wine made by my aunt. Would you like to try it?"
Edward nodded. Jane poured half a glass of wine for him. He instinctively shook the glass. Jane said, "It's not foreign red wine. You don't have to let it breathe."
Edward stopped, took a sip, and said seriously, "Not bad."
Justin said, "I also want to try it."
Jane said, "There is juice in the refrigerator. Do you want to drink orange juice or pineapple juice?"
Justin pursed his mouth and got up to get it himself.
Jane sat opposite Edward. It was her house, so she smiled and said, "Make yourself at home. It's a common meal. Help yourself."
Edward picked up a piece of rib that was the nearest to him and took a bite. Jane noticed his expression and asked tentatively, "Does it suit your taste?"
Edward said, "The taste is a little strange."
Jane said, "This is the dried rib made in my hometown. It was smoked and dried. People in S City eat fresh ribs and steam them with plum. In my hometown, we steam ribs with a kind of sour pickle. It is sour and salty."
Edward took another bite. "It's good."
Jane filled him with a bowl of soup. There were many ingredients in it, which smelled delicious.
Edward was picky about food in ordinary times, but he was obedient to Jane. He took it and took a sip. Before she asked, he said, "It's very delicious."
Jane said, "If it suits your taste, drink more."
Edward scooped up a piece of white food with a yellow edge. It was like tofu. He asked, "What is this?"
"This is fish cake, a specialty of H City."
Edward said, "I like this."
Jane said, "I have another piece of fish cake in the refrigerator. I'll pack it for you later."
Edward lowered his head and drank the soup. "What's the use of giving it to me? I don't know how to cook."
Only then did Jane realize that Edward lived in Rhine Garden. Justin ate three meals here a day. As long as she didn't go there, they wouldn't cook there.
After thinking for a while, Jane said, "The fish cake can't be kept long. I'll cook it for you and let Justin take it to you in a few days."
Edward didn't refuse her. He didn't open his mouth and said, "H'm."
Justin seldom spoke while eating. He was used to it. Jane asked him, "How is the fish today?"
Justin said without raising his eyes, "Sort of."
Jane was surprised and tasted the braised fish. "It's delicious. Did I fail to cook it?"
Justin said, "It must be the elder brother of the twins. The meat is tougher than the other one."
Jane didn't know when he overheard it and couldn't help laughing, "Do you feel this while eating it?"
This was a particularly brainless joke, but Edward chipped in. His face was calm as he said, "It may not be the elder brother. Perhaps the younger brother exercised less."
Justin said, "If it exercised less, its meat would be fat. The meat is obviously tough."
Edward said, "Then eat my fish."
Justin said, "Someone showed favoritism behind my back."
Jane, who was eating, reacted slowly and looked up. "I?"
Justin was noncommittal, and Jane looked very innocent. "What did I do? I couldn't tell which one was elder and which one was younger."
Edward said, "It's all right. Just admit that you show partiality to me. You can show partiality to him the next time."
Justin looked at Jane as if he had long guessed everything. Jane didn't know how to defend herself. What was wrong with them?
The atmosphere at the dinner table was better than expected, though their conversation was a bit silly. Justin looked calm on the surface, but in fact, he was very happy at the bottom of his heart. The two people he liked were both around him. They ate together, and the meal was so delicious. Edward looked composed, and he was in a good mood. There were no cronies, no entertainment women, no costly food or expensive wine. His feeling was special as he drank the homemade red wine.
Jane was calm but surprised. She was able to sit at the same table with two men she had only known for half a year. Well, Justin was at most a big boy. As for Edward, he was really not so domineering as rumored. At this time, he was luring Justin with the red wine. He knew that Justin couldn't drink, but he kept using his expression to tell Justin that it was delicious.
