Chapter 215 A Warning
Jane Cooper felt that Edward Smith was willing to come to the company to help. So she had no reason to put on a show and not come to greet him. But she forgot what people would think if the two appeared upstairs together.
This was a rescue mission.
The help came quite quickly.
The fact that a man like Edward was coming as soon as he says he will, showed that the two of them have an extraordinary relationship.
This was a real fishy situation.
Now we're in for a treat.
Jane swept a glance at the faces of the crowd. She instantly read everyone's minds. Rumour has it. The key is that some people love to watch the scene of bustle. They pretended to be blind selectively.
The Forward Education's assistant had already met Edward several times and was familiar with him. He saw that Jane had just entered the company gate with Edward. He immediately informed Charles Lee and Sofia Moore.
Charles thought to solve the problem as soon as possible. He quickly went out of the office, while Sofia was simply afraid of Edward and did not dare to be bold. She hung up the phone and went out.
Edward and Jane had only just entered the door for a few seconds when Charles and Sofia both welcomed them.
"Mr. Smith." Charles nodded his head in greeting.
Edward had a dark face, clearly unhappy. Before the other party could say anything, he took the lead, "Where do we talk? Your place or the police station?"
He was in the public area when he said this, all the staff heard him. At first, staff were planning to see Jane's joke, but as soon as the word police station came out, the situation immediately changed. The faces of the crowd could not help but be a little warier. They were afraid that watching the fun would also cause a riot.
Jane had not spoken to Edward before, and also did not know what he would say. Sofia looked defensive. She thought that Edward-the 'evil man' was really something.
Charles showed a formulaic smile and reached out with a 'please' gesture, "Please move to the parlour."
Edward knew where the parlour was, he had been here several times, and he knew his way around. Edward walked in the front, followed by Jane, Charles and Sofia. Their figures disappeared at the door of the parlour. After entering the door, Charles asked someone to lower the blinds.
The people outside were looking at each other. They would normally have started gossiping, but today no one dared to.
Inside the parlour, Edward sat on the main seat on the sofa. Charles sat opposite him. Jane and Sofia sat on separate sofas on both sides. Charles asked someone to prepare drinks.
Edward said, "No need, I'm not here to relax."
Sofia straightened her back. She hates Edward. But at the same time, she was glad that Charles was with her, otherwise, she would not have been able to face him alone.
Charles kept his demeanour polite, and said with a light smile, "Sorry Mr. Smith, for taking the liberty of inviting you to the company. Here's the thing, we have something we'd like to ask you to testify for Miss Cooper."
Sofia smiled and was inwardly dissatisfied. What do you mean by testifying? It's not clear yet whether what Jane said was true or not. Looking at the way she and Edward come together. It's unbelievable to say that there is no adultery.
Edward lit a cigarette, took a puff and casually said, "The photo thing?"
Charles nodded his head
Edward said, "I just opened my eyes today and heard people say that my photos are being spread everywhere. The source of the photos is your company intranet, and your people are taking my photos and spreading them around. What do you mean?"
Even though Charles hoped that Edward would help Jane to dispel the rumours, he never expected Edward to take such a tricky angle.
After a short pause, Charles quickly said, "The photo suddenly appeared in the company staff's internal mailbox early in the morning. It was my negligence. I will immediately have someone delete the photo and prohibit private dissemination, stopping expanding the impact."
"I don't care who sent them to you. Now what I can be sure of is that all the photos out there were sent from your company. In the education industry, you guys are teachers, do you understand privacy? I think you guys should stop being tutors and become entertainment reporters and paparazzi instead, it's more profitable," Edward exhaled a cigarette and said.
Edward is ruthless. He doesn't use dirty words when he hurts people, and he is reasonable. He did not stir up trouble. For a time Charles can only apologize.
Sofi could not bear to look at it and said stiffly: "Mr. Smith, the company has more than a hundred people. This thing happened suddenly. We do have management loopholes. We will definitely investigate thoroughly and give you an explanation as soon as possible as for who secretly shared the photos. Right now there is another problem that needs to be solved."
Looking at Jane, who was silent, Sofia said, "Miss Cooper was photographed with you on the court. Let's not discuss who violated your privacy. But we have strict vetting standards for our staff, including not only business ability, but also personal reputation, credibility, etc. After all, teacher is a special profession, and we are obliged to assure each customer of the character of our tutors, so that everyone can rest assured to entrust their children to us."
Edward didn't change his expression, and his eyelids lifted, "After saying so much, what do you want to express?"
Sofia went out of her way to pull Jane down, trying to look directly into Edward's rather aggressive eyes and spoke back, "Many people are now questioning Miss Cooper's private morals. As the head of the company, we have to give everyone an explanation and be responsible to our clients."
Edward's slender fingers were holding the cigarette, and his hand was flicking the cigarette ashes, but his eyes did not leave Sofia's face, which felt like that a beast is staring at its prey. He was unable to take his eyes off and ready to strike at any moment.
Sofia was panicking, but she didn't want to miss such a good opportunity. What she was doing was in line with the company's rules, and on the other hand, Aiden Cater was still there to protect her.
"Jane."
Edward looked at Sofia for a few seconds, then suddenly looked to the other side. Jane immediately looked up at him. Edward asked, "Didn't you explain to them?"
Jane said, "I explained, that day it was me who accidentally fell. You came over to help me and were pulled down with me. Miss Moore said that such a reason was not convincing enough. I felt that it was my conviction that was not enough, so I could only trouble you to prove it for me."
Edward looked at Sofia, and said, "What kind of reason do you want?"
His voice was not loud, but his face was expressionless. His tone was with a touch of stoicism that was frightening.
Sofia's face turned pale. She thought Charles would stand up for her, but he did not do that. The parlour was silent, everyone was looking at her, waiting for her answer.
She tried hard not to show any fear. After a moment's hesitation, she said, "Mr. Smith you have misunderstood me, it's not what kind of the reason I want, it's that outside ......"
Edward impatiently interrupted, "I'm asking you now, do you believe this reason?"
Sofia felt like a fishbone getting stuck in her throat. She did not believe the reason, but she did not dare to say so. But if she says that she believes them, what should be the next step? Let Jane go? That is impossible.
Edward waited for her answer for three seconds. He took the last puff of his cigarette, pressed the butt into the ashtray, and said nonchalantly, "It seems that you don't believe the reason."
Sofia's heart inexplicably sank, feeling that something bad was about to happen.
