Chapter 21 A Sudden Illness

Chapter 21 A Sudden Illness
The driver and bodyguards arrived in time, so Jane was not affected by this incident. When she came to Smith's house, Sam stood at the door to greet her as usual and sent her to the second floor before leaving.
After entering Justin's room, Jane habitually opened the curtains of the living room, then knocked on the door of his bedroom. It took a long time for him to answer only two words, "Come in."
Jane opened the door and entered. Seeing the dim lights of the room, she immediately became vigilant, thinking that Justin was going to play tricks on her again. But when she took a closer look, it was just because Justin hadn't gotten up yet.
Jane opened the curtains first, then walked to the bedside, asking, "What tricks are you playing today?"
Justin pulled the quilt to cover his head, only leaving the part above his nose exposed. Closing his eyes, he replied slowly, "I don't want to have class, you can go."
His voice obviously sounded weak. Jane felt something wrong and said, "What's wrong with you?"
Justin didn't say a word. She hesitated for a few seconds, then reached out and brushed his fringe. When she touched his forehead, he seemed startled. He frowned and opened his eyes, looking sideways at her, and said, "What are you doing?"
Jane retracted her hand. "Fortunately, you don't have a fever."
Justin said unkindly, "How dare you touch me?"
Justin said calmly, "You are not feeling well. I'll help you to call Sam over."
Though very weak, Justin insisted, "Leave me alone, just go. You can say that I don't want to have class today."
Jane saw that his face became pale after saying this. He couldn't pretend to be sick, so she asked, "Why didn't you say you're uncomfortable? You have a family doctor, right? You don't need to get up and go to the hospital. How about letting the doctor visit you?"
Justin frowned and replied with a pale face, "Come on. I said leave me alone."
He wondered if she could stop talking nonsense and let him say fewer words.
Jane stood beside the bed and stared at him for a few seconds, "Are you afraid of injections or taking medicine?"
Justin closed his eyes and frowned to express his mood at this moment.
Jane asked, "You were fine the day before yesterday. What have you been doing the two days?"
Justin had no response. Jane turned around and walked out. She only took two steps when his voice came from behind, "Where are you going?"
Jane turned around and said, "Go to find Sam."
Justin sat up in shock, and said with a pale face, "If you dare to tell him, I promise you won't have a good life in the future, let alone stay at my home!"
Jane looked at him. He thought she would be angry, but she curled her lip and said, "Lie down now. I'm afraid you would faint in the next second."
Justin held his body and refused to lie down, his face becoming paler and paler, with red eyes.
She said, "I won't tell Sam, nor will I call the doctor. Go back to sleep. I'll go."
Seeing Jane leave, Justin fell down again. He still felt dizzy and painful, though his eyes were closed.
Feeling groggy, he heard someone call him, "Justin."
Justin thought he had hallucinations, so he opened his eyes with difficulty, and caught a glimpse of Jane who was standing beside the bed.
"Why haven't you left yet?" He said in a low sound due to his lack of strength.
Jane sat down on a chair, then picked up a tray from the bedside table next to him, and held it down to show him, "Get up and eat something. Do you want to have fruit porridge or vegetable cake first? This cold dish is delicious..."

Justin took a glance. The fried vegetable cakes looked golden brown, the two plates of vegetables were lusciously green, and the porridge was filled with various kinds of colorful fruits... He was originally irritable and didn't want to eat, but somehow, he found the food a little appetizing.
Jane had been with him for a week and had almost known what he was thinking. She put down the tray and helped him sit up. Justin frowned immediately. "No need for you."
He held his "120-year-old" body and sat up with difficulty. Jane helped him put a pillow behind his back and handed the tray in front of him, "Take whatever you want."
Justin didn't eat directly, but stared at her and asked, "Did you tell others?"
Jane said, "No."
"Then where did you get the food?"
Jane said, "I did." Facing his suspicion, she calmly said, "I went downstairs and told Sam that the new challenge you gave me today is cooking, and he had no doubts at all."
Justin couldn't find something wrong, so he could only ask, "Really?"
Jane answered, "Even if I farm in your backyard tomorrow, as long as I say it's your order, your whole family will not doubt it."
Hearing the words, Justin reluctantly picked up the bowl and took a sip of fruit porridge containing apples, pears, strawberries, kiwi, and oranges. Not only did it look beautiful, but it also tasted sweet and sour. He wanted to scorn this, but he didn't have a chance at all.
Sitting next to him, Jane said in a relaxed way, "Why didn't you tell others you're sick? Even if you don't tell outsiders, you have to tell your dad. Otherwise, wouldn't he blame everyone else if you have an illness?"
Justin said, "He's not at home."
"You can just call him and get him back," said Jane.
Justin lowered his head and said, "You're the one who wants to see him, right?"
Jane didn't expect him to say this and suddenly became speechless. She could only laugh and say, "Okay, okay, forget it."
Justin didn't have much energy until he had all the fruit porridge in one go. He was not full, and then he ate vegetable cakes, served with small cold dishes recommended by Jane. The more he ate, the better he felt. He didn't doubt who did this meal because the chef at home had never made this, not to mention the small porcelain plate that was used to coax kids.
Halfway through the meal, Justin caught sight of Jane taking out sticky notes and a gel pen from her bag. She wrote down a phone number, put it on the bedside table, and raised her head, saying, "I have class this afternoon, so I can't stay with you here. Call me if you need me for anything."
Justin looked at the time secretly, only to find that an hour and a half had passed. Looking down, he said indifferently, "Just go. Why do I need your help?'
Jane got up and said with a smile, "Have a good sleep after eating these, and you'll be fine."
When she came downstairs, Sam quickly came and asked in a low voice, "How's it going?"
Jane answered, "He ate it."
Sam said gratefully, "Miss Cooper, thank you so much for taking the time to grind the pills and cook it yourself..."
Jane smiled and said, "It's OK. Next time if he catches a cold from swimming, you can use this method to deal with him."
Sam sent Jane out and said as he walked, "He listens to your persuasion, and our words don't work at all."
After leaving the door, Jane said, "Go back, I'm leaving."
Sam nodded with a smile. "Thank you, Miss Cooper, see you tomorrow."
Sitting in the Bentley, Jane couldn't help being lost in thought. She thought about the Smith family's huge house and seven or eight servants who couldn't even take care of a child when he was sick. It's not that they were not careful, but they didn't know what happened at all. Justin's wilfulness was one of the reasons, but it ultimately came down to the negligence of his relatives.
She hadn't seen Edward when she came here a few times recently.
