Chapter 235 I'll See How She Dares to Strike Him
The family problem had been there for some time, and the parents could not change their minds so easily. Even if she wanted to persuade the Wright couple to be a little nicer to Eloise, Jane could get it down with a few words. And she was just an outsider. The more she spoke, the more mistakes she made. Maybe the couple would give Eloise a hard time when they got home.
What she could only do was use the privilege Edward gave her to make the couple afraid of her a bit, then they would not feel so relaxed bullying Eloise that much.
The apology and forgiveness today were in fact a trade term for both parties. Jane forgave Rhett, letting Edward vent his spleen. In return, the Wright couple would try their best to watch Rhett, providing a friendly living environment for Eloise.
Despite the saddening truth, things were nice on the surface. The two parties shook hands and reached a peace treaty.
Seeing that Jane had accepted their apology and condition, Mrs. Wright could not wait to rise and say, "I'll go bring in Eloise and Rhett."
Afraid that Rhett would throw a tantrum, the man naturally reminded her, "Rhett is playful. If he doesn't want to have dinner, let him play around outside. Just bring in Eloise."
His wife responded, opened the door, and went outside. After looking for their two children for a while, she still did not see them, so she had to go to a restaurant worker.
Obviously trying to avoid her eyes, the restaurant worker told her the less important thing, "The girl seems to have gone out with someone..."
Mrs. Wright frowned slightly, not caring about Eloise at all. Then she asked, "What about the little boy then?"
"The little boy... seemed to be here earlier, but later, I didn't see him..."
In fact, everyone knew the bad boy had been taken into the washroom. Earlier, cries had come from the inside, but later, the cries had been getting lower and gradually disappeared.
The restaurant workers had been afraid that something bad might happen here, so they had informed their boss hurriedly. Fortunately, their boss had the superiors' ear. After the news had been spread among some superiors, Edward and Vincent even got the news.
Vincent was dumbfounded. It was said that Henry had shouted his name in public, which he could not really believe even at this moment. After all, his younger brother was not arrogant.
Edward was having dinner with him at the same table. Hearing that, he simply said, "I let him. Don't care about it."
With Edward being the backer, of course, the inferiors didn't dare to say anything to object. Anyway, the key was that they had witnessed the imp's evil act, and they held the view that an evil guy would have to face another more powerful one of his kind.
Mrs. Wright wouldn't accept the fact that she could not find Rhett. Immediately, she turned hostile and said, "Where's your manager? How come two living beings got lost in your restaurant?"
The manager came over and said with a smile, "The little child might be playing around somewhere nearby. We'll ask someone to look for him."
But Mrs. Wright shouted arrogantly, "What if a seven-year-old child gets lost? What if he has been taken away by a bad guy? Go get the surveillance video. I'll watch it."
The manager muttered inwardly, "A bad guy wouldn't want such a bad child. What's the use of taking him? The guy would be so annoyed."
When Mrs. Wright was asking about the matter, Henry and Eloise appeared at the entrance. After seeing her with a sidelong glance, she immediately walked over in anger and asked, "Where have you been? Where's Rhett?"
Eloise's eyes behind her glasses were apparently red and swollen, showing that she had cried, but her mother did not notice it. She withdrew the hand on which there was ointment. For the first time in her life, she lied with the words Henry had told her earlier.
"When we came out, he didn't listen to or follow me. Instead, he insisted on playing with someone else."
Her mother frowned and glared at her, asking, "With who? Where's he now? Do you think you're a qualified sister? I let you take care of Rhett, but you left him and went out to have fun!"
Henry could not help but interrupt, "She didn't go out to have fun, but went to a hospital to treat her wounds. Look at her hand and arm! All these were what your son did! The doctor asked if a dog had scratched her."
Of course, the doctor had not said a dog had scratched her, but he had wondered who had done it.
Henry spoke with irony on purpose because he was really angry.
Hearing that, Mrs. Wright instantly looked up at him and asked,
"Who are you? How could you talk like that? Don't you have manners?"
Henry almost laughed in anger but held it, saying, "Madam, haven't you noticed your daughter's scratches? Or you only care about your little son? You should be impartial. Both of them are your blood, so how could you be so partial?"
Mrs. Wright was tongue-tied as if she had not expected anyone to say something like this to her face. After remaining silent for three to five whole seconds, she finally said, "Who are you? How can you dare to tell me how I should behave?"
While she was talking, she looked at Eloise, who was silent with lowered head. Without showing any signs, she aimed a slap at her.
Eloise stood her ground, silent. Henry immediately stood before her and angrily asked, "What are you doing?!"
Looking over Henry's shoulder at Eloise, Mrs. Wright said, "Great! I provide you with nice food and good clothes, but you've been out to speak ill of your mother!"
Henry said with a long face, "Don't you feel ashamed of saying that? You don't deserve to be her mother! Even a stepmother is better than you!"
Although he was young, he was tall and strong, so Mrs. Wright didn't dare to risk striking him. Instead, she could only nod with a dark face and said, "Ha, Eloise, you're fully fledged, and I can't give you discipline? Now I'm asking you, 'Where is Rhett?' 'Where have you taken him?'"
Henry cut in, "Don't ask her. Your son went away with someone stubbornly. It was I who took Eloise away. She doesn't know anything."
Mrs. Wright was furious because she wanted to find her son right now. When she was about to return to the private room to complain, she saw Rhett walking like a living dead in the distance. A large part of his gray pants between his legs was apparently wet. That didn't seem to be the trace of water, but a urine mark.
"Rhett!"
The woman ran toward him. Standing behind Henry, Eloise instantly wept. She knew she had always been the ignored one.
When she reached Rhett, Mrs. Wright bent and caught his arm. "Where have you been, Rhett? What happened? Why are your pants wet? Say something! Don't scare Mom!"
Rhett's eyelids were swollen. Obviously, he had wept, but he was now silent, even without any apparent emotions on his face.
The woman was so worried. When she had asked him for a long time but had not seen a reaction, she suddenly shouted, "Manager, ask you manager to come out!"
Standing nearby, the manager came up and said, "Madam, please keep your voice lower. Don't disturb other eaters."
But Mrs. Wright took Rhett's arm and widened her eyes, shouting, "Look, look, my son has become like this in your restaurant! Go get the surveillance video for me, or I'll call the police!"
Before the manager could give a response, a very calm voice sounding between a boy and man came, "There's no need to show you the video. I was with him just now."
Mrs. Wright watched in the direction where the voice had come from and saw Justin.
As soon as Justin came close, Rhett immediately tried to hide behind his mother instinctively, shaking in fear. The woman did not know what had exactly happened, but she could generally guess it, so she roared, "What have you done to my son?"
But Justin said peacefully, "Ask him. Did you enjoy the game just now?"
Clinging to his mother's clothes, Rhett did not cry or make a scene, but shook involuntarily.
With a strong will to protect her son, Mrs. Wright raised her hand to strike Justin, hoping to avenge her son, but the manager immediately reached out his hand to stop her, thinking, "You can't do this! If you touch him, you won't be able to compensate him even with your whole family."
Hearing the noise from the outside, Jane and the man got up and went out to see what was going on, and they happened to see Edward and Vincent walking through the restaurant entrance.
The woman screamed hysterically, hoping to risk her life to fight Justin, but the manager stopped her. Seeing this, Edward gave his word, "Let go of her. I'll see how she dares to strike him."
