Chapter16
Yolanda could feel that Aaron pulled her too hard.
Her wrist was hurt.
That was why she was sure that he would scold her tonight.
On their way back, Aaron didn't say a word.
The atmosphere in the car was so low that Yolanda felt as if she would explode if she breathed a little hard. Even the driver and Lenny noticed that something was wrong with Aaron. Everyone was silent, trying to minimize their sense of existence.
Yolanda didn't dare to say anything more.
After returning to the hotel, Yolanda slowly followed Aaron. She had planned to go back to her room to hide for a while, but this idea was cut off as soon as she came up with it.
Lenny opened the door for Aaron in advance. Before entering the room, Aaron stopped and called out coldly, "Come in with me."
Yolanda was nervous.
It was a strong feeling that the storm was coming.
After the door was closed, Yolanda stood there like a child who had done something wrong and apologized.
"I'm sorry, Brother. I make you worried."
The man didn't say anything. He took off his coat and stood in front of the window with his back to her.
His silence made her feel more guilty.
Pursing her lips, she said in a much lower voice, "I promise I won't do it next time. I'm sorry, Brother."
"Next time?" Aaron turned around and raised his voice. His cold and tough voice startled Yolanda. "Why do you think you can do it again?"
"Why do you think I will worry about you?"
"Do you think you are important?"
Although his words were harsh, Yolanda admitted that she was wrong.
She lowered her head honestly and said, "I'm sorry."
But Aaron didn't appreciate it.
"How old are you? Don't you know how to behave yourself?"
"There is a reception desk at Sela Bridge. You and Lenny are separated. Don't you know to ask for help? Don't you know to ask the staff to help you find someone through the broadcast?"
"Do you think I have a lot of time?"
"Do you think I'm as idle as you?"
"A three-year-old kid knows to call the police for help. What's in your mind? Are you naive or stupid to casually get into a man's car when you see he is good-looking?"
"You just lost your memory, not your mind!"
His words came straight to the point.
She listened silently, biting her lips slightly, and there was a movement of taking a deep breath in her chest.
Aaron didn't see her expression. He paused, took off his tie, threw it aside, and turned his back.
He didn't know why he was so angry.
He didn't react that much when Lenny told him that Yolanda was missing. There were even a few seconds that he felt he had long wanted to lose this burden.
If she could come back by herself, it would be God's arrangement. If she couldn't, he would pretend that she had never met her.
But later, when he sat in the car and tried to go to the dinner party as if nothing had happened, he was at a loss and restless. He felt as if he was scratched by something, and he had no choice but to turn around.
He called Happer first. After all, he was the only one who had Yolanda's phone number. But these days, Happer took his family back to their hometown in the countryside. Perhaps it was because of the signal problem or because his cell phone was not with him, Aaron had called many times, but no one answered.
Aaron had to go to Sela Bridge in person.
He checked the surveillance video but got nothing. He looked back and forth along the Sela Bridge to the hotel but was in vain.
Yolanda seemed to have vanished into thin air.
He couldn't tell how he felt at that time. It was true that he was angry, but he didn't want to admit the worry.
Luckily, on the way to the police station, he finally saw her.
At that moment, he breathed a sigh of relief.
However, when he got out of the car, he found that she was sent back by a strange man. The man was wearing a white shirt and gold-rimmed glasses.
He was the type she once said she liked.
The stupid woman got in the car of a strange man like this. What's more, she wanted to exchange WhatsApp with him, as if she didn't know the ulterior motives of men.
Thinking of this, Aaron became even more agitated. He turned around and looked at the silent woman.
"I'm very busy. If you have such kind of thing next time, please just go away and don't come back to bother me!"
In the quiet suite of the hotel, da kept silent for a long time.
Suddenly, she raised her hand and wiped her face.
The band-aid on her nose fell.
"I can leave now." She said sulkily.
It was not until then that Aaron realized that her face was covered with tears. The tears wetted the band-aid and it fell off.
It wasn't the first time that Yolanda had cried in front of him, but every time she did, she cried loudly and righteously, wishing the whole world to know that she had been wronged.
But it was totally different from what she was now.
The silence and the tears rustling from her eyes made the restlessness floating all over Aaron's body inexplicably cool down.
Like a basin of water pouring over, all the fires were extinguished.
He was a little annoyed. He took out a cigarette but didn't light it. After a while, he looked at her and said, "do you think this trick will always work?"
Yes.
Yolanda thought to herself.
But today, she not only upgraded her tears but also prepared other moves.
After sobbing two times, Yolanda shrugged her shoulders and took out the two dolls she had bought in the market this afternoon from her bag.
"Actually, I went to Sela Bridge to buy this."
"Since you want me to leave now, I'll go." She sniffed and said, "this is for you. Thank you for taking care of me these days."
She wiped her tears again and said, "I hope you can live a happy life in the future."
Then she turned around and left, leaving a silent and sad back.
The door was closed, and the surroundings returned to silence.
Standing there, Aaron's brain was buzzing. He was completely confused by this sudden mess.
It felt as if he was driving a pickup truck on a winding hill just now. The mud was splashed all over the place, and thick smoke was rolling clouds. Suddenly, he slammed on the brake. The hill turned into the cotton ground. No matter how he stepped on it, no matter how hard he accelerated, the engine was soft.
The dolls in his hand succeeded in turning the pickup truck into a weak stretcher in an instant.
After that strong emotion faded away, and only helplessness was left.
Aaron was even more annoyed.
After throwing the dolls on the table, Aaron rubbed his eyebrows and called in Lenny, "where did she go?"
"Next door," said Lenny.
Seeing the annoyance and impatience on Aaron's face, Lenny couldn't help but persuade him, "when she saw the doll stall in the market, she asked the owner if there were any brother and sister and said that she wanted to give them to her brother... I can see that she cares about you very much."
"Besides, there were indeed a lot of people in the market at that time, and she didn't mean to leave. As a girl, she was unfamiliar with this place, so it was normal that she didn't know what to do at that time. Since she came back, don't scold her."
Aaron suddenly opened his eyes and paused, "Did I scold her?"
Lenny thought, "I heard it when I was standing at the door."
"You just raised your voice. You are also worried about her. She can understand." Lenny considered his boss' dignity.
Aaron remained silent. He lit the cigarette he had just taken out, but he didn't smoke it.
He kept looking at the dolls on the table.
After a while, he shook his head and urged Lenny with a helpless look, "go and see how she is."
"Okay."
After Lenny left, Aaron went to the balcony with a cigarette.
After calming down, he knew that he was also responsible for Yolanda's not coming back in time.
He didn't give her his phone number when she asked for it.
If he acted like her brother a little more carefully, left his number to her, or gave her some money to protect herself, this would not happen today.
The night scene in front of Aaron was blurred by the smoke. He spat out two mouthfuls and looked to the left subconsciously.
Yolanda lived next door.
But now the curtain was closed, and only a little light came out.
He didn't know what she was doing.
At this time, Lenny knocked on the door again and came in, "Well... She is packing up and saying that she wants to leave."
Aaron stood straight, smoked, and cursed. Then he walked quickly to the next room.
Yolanda was concentrating on listening to the sound behind the door.
After being scolded for half a day in the next room, Yolanda had already realized what had happened. The consequence was more serious than she expected.
If she didn't do something, the man might not be able to stop scolding her until tomorrow.
Although the trick of tears was used many times, it was useful.
She didn't believe that the man would continue to be angry after she gave him the dolls.
Soon, the door of the next room was opened. Two footsteps approached her alternately.
She immediately ran back to the bed, wrapped herself tightly with the quilt, and began to act autistic.
Three seconds later, Aaron arrived.
He took a look at the room first. The suitcase was pulled out and opened, and there were some clothes scattered.
Then he found that she had hidden under the quilt.
Aaron frowned, "what are you doing?"
Yolanda didn't say a word.
Aaron tried to pull the quilt, "Come out."
As soon as his hand touched the quilt, she pulled it back immediately. In a word, she would guard against him and would not say anything.
Seeing Aaron's face darken, Lenny coughed and said, "Mr. Jensen."
This hint was meaningful and timely.
Aaron withdrew his hand.
He paused and sat on the edge of the bed.
He felt helpless.
"Where are you going at night?" His tone softened.
Pursing her lips, Yolanda tried her best to calm herself down.
"You asked me to learn to get used to it and you said you would be good to me. But now you dislike me and ask me to stay away from you. It's useless for me to say so many apologies."
"If I don't leave, do I have to stay and be hated by you?" After a pause, she added, "anyway, it's not the first time you've driven me away."
These were not completely acting. To a certain extent, Aaron's words did hurt Yolanda's heart.
Now she just exaggerated the sadness.
Aaron didn't expect that he would be the one being attacked.
And he sounded like an unfaithful man who liked the new and tired of the old.
He closed his eyes and took several deep breaths.
Aaron had always been a tough side. He had never shown mercy to anyone in his work or private life.
Maybe it was because he had been so tough in the past more than 20 years that God couldn't stand it anymore, so he sent such a tail to restrict him everywhere, change him, and provoke him on his principles and bottom line.
The room was quiet. Aaron frowned and tried several times, but he still couldn't say those words.
"You come out first."
Wouldn't it be embarrassing to come out like this?
However, it was obvious that Yolanda hadn't done such a thing before. She had been suffocated for only a few minutes. On second thought, she had to finish her play as soon as possible.
She might as well give both of them a step-down.
So she poked her head out of the corner and said, "coax me and I'll come out soon."
The sudden look in their eyes made Aaron a little stunned.
It was the first time that he had seen her naked face.
Her skin was very clear white, and there was a faint small wound on the bridge of her nose. Her long curly eyelashes pressed a shadow under her eyes, and her lips were red and looked very soft.
Aaron admitted that she was beautiful.
And different from those actresses who had cosmetic surgeries in the company, she was not vulgar.
But somehow, he felt like he had seen her somewhere.
But it didn't make sense.
Aaron could remember all people he met, so it was impossible for him not to remember who she was.
The only explanation might be that she had gradually developed a habit in his subconsciousness these days.
This was also the last thing he wanted to happen in the past. Another person appeared in his life and slowly became a habit. Every move of him began to affect himself.
Noticing that the man didn't say anything, Yolanda was about to draw her head back, "Forget it."
Aaron came to his senses.
He had never seen such a pretentious woman.
He quickly reached out and pulled her out before she hid back.
"Why do you have to be coaxed when you have done something wrong? Who gives you the right to be so sentimental?"
Yolanda blinked her eyes and said, "you."
Aaron was Stunned.
You.
You spoiled her!
Weren't you responsible for this?
The soft and pitiful word broke the last principle in Aaron's heart.
The floor was tidied up, and the play returned to peace.
Her tears were not in vain, and the dolls were not in vain.
Anyway, Yolanda won.
Although Aaron still had a long face, it was a kind of coaxing for him to ask Lenny to call the hotel restaurant to prepare her favorite coconut cheese.
Yolanda wasn't a greedy woman. She stopped crying and flattered with a smile, "I know you are the best."
Aaron glanced at her and ignored her.
He was angry but he had to coax her instead.
She was so arrogant and she loved crying, but he had no way.
In the evening, he postponed the dinner party to look for Yolanda. After they came back, they quarreled. After the quarrel finally subsided, Aaron was also tired. He stood up and said, "Let's go to the dining room and have dinner."
Yolanda had already had dinner at home, but she had to eat again.
Fortunately, it was already past the peak time of dinner. There were almost no people in the restaurant, and the chances of meeting acquaintances were greatly reduced.
They found a window seat and sat down.
The waiter handed Aaron the menu. Aaron took a look at it and asked, "what would you like to eat?"
Lowering her head, Yolanda pretended to play with her phone to avoid the waiter, "No, thanks. I'll eat coconut cheese."
Without thinking too much, Aaron casually pointed at a few dishes.
After ordering, he knocked two times on the table and said, "give me your phone."
"What are you doing?"
Noticing that she acted slowly, Aaron took the phone from her hand directly, "Password."
"What are you doing?" She asked warily.
"What? There is a secret on the phone?"
There was indeed a secret, but it was not a big secret. There was only Phoebe on her WhatsApp.
However, Yolanda had already hidden the app in a secret place, so he couldn't find it easily.
"What secrets can I have?" Afraid of arousing Aaron's suspicion, Yolanda pretended to be indifferent and said, "1357246, Just take a look."
This was the password she used to use.
Aaron input the numbers one by one and unlocked the phone successfully. Then he dialed his number.
Two seconds later, his phone rang.
Her phone was thrown back, "Save my number."
Stunned, Yolanda said subconsciously, "Didn't you say that you didn't have to exchange phone numbers with me and you wouldn't have time to chat with me?"
Aaron was embarrassed for a second.
"Did I say that I will chat with you?"
"If you don't want to save it, you can delete it."
Yolanda shut her mouth.
She thought, "It's you who asked me to save your phone number. Is this the attitude of asking for my number? You said it was unnecessary before, and now you are the one who wants me to save it."
What bad temper.
Although she was not convinced, she managed to hold back her anger.
She knew when to stop.
After all, she was the one who took advantage tonight. What she needed to do now was to continue to satisfy Aaron's vanity and let him experience the benefits of "coaxing" his sister.
So she lowered her head and saved the number. After typing a few words, she faced her phone to Aaron.
"How about this?"
There was a title on the screen.
"Dear Brother"
Aaron looked away unnaturally, picked up the glass in front of him, and took a sip.
Everyone could see that the corners of his mouth showed much enjoyment.
The storm was over and the sky was clear.
Just as the scene was harmonious and their affection reached a new level, Lenny's mobile phone rang.
He picked it up, whispered a few words, and hung up. Then he told Aaron.
"It's Blair. She said that she has made an appointment with Miss Watts to meet at the Mio Restaurant at eleven o'clock tomorrow morning and the seat has been arranged."
Miss Watts?
All of a sudden, it occurred to Yolanda that Lenny had told her about the "private affairs" of Aaron coming to Darlington.
The Mio Restaurant was one of the top restaurants in Darlington. It meant that this meal was very important to Aaron.
After pondering for a while, Yolanda couldn't help but ask, "Brother, who is Miss Watts?"
Aaron ignored her.
"Girlfriend?"
"Someone you like?"
"Are you going on a date?"
After a long pause, Aaron finally raised his head and looked at her, "Yes, so what?"
