Shelbrooke stood before Reyns as they spoke about the new person that will be joining their team soon. He frowned at who it was. With the way most of the people are leaving Zeidan's side to come to his, he was sure victory will become his result in the long run.
"Who is it?"
"I don't know but I think she has introduced herself by killing most of the guards that tried to stop her from seeing Luana. Unlike the ones we've had before, this one's unbelievably skillful." Reyns replied.
As if on cue, someone stepped in behind Shelbrooke together with Luana. She had on a black cloak but left her eyes to be exposed. The sun shone on them and they looked like gemstones with their purple colors.
"There she is."
Shelbrooke looked behind him and he was taken aback by what he just saw.
"Weird choice of outfits to protect one from the sun, the rare color of eyes, skillful in swordsmanship. It can only mean one thing."
"Shelbrooke, meet Maya, a Spanish ninja that has become my friend over time." Luana introduced, placing her arm around the cloaked woman's neck. "Right, Maya?"
Maya nodded, eyeing Shelbrooke.
"How do I know she's not here to kill me or snitch on us?"
"I..." She made to speak but Luana cut in.
"Because I didn't. She wouldn't snitch on us. She helped kill Chloe, so...if that's any assurance." Luana looked from Shelbrooke to Reyns and the former nodded.
"Good."
"Maya, meet Shelbrooke. King of the Werecats. You can skip the bowing or curtesy or whatever..."
"What?" Maya glanced at her. "I don't bow."
"Oh." There was silence and Luana looked at Shelbrooke from the corner of her eyes.
"I'm certain you don't do both," Shelbrooke spoke up, dipping his hands in his pockets. Maya looked away and he took some steps forward toward her. "And I hope you won't betray. Because my reward for betrayal is death."
"You can count on me."
"Better." He heaved a sigh of relief.
"I just thought about it now, I've sent Hailey on an errand since last night but I haven't heard from her. Do you have any idea what's wrong in Vampire City?" Luana said, turning to face Maya.
Maya shook her head under the cloak. "I left Vampire City yesterday evening."
"Oh," Luana said shortly.
"What did you do?" Maya asked quickly.
"I asked her to poison Aurora's food. At least that would make her regret coming to Vampire City and she'll leave as fast as possible. Only then can Zeidan be vulnerable to our attacks."
She explained. When the rest looked at her blankly, knowing fully well she never does things without an in-depth reason, she sighed and decided to speak out.
"Fine. I gave her a poison that was mixed which means it would take a long while to work. By then, they would have found a doctor and diagnosed she was poisoned. I made it so Hailey could be caught by asking her to keep an eye on them. Then, Lyne can conclude that almost everyone in the city hates her and they want her out of the City."
"Does this have to do with the feelings you still have for Zeidan?" Reyns asked and she looked at him.
His eyes held a glint of pain that for a second she wondered if they had a deeper meaning.
"What do you mean?" Luana asked.
"You're still in love with him. That's why you want to punish the woman that made you lose him." He replied and she walked up to him, brows furrowing.

"And why are you concerned about that? Why are you worked up about it?"
"I think it's high time you both put a ring on it and let me rest for goodness' sake," Shelbrooke added but the two just kept looking at each other.
"I'm done settling your rifts. And as for you Luana," he faced her. "Why are you still worried about Zeidan being with another woman?"
"I..." Luana chuckled. "Really? That's what you all think? I loved Zeidan, okay? But not anymore. I'm just securing our child's future."
"Gabe?" Reyns asked and she looked at him, nodding.
"What made you think I'll leave you?" As she looks into his eyes, something gave her an answer and she knew in her heart that he was really afraid to let her go but he'd deny it, as usual, pretending not to care.
"Because I felt you don't..." Was he really admitting to thinking she will leave him? "You don't act like you want to stick with me." He looked away and she rushed to grab his face in her hands.
"Sweetheart, I'm securing our child's future of being safe and being Vampire city's only hope. Without Aurora, he'll be next in line as long as Lyne leaves him as well broken because Zeidan is the reason why her daughter dies. Our plan is still in place." She explained, looking into his eyes.
"And don't give me that emotional bullshit. We're not married or in love. Okay?"
He grabbed her hands and lowered them, his eyes fixed on her face.
"You may not know how I feel towards you but I want you to know that you're the reason why no one ever loves you." He moves but only for a short while before turning back as someone placed a strong hand around Luana's neck with a sword, threatening to slash her throat if anyone moves.
Five more men surrounded them in the fields and the one holding Luana hostage yelled as they moved to grab their weapons.
"Drop your weapons, now!" He said and they all raised their hands.
Luana was now quivering as she burned within her to know who it is. The person removed his mask and she could feel his breath on her skin as he spoke.
"Remember me?" He must be referring to the rest in front of her because she could barely turn her neck, let alone see who it is.
"Dean?" Reyns said and her heart skipped.
"That's right. It's me. And I've come again to take what's rightfully mine. Her life!"
"I'd think twice about that if I were you," Maya spoke up and Luana realized she had almost forgotten she was there.
"Who are you, dark ghost?" Dean snarled.
"Oh, I see. That gives the confidence. You're a Wolf." Maya said.
"My brother was killed by this bitch! I'm going to make sure she follows suit." He gripped his hand tighter around her throat, choking her.
"Ahh." Luana gasped, hands clutching his strong arm.
"Unfortunately, we all don't think so," Maya said.
"What do you m..."
Before he could complete his words, like a lightning, Maya threw a sword that hit his hand and stuck to it. Dean released her neck and staggered backward. She ran into Reyns hands as Maya grabbed her two long swords and began to fight them. She fought them for a long time and killed the five men before facing Dean who was quite stronger and skillful. However, as he ran to her from behind, she raised her legs without looking back and kicked him in the stomach making him stagger backward and she finished him by slashing his chest with her sword.
Blood splattered over her face and when she turned, Shelbrooke stepped forward slightly, clapping.
"Welcome to the team, young lady."
