Chapter 180 The Consequence Of Perjury

Chapter 180 The Consequence of Perjury
The police didn't expect them to suddenly change their mind, but they were just carrying out their official duties, so no one could say anything about it.
"There is no use arguing with me. Explain it to the county magistrate!"
Then, Su Jiuyue and her husband were taken to the magistrate's office with a dumbfounded look on their faces.
But they were tenants here and had done their filing at the magistrate's office. Besides, this was none of their business so they were soon released.
However, Guo Jinfan couldn't get away with this easily. He was escorted to the court and waiting for the magistrate to question him about his missing filial piety.
His father, whose bark was worse than his bite, would not see him in trouble and would come up with a good explanation for him.
Unexpectedly, the county magistrate did not go with the routine but asked him directly, "Guo Jinfan, let me ask you. Where were you on the 16th of last month?"
Guo Jinfan's face turned pale, then he quickly lowered his head and said, "Nowhere. I was at home with my parents for the New Year."
The county magistrate turned his head to look at Ada, who was sitting next to him, and saw that he was just drinking tea, not giving any hint.
So he forced himself to continue interrogating, "Is it true?"
Guo Jinfan gave his father a wink with his pale face, "It's true! Of course it's true! I'm not lying!"
The county magistrate looked at the elderly Mr. Guo, "Old man, is what your son said true?"
The elderly Mr. Guo knelt beside his son with mixed feelings. This was his son! How could he let anything happen to him?
He pondered for a moment before kowtowing, "Your Excellency, it is true. It was just after the Lantern Festival and there were still a few sweet dumplings left at home, so I asked his mother to cook them for him. I remember it clearly."
The county magistrate subconsciously glanced at Ada again, but he still didn't react, so he cleared his throat again and then banged his gavel, "All right, I have figured out what happened. It was just a misunderstanding. You two are father and son. Don't make any more fuss. If you are reported to me again, I'll have you both locked up for half a month!"
As soon as he finished his words, the teacup behind him was placed heavily on the table.
He immediately stop talking. He was a little confused as to why the senior Magistrate Zhang suddenly arrived and specified that he should ask such a question.
But he hadn't got anything out of it, had he?
Ada was speechless. How dared the county magistrate blur the line between right and wrong even when he was right here? He couldn't imagine how this would turn out if he had not been here.
He spoke up, "Guo Shun, do you know what the consequences of perjury are?"
The elderly Mr. Guo winced. Although he didn't know who this man was, he knew that this man must be a big deal as the County Magistrate was so scornful of him.
His son was actually not at home on the 16th of last month. He was not at home even on the first day of the New Year. The reason he was so angry with his son was that he hadn't come back for New Year's Eve and people were laughing at him for having such a son.
But there was no turning back, and he would rather let things happened to himself than to his son.
"Your Excellency, I am not lying. My unfilial son was indeed at home on the 16th of last month."

Ada said in a cold voice, "Do you think that I asked you this question for no reason and without evidence? A bunch of fools!"
Guo Jinfan's whole body froze and his heart raced at the thought of what he had done.
As expected, he saw the mister sitting at the back of the room stand up and walk over to the county magistrate, picking up the decree on the desk and throwing it directly in front of him.
"Arrest Guo Jinfan and interrogate him later! Guo Shun, for the sake of his old age, can go back and do self-introspections at home for now!"
Both Guo Jinfan and the elderly Mr. Guo kowtowed their heads so hard, trying to make Ada change his mind but he didn't let up on them.
Su Jiuyue watched in amazement as the whole interrogation had nothing to do with the breaking in. She guessed that Guo Jinfan was involved in another case.
They went home together. When she was about to comfort the old couple, they were already talking to each other, "You have to do something! Our son can't be arrested! Our grandson is still so young, and he can't have a father with a criminal record."
Guo Shun nodded along with a frown, "What can I do? We don't even know what he has done. Do you know where he went on the 16th of last month?"
Mrs. Guo shook her head, and Guo Shun looked at his daughter-in-law, "Do you know?"
She also shook her head. Guo Shun sighed, "What can we do? You all know nothing. How are we going to get him out?"
Mrs. Guo suddenly remembered something and looked at him, "Let's go find Officer Cui! Isn't he close to the county magistrate? If he can talk to the county magistrate, it shouldn't be too difficult to get our son out, right?"
Guo Shun sighed, "That's easy for you to say. Don't you know that Officer Cui is greedy? It would cost a lot to get help from him!"
They had been messed up by their son all these years and had no savings left.
As soon as Guo Jinfan's wife heard him, she knew that her husband could still be saved so she immediately knelt down and tugged his pant, begging, "Father, please, please save Guo Jinfan! If something happens to him, how do our family continue our life?"
Mrs. Guo also said, "Yes! If something happens to my son, I won't be able to live either!"
Guo Shun was helpless with some tears coming down, "Alas! We'll have to sell the house then!"
Su Jiuyue found out the price of the courtyard the next day. Because of the drought, no one had much money left. In addition, the couple wanted to sell it quickly and they had no time to wait for a good offer, so they could only put up a price of eighty taels.
Su Jiuyue wanted to buy the house. As soon as she got the news, she came back to discuss with Wu Xiyuan, "Xiyuan, for 80 taels, should we buy the house so that we can bring our parents to live with us?"
Wu Xiyuan didn't think it was necessary as he was due to pass the countryside exams next month and would be going straight to Yong Zhou City.
But he wasn't totally against it. He just let Su Jiuyue know his worries.
Su Jiuyue said with a smile, "I do hope that you can pass the exams in one go. It's just that the price of this house is really fair now. We can buy it for ourselves or for our parents. Even if no one lives here, we can still earn a lot of money every month by renting it out."
Seeing that she already had her own plans, Wu Xiyuan didn't insist any further, "Okay, let's do it."
Su Jiuyue was very excited to have her first house in her life, but she was not yet overwhelmed by the excitement, so she said with a smile on her face, "I'll go back tomorrow and discuss it with mother!
