Chapter 205 Fainting in Full View of People
Yi pressed Shaoling on the stone stool and poured a cup of wine for him with a smile. "So I invite you to enjoy life with us."
Seeing how sweetly his daughter smiled at Shaoling, Zhuang felt somewhat jealous and coughed immediately to interrupt their interaction.
"Yi, can you fill this cup for me?"
Yi nodded and refilled Zhuang's cup before sitting down between the two men.
Shaoling took a sip of the western wine, which he tasted for the first time.
In this life, he was a prince depreciated by his father. The mission for him was always about leading troops in battle.
He did not mind suffering on the battlefield if he could take military power, but he was actually used as a pawn. His father did not trust him at all and arranged for two generals to "support" him. In fact, the two generals were sent to restrain him. There were only ten thousand soldiers under his command.
Never had his father rewarded him with such a good thing as western wine.
But it did not matter, as long as he could feel loved here.
He took a mouthful of wine. Unlike those he had drunk after coming into power in his last life, the wine tasted pretty mellow and sweet.
Subconsciously, he looked at Yi, who happened to look his way.
Meeting his eyes, Yi beamed a warm smile at him. "How is it? Delicious?"
Not to mention such precious western wine, Shaoling would drink anything she gave him without a frown, even if it was poison.
Throughout the Zhou Kingdom, only a few people were fortunate enough to enjoy a cup of this wine. It was really a blessing for him to be entertained so nicely.
"The wine poured by you naturally tastes excellent." He smiled slightly and gazed at Yi as if there had been only her in this yard.
Getting shy, Yi looked away with her cheeks redder than the sunset.
Zhuang got goosebumps all over. He was still here! How dare Shaoling talk to his daughter in such a frivolous way?
If he was not present, this guy might do something even worse to Yi.
Zhuang decided to keep a closer eye on his daughter and thought it best to prevent them from seeing each other before the wedding.
As they talked, Huiyin and Zongyuan went out.
Zhuang came to his senses and walked up to them. "Your Highnesses, it's late now. We've prepared dinner. Would you like to dine before leaving?"
Zongyuan did not intend to leave General Su's residence, which he thought was the safest place.
He was worried about his father's health, or he would stay here shamelessly until General Su returned to the capital with his troops.
Therefore, he replied at once, "I have no place to stay. General Su, could you get a room for me?"
Zhuang knew Zongyuan's situation and agreed without hesitation.
As for Huiyin, she did not want to show respect to Zhuang and refused directly, "I have some important things to do. I hope you'll enjoy yourselves."
Undoubtedly, Shaoling would not go back. Even if Zhuang did not expect him to stay, Shaoling pretended as if he had not noticed Zhuang's displeasure.
It seemed that Zhuang could not get this distinguished prince away today.
Zhuang sighed helplessly. How he wished he could kick Shaoling away directly! Reluctant as he was, he took Shaoling and Zongyuan to the next yard, where a banquet had been prepared.
In other families, men and women usually sat separately.
But that was not the case in the Su family. Although Yi was a female, she was raised as a male. Besides, she was the only woman here, so there was no need to set another table.
They sat around the table, with Yi between Shaoling and Zhuang, and Zongyuan opposite her.
Soon, the servants brought delicacies over. Since Zongyuan had the highest title, other people had to wait for him to eat first.
But this time, Zongyuan did not take his chopsticks. He looked at his brother and said respectfully, "Brother, you first."
However, Shaoling turned to his father-in-law. "Mr. Su, you first."
Sitting at the same table with two princes, how dare Zhuang eat first? If others knew about this, they would think that he was plotting something.
Therefore, he waved his hands hurriedly. "No, no, I don't have this right."
As such, Shaoling could only take his chopsticks. He got a piece of steamed bass, dipped it into the sauce, and put it into Yi's bowl.
Eyes lighting up immediately, Yi praised him gaily, "It's so nice of you."
Shaoling smiled. He observed her for a long while and noted that her eyes were fixed on the steamed bass. As her fiancé, he would naturally fulfill her.
While Zongyuan felt nothing, Zhuang curled up his lips with a seemingly expressionless face.
Yi put a piece of roasted meat into Shaoling's bowl. "Here you are."
Seeing that, Zhung asked with dissatisfaction, "What about your dad?"
Yi hurriedly put a piece of vegetable into Zhuang's bowl, which made him beam with joy again.
There were only four people around the table. Now that she had helped two of them to the dishes, it was not reasonable to ignore the third person.
Yi thought for a while. She was going to marry Shaoling the next year, and by then she would be Zongyuan's sister-in-law.
As such, it was not a big deal to help Zongyuan to some food.
Therefore, she put a piece of lamb into Zongyuan's bowl. "Please try the lamb. The roasted lamb cooked by this chef tastes great."
Zongyuan was stunned for a moment. When he came to his senses and thanked Yi, the lamb in his bowl was gone.
As he raised his head, he saw his brother putting the lamb into his mouth in a serious manner.
Being still young, he did not understand adults' complicated thoughts. He just wondered why his brother grabbed the food from his bowl.
Shaoling swallowed the lamb before making an excuse. "The lamb has become cool. You're still young and shouldn't eat this."
It was the first time for Zongyuan to be cared for by his brother, so he nodded obediently. "Thank you, Brother. I see."
Yi gave Shaoling a stare. When she was about to get some food for herself, Zongyuan suddenly fainted in front of them.
