Chapter 98 Make Every Possible Effort
Upon walking out of the yard of the Liu Family, she found the tall horse standing in front of the door.
The horse was too big!
They had seen so many officials in the City of Yongzhou. But their horses looked shorter than this horse.
Though her son was tall, he looked a little petite when standing next to the horse.
Su Jiuyue came up to Wu Xiyuan and said, "Grandma is terribly ill now and we have to ask my master to treat her. Xiyuan, try to ask it whether it could help us pick the master up."
Wu Xiyuan was obedient and turned around to touch the horse's face, "Did you hear what my daughter-in-law said? My grandma is sick. Can you send us to the master?"
The horse snorted. Wu Xiyuan looked back at his mother, "Mum! Honghong agreed, but it's a little hungry and has no strength."
Liu Cuihua was overjoyed and didn't even have time to think about why her son could understand what the horse said.
"That's easy. We have grass at home."
In fact, they had stored up the grass to be used to light fire in the winter. They took some to feed the horse.
At long last the horse was full up and then neighed. Liu Cuihua became energetic, "Is it ready?"
Wu Xiyuan turned around and smiled, "Right!"
Liu Cuihua was relieved to hear that. But the problem was who would pick up Master Huang.
Su Jiuyue and Wu Xiyuan didn't know where he was, and only Liu Cuihua knew because she had sent food to him. But Liu Cuihua couldn't communicate with the horse.
Finally Liu Cuihua decided to let Wu Xiyuan go with her, but she was concerned about Su Jiuyue.
"Jiuyue, are you OK if you are alone here?"
Su Jiuyue answered, "Don't worry. I'll be waiting for you at home."
The horse had no bridle or saddle blanket, so they had to hold it by the neck.
Seeing that the horse ran so fast, Su Jiuyue could not help but worry whether her mother-in-law, who was getting old, could stand the speed.
The Liu Family had two grandsons, the eldest grandson Dagui and the second eldest grandson Changgui, and one granddaughter Chunmei.
Chunmei was two years older than Su Jiuyue. She was engaged to one man and would marry him in the next spring.
Seeing that Su Jiuyue had been watching Wu Xiyuan and Liu Cuihua disappearing, Chunmei sighed, "That's nice."
Su Jiuyue turned her head to squint at her, "What's up?"
Chunmei smiled at her kindly, "Nothing. You are getting along well with your mother-in-law. I don't know whether my mother-in-law will be so nice to me in the future."
After saying that, she carefully looked at the appearance of Su Jiuyue, "But you are so beautiful. Even if she has hot temper, she would not get angry with you."
When she was young, Su Jiuyue had been doing housework all day and taking care of children at home. So she was dark and thin, and never felt that she was good-looking.
But since she came to the Wu Family, they were very nice to her. She did not even have to do any housework, and she ate well. Therefore, she grew taller and more beautiful than before. Her outstanding appearance was finally revealed to everyone.
Hearing her compliment, she felt embarrassed and lowered her head, "You are so polite. I am not as good-looking as you say. My mother-in-law is good-tempered."
Chunmei also liked to listen to her, who had gentle voice and seemed to have no temper.
Hearing what she said, Chunmei couldn't help laughing, "You are the only one who think my aunt has a good temper. My father used to say that I take a lot after my aunt in temper, and we are both hot tempered. So I know my aunt has a bad temper."
Since their first meeting, Liu Cuihua had been very gentle with Su Jiuyue, and Su Jiuyue had never found that she was hot tempered.
Sometimes she was indeed impolite to her second sister-in-law, who made mistakes first.
"You are so good-looking, and I believe your mother-in-law and husband will be loath to get angry with you."
While speaking, she wore a smile on the corners of her mouth, and the pink flesh on the plump cheeks bulged. No one could resist squeezing her face with hands.
Su Jiuyue did not expect that she would squeeze her face. She failed to dodge, so she simply let her bully the flesh on her face.
It was the first time that Chunmei saw such a well-behaved younger sister. On the contrary, all the children in their village were naughty.
That was why her aunt loved her so much. If her cousin Xiyuan hadn't have an accident, he would have loved her a lot.
What she didn't know was that her cousin Xiyuan was loving his wife even though he had an accident.
"You are not only so lovable but also honey-lipped."
"I'm telling the truth!"
"Don't be garrulous. Your husband has long gone!"
A single girl joked about her but was not shy at all. It was thus clear that she was really ferocious.
"I'm not watching him." Su Jiuyue pursed up her lips, with her cheeks flamed with embarrassment.
"You are like a awaiting stone, but you didn't admit it. Haha, you are so interesting."
......
Grandma was sick, so they did not dare to make too much noise. They went into the room after joking about a few words.
To prevent her grandma from catching cold, Chunmei stuffed the bed flue with a few pieces of wood.
As a guest, Su Jiuyue could do nothing.
She sat obediently in the central room and paid attention to the situation inside and outside the room. Though she was bored, she did not dare to move, for fear that she could cause trouble to the Liu Family.
Suddenly, grandma coughed again. Ms. Zhou helped her smooth her breath while crying out, "Mum! Don't scare me! Mum!"
Liu Dalin and his younger brother Liu Xiaolin also hastily ran in the room, "What's going on?"
"Do something! Mum can't breathe and her face was turning green."
They were was anxious, but they could do nothing about it. Standing at the back of the crowd, Su Jiuyue suddenly said, "Uncle, may I have a try? I learned a little from my master. But I'm not completely sure I can do that......"
Her voice sank even lower as she went on. She was not supposed to stand out. But the situation was getting serious, and grandma could die at any time.
Liu Dalin once heard his younger sister say the suggestion, and he did not agree. But now he should make every possible effort to save his mother.
His face was overcast with sadness and a thin layer of sweat was seeped from his forehead because of anxiety.
He was silent. Everyone was looking at him and Su Jiuyue.
Just when Su Jiuyue wanted to get cold feet, he finally nodded, "Okay, what are you going to do?"
Su Jiuyue looked at Ms. Zhou, "Aunt, could you please bring a needle to me?"
Although Ms. Zhou couldn't figure out what she was going to do, she answered and hurriedly left the room.
She came back after a while and handed the needle to Su Jiuyue.
Su Jiuyue lit the kerosene lamp on the table and put the needle on the flame for a while. She then explained, "I should have used a silver needle, but we have no silver needle, so I'm using it to replace the silver one."
