Chapter 74 The Bad Things Came in Succession
At noon, they shared the two steamed buns. Luckily, they found some wild mushrooms on the way up the mountain. Therefore, they went down the mountain before it got dark.
But something unexpected may happen any time. They had got only halfway when it began to get dark.
Su Jiuyue walked ahead, suddenly stopped and looked up at the sky. She said, "It's going to snow."
However, Huang Husheng was still in high spirits. He read a poem, rubbing his chin, "With dusk, the snow impending. Care to have a cup, or no?"
Although Su Jiuyue did not know the poem, she understood the general idea and asked him, "Do you want to drink?"
Huang Husheng laughed, "It's just a poem. Hurry up, otherwise we have to walk in the dark."
Su Jiuyue merely said, "OK", and stepped up.
They had got only halfway when large flakes of snow began swiftly to fall.
Su Jiuyue stepped back and supported Huang Husheng with her hands, "Master, be careful. The road is slippery in the dark."
Huang Husheng nodded with satisfaction inwardly, thinking that Su Jiuyue is a good girl, and it is right to accept this disciple.
It doesn't matter if it was only snowing. But the wind began to blow northwesterly, making it difficult to move forward.
They found the road was to be out of sight, so it was dangerous for them to stay in the mountain.
Su Jiuyue took a flint with herself. But the wind was blowing so heavily that no fire could be lighted.
Huang Husheng sighed, "What a bad luck!" He really had an unlucky year, and accidents happened every time when he went out.
He knew that Su Jiuyue was worried about him, otherwise she would have left the mountain and would not have been snowed in the mountain if she were here on her own.
"Jiuyue, go down the mountain first, and I'll walk slowly by myself."
Su Jiuyue was biting the bullet to support him. Upon hearing what he said, she disregarded for all formality and immediately interrupted him, "Come on, how could I leave you alone? And I'm familiar with the road in the mountain, so I can find my way even in the dark. If I left you alone, you would be lost in the mountain! What's worse, it's snowing heavily now, you'll freeze to death in such a cold mountain!"
Even if she didn't tell him, Huang Husheng knew the situation.
He would not only freeze to death, but also be eaten by any fierce beasts, because the beasts had nothing to eat in the mountain.
Su Jiuyue refused to leave him alone even when he scolded her angrily.
Finally Huang Husheng became tired, so he shut his mouth and tried his best to follow her.
It was getting darker and darker. A deep calm filled the mountain, and only the whistling wind could be heard.
But Su Jiuyue felt more insecure. Suddenly, a wolf howl broke the silence, and they looked pale......
Huang Husheng no longer told Su Jiuyue to leave. Given they could not tell where the wolf was, he thought that it was more dangerous for Su Jiuyue to be alone.
They trotted down the mountain in the dark. Huang Husheng had a nasty fall.
Su Jiuyue hurriedly squatted down to help him, and Huang Husheng stood up with the help of her.
"Ah......" Huang Husheng drew in a cold breath.
Su Jiuyue was also shocked and hastened to ask, "What happened to you?"
Huang Husheng forced a smile for the bad things came in succession, "I twisted my ankle."
Su Jiuyue put down the pack basket from her back and carried it in the front. She then squatted down, "Let me carry you."
