The next day when I woke up it was quite warm, so I decided to wear a sleeveless top and shorts and after getting dressed I went to see Marc. I was a little worried about him. I was informed by the nurse that she had given him a sedative and I should not disturb him the whole day and let him sleep so that he can regain his strength faster. I did not say anything but I really wanted to see him once, I controlled myself and walked away. As I walked down I discovered the house was large but the design made it easy to find my way out and I was soon standing once again in the Hall. I hesitated a moment, wondering whether to try one of the closed wooden doors leading out of the room or whether to go into the garden. I opened the door of the small room on my right and opened it and someone emerged. I looked at her closely and saw that she had become slim and leaner than I had seen her a long time back, she was wearing very fashionable clothes but her face was pure and beautiful and it was none other than Marc's younger sister Ria Garcia. She was a true Italian beauty. Her father's Italian genes, plus her mother's American genes had given her quite unique sharp features. She smiled shyly and I responded warmly to her. “ Hello Ria, how have you been,” I said holding out my hand and having it firmly shaken. "Hi Carmen, I'm so pleased to meet you again, I hope you are adjusting to the weather out here?” She asked quietly. “We were a little worried because it is quite warmer here and in London, it is quite cold right? I know that you hate flying as I hate flying myself.” Ria added with an understanding smile it always makes me feel very sick. “ Ria shrugged with remembered taste and I laughed softly. “Please, Come and sit down lunch won’t be ready till one o'clock, so we have time to talk a little,” she said, Slowly leading me into the small sitting room. It was a comfortable room with worn-out bookshelves, which had a different variety of books. The shelves were packed with paper bags in a highly old fashioned way and I was not surprised to learn that it was where the family relaxed when they were alone, though I found it a little messy. I remembered how Marc would be fussy, whenever I left any books around the apartment when we were married. “You do not mind sitting here? Ria said apologetically. “It is not that elegant …” “I don't mind at all.” I said with a smile, as I sunk onto a chair. “So how is London, Ria asked. “You live in the north don't you? It is very cold and it rains much of the time is that so?” She asks in slightly puzzled tones. “I live in Yorkshire, “I added with love. “Sometimes it snows for days in winter and even in summer, the weather is not reliable. But it's unbelievably beautiful. The fields are green in the spring and summers are filled with wildflowers. Right now, everything is a little drab and dusty but within a few weeks the leaves will be turning color. I am so sorry am I boring you?” I enquired her laughing apologetically as I lost track of what I was speaking and was blabbering away. “No, no please don't stop I'm really interested,” Ria interposed. “I learned about London only through the Internet and Instagram pages, that I follow. Do you live in some remote area or do you live in proper London?” I laughed. “Are you sure you really want to hear all these or are you just being polite? I mean I do not want to bore you.”” I said uncertainty “Please Carmen, I'm really interested,” Ria said quickly. “I'm not trying to be polite or anything, I have never traveled to the UK as my brother wouldn't allow me to go there. He is overly protective,” she said a little wistfully. “I would really love to hear about London.” “Well, I live in Yorkshire, where I work in an editorial office. I'm living in a duplex house, that's a row of houses all showing together to save space,” I explained. “It’s tucked into the side of the hills, it's quite a small house but we have a living room and a large kitchen. And we have a small front garden and garage at the back of the house. The back garden is surprisingly big it was very useful for Tio to play in when he was younger.” I said carelessly only to give myself a mental shake as I saw the embarrassment on Ria’s face. Fortunately, at that moment there was a tap on the door and Ada entered to announce that the lunch was ready both I and Ria were far too pleased to follow the housekeeper into the small dining room. I sighed inwardly but forced myself to compliment Ria upon their attractive surroundings. The doors opened into the inner courtyard, where a variety of plants were planted in small pots and the room looked like a garden. We both made ourselves comfortable and Ada proceeded to serve large bowls of soup with crispy homemade rolls. We both ate in silence we were both hungry and did not want to do injustice to Ada’s cooking. It was Ria who finally spoke first. “Tio is your son right ?’ “Yes, I'm sorry if I embarrassed you by mentioning him.” I shrugged expressively and continued,” he's such an important part of my life that it's difficult not to talk about home without mentioning him.” “He must be quite old now?” Ria asked politely. “Yes he has just recently had his fifth birthday which reminds me, I have to call him today in the evening as he will be waiting for my call. It seems he has prepared a long shopping list for me.” I smiled as I thought about Tio and his demands. But he is my only son so I have to pamper him and now that I am away I need to call him more or my son will be sad. “Show me his picture, I really want to see his photo. “Ria said excitedly. I took out my phone to show Tio’s picture and Mathias entered whistling away happily. When he saw us both seated there and having lunch he joined us. He was in chatting mode and Ria and I smiled at him lovingly as he talked continuously. After that, I completely forgot to show Ria, Tio’s picture, as Mathias was busy telling his tales about how he had caught his employee snoring away in the office and tickled him to the edge and he promised he would never, ever sleep in the office again. He was mimicking it so well that I and Ria were busy laughing and I realized, that it has been a long time since I had laughed so heartily. After we finished our lunch Mathias excused himself and walked off toward his room. As I saw him walking away I realized that Mattias had arrived at the right time or I would have shown Tio's picture to Ria and I am sure Ria would have seen the truth.
