MARA'S POV
I was in America when I found out on the news that my husband had an accident. I immediately booked a flight back to the Philippines after hearing the news. I still do not know the exact details of the accident because I was in a hurry to get back here.
As soon as the plane landed, I immediately called Yelle to ask for an update about Maru. As per her, Maru's condition is now stable. According to the doctor, he almost lost his life because he removed his seatbelt.
When I saw our company driver, I asked him to send me straight to the hospital where my husband was confined. Even though Yelle told me that he is stable now, I still can't help to worry about him.
When we arrived at the hospital where my husband was, I was trembling as I went inside. Then I saw my husband in the private room; he looked so weak and had full of bruises on his face. I can feel my knees weaken from the sight of it. I was trembling as I go near him.
Maru's mom immediately hugged me. I didn't notice the people inside because I was so worried and scared for my husband. As I look at Maru's mom, I also look around the room. Our parents were there. Also, Manang Biding, Manang Lucy, James, Yelle, and Alex were there.
"Thank God he's okay now. His body didn't have any severe damage. Thank God for the airbags that protect him." Maru's mom sobbed.
"Has he woken up yet?" I asked weakly.
She shook her head. "Not yet, Mara. He hasn't awakened yet since the operation. But as per the doctor, it was normal because he was still gaining energy from the accident."
I wanted to touch Maru's face, but I was afraid he might get hurt. So, in the end, I just held his hand.
"Hon, I'm here. Please wake up." I said, crying.
"What happened, hon? I just went to America then I will receive the news that you met an accident." I said while sobbing.
"He was with Jana when the accident happened," James said.
I furrowed from what I heard. I turn to James.
"Where is she?" I asked him.
"She's in the other room. She isn't hurt much because your husband protected her."
I felt pain in my chest. I look at Maru. Jana means so much to you, right, Maru? You can even sacrifice yourself to protect her.
My tears kept falling. I am feeling a lot of emotions now. I do not know if I will be annoyed, jealous, hurt or pity him. I want to get mad at him because, to save that woman, he is willing to risk his life.
If he ends up dying, what will happen to me? What will happen to our daughter? Did he even think of my daughter and me before he saved her?!
"Where are they supposed to go?" I asked them calmly.
I want to know why and how it happened.
"Based on the investigation, it looks like these two were heading to Tagaytay because the scene of the accident was near Tagaytay. Maru seems to have avoided the truck, but he did not notice the tree. Or maybe he chose to crash the car in the tree because they had a better chance of surviving the accident. " He explained.
Tagaytay. Their sweet sanctuary. I wanted to smirk.
Then we heard the door open. My blood immediately rose to my head when I saw who was at the door. I went to her and slapped her.
"What did you do to my husband!!!" I shouted at her.
I slap her again. "What do you want?!!"
The people there immediately stopped us. James held me while Alex held Jana.
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
"Sorry?!!! Will my husband be healed by your sorry?!!!" I shouted.
"What are you going to do in Tagaytay, huh?!!! Tell me!!!!" I asked her angrily.
"I-I'm sorry, Mara, we didn't mean it." She said while trembling.
"What are you saying that you guys didn't mean, Jana?!!! Tell me!!!" I said, already hysterical.
"Andrew and I love each other. We were planning to go to Tagaytay to spend time alone." She said, almost whispered but clear enough for us to hear.
"What are you saying?!" I asked coldly.
"I can't keep it anymore, Mara. That's why I am asking for your forgiveness. Especially now, I almost lost him. I don't want to waste our time. I will fight for our love." She said, a bit determined.
Everyone gasped from Jana's revelation.
"Are you crazy? What are you saying?" I asked her in annoyance.
"It's not true that we didn't love each other. Because even before and until now, we still love each other. If Tanya didn't come into your life, we were already planning to elope so that we can be together forever." She said while crying.
"Do you think I will believe you?" I told her.
"Isn't it enough proof to you that Maru and I went to Tagaytay? That place served as our sanctuary. That place is the witness of our love for each other."
She went to me and kneeled.
"I'm begging you, Mara. Just let him go. We love each other. Please, Mara, please..." she pleaded while kneeling.
"What are you saying, Jana? My son loves Mara and not you! Don't try to ruin my son's family!" Maru's mom can't help but butt in.
"Auntie, I'm sorry. I can't take it anymore. I know that you don't like me for your son. But we love each other, auntie."
She then faces me again, begging. "Please, Mara, just let me and Maru love each other. Please let him go. I'm begging you."
I can't stop my tears from flowing. My heart also tightened. I look at her coldly.
"Okay. I am letting you guys go. I hope you two can be happy."
After I said that, I left the hospital.
I heard them calling my name, but I chose to ignore them.
