"Mister Velasco, where are we going?" When she was in the car, she yelled.
"You are my wife so just call me by my first name, It's Nathan." He responded in a sultry tone.
"Nathan...just cut the joke okay? I will never, ever be your wife...you know that?"
As Nathan started the car, he remarked, "Alright, if you say so."
"Just tell me where we're going." She inquired once more, her face bored.
"Do you want to eat something?" he asked while driving.
"N-no..." He could hear her stomach growling as she frowned.
"Does that mean it's a yes?" He laughs as he looks at her from the back seat.
"I don't want to eat..." She mumbles something.
"You must eat your breakfast, young lady! Health is the most valuable asset..."
"Don't lecture me because I'm on a diet and I'm aware of what I'm doing to myself." She said firmly.
"I'm your husband and also your guardian in the eyes of the law." He said something in response.
"Oh, my word! Don't say anything along those lines. I'm still stunned by what's going on right now...and this, You! I've been overthinking the last few days." She began with a pout and an eye roll. She is disgusted that she believes this man is her husband. Instead of arguing, husband and wife should be in love with one another. She mulls over this while staring at Nathan's back.
"Okay okay... We are going to Olivia's Cafe..." He said.
"You mean in my friend's cafe?" Her voice was a bit excited and smiled at him.
"Who's your friend?" He asked in confusion.
"Olivia."
"Uh-huh, she's your friend?" He asked.
"Yes, I said that a few minutes ago."
"Yes, that's where we're going...Wife." He replied to her with a smile on his face.
This man is getting on her nerves. She needs to think to be professional and don't do anything stupid. She remembers that she needs this man in her life, well one percent in her life.
"Yes, and don't bother talking to me any longer. Continue driving and keep your eyes on the road, please." She replied in a surly tone, her gaze fixed on the road, where she could see the children playing on the Plaza.
"Oh, God...I miss teaching..." She said while closing her eyes reminiscing when she was a teacher. She stops thinking when Nathan speaks up and then she opens her eyes.
"Why don't you go back to teaching?" He asked her while looking at her beautiful face in the front mirror.
"Because I have some issues to deal with. You... You are my issue." She said,
"Ah really... That's so sweet." He cackled.
"I can't believe this." She whispered to herself while restraining her not to be a badass to this man.
"Sorry...I'm trying to make you feel calm..."
"Yes and that's help!" She said sarcastically and rolled her sleeves.
"I'm sorry my wife...Don't take this seriously. I'm trying to be nice to you. If I'm not nice to you, you should be scared."
"Uh-huh? What are you going to do with me?"
"Eating you and biting you." He said in a seductive tone.
"Shut up!" Her face turned red like a tomato thinking of what he said.
"Just kidding..."
"Well... It's not funny!" She exclaimed.
"I'm sorry..."
When they arrived at her friend's restaurant, she immediately looked for Liv, but her friend didn't mention anything about being on vacation with her fiance, so she returned to her table and noticed Nathan was also eyeing her intently. She took a chair and sat down in front of him.
"So what do you want to eat?" He asked while looking at the menu.
Erin gazed at Nathan's hand, which was a pleasant sight to see. She had barely stopped thinking when she covered her eyes with her hands. His hands look plumper and softer to hold. she whispered to herself, 'Oh god, what am I thinking?
"I don't have much of an appetite." She replied slowly, then returned her gaze to her cellphone.
Erin has no plans to eat with Nathan because she knows it will spark another argument between them.
"Luke?" Nathan said while waving to the man who was wearing a black suit.
"Nathan?" The man replied.
Erin noticed the man's stance and she remembered something when he was in the cemetery so she just lost it in her mind.
"Wow! It's good to see you, man!" Nathan said.
"Anyway this is Erin, my companion."
The two of them locked gazes, and Erin sensed something strange but couldn't put her finger on what it was. She raised an eyebrow at the thought because the man has beautiful features that every girl loves to gaze at every day.
"I'm Luke, Nathan's old friend. You look stunning! Have we ever met?"
"I don't think so... But you look familiar." She replied.
"Perhaps I'm anywhere..." He chuckles and looks at his friend Nathan who was silent looking at them.
"Uh-huh," Erin giggled.
"Come on in and take a seat with us." Erin offers Luke a chair only to irritate Nathan, who is frowning at her.
Like appears to be pleased and takes the chair for him.
"Seriously...I'm overjoyed to be sitting here with you; it's an honor..." Luke made a funny remark.
"You have a great sense of humor...I'm just a regular young lady. It's not a big deal. That's why you look familiar; I remember seeing you on my 18th birthday!" Erin's eyes gleamed with delight as she recalled this man.
"Yes, Absolutely. That's why I'm anywhere...I was there. I'm visible from any place." He chuckled once more.
When something in his words makes her cringe...but she can't figure out what it is...she abruptly stops smiling. Nathan then interrupts her thoughts by placing his hand on her back and gently massaging her skin.
"So... Luke, perhaps we can talk or bond another time. Today, Miss Erin and I have something important to talk about." Nathan said in a warning tone. He doesn't like the way Luke stares at Erin and that makes him conscious. He knows there is something in Luke's mind for planning a bad intention.
"Oh, no! Okay, I'll see you later or probably in your building. Ciao!" He winked at Erin then exited the restaurant.
"Hmm...so where are we?" Erin asks him while and moves his hand around her back.
"Can you please stop smiling at him...You don't know him. He's my friend, you're smiling at my fucking friend."
"Why not? He's funny..." She defended him.
It wasn't clear to Erin why Nathan had irritated her, so she ignored him and ordered a meal. When he re-examined it, his eyesight had returned to normal. Taking the fork from her hand, she began to eat.
"Do you not want to eat?" She asks him as she chews on the beefsteak in her mouth.
"I heard about what happened at your father's Company. But as you can see, we are here to assist your company and, in particular, you, Miss Raylee." He said while looking at her face.
She stops eating and looks at him with a serious face.
"So be it, Mr. Velasco."
"I know it's been difficult for you to accept what's happened in your life recently. Nonetheless, I believe your parents must be proud to see you accepting my offers right here in front of me." He sighed.
"However, you have no idea what I'm going through." She said then paused for a moment.
"I'll be living with you by tomorrow morning. The only thing you have to do is follow my rules." She added
"Okay, the helicopter will be ready tomorrow for you."
"Helicopter???"
